The stupid title "Laze" refers to its object of derision: "Blaze", an excellent movie that introduced Lolita Davidovich as the stripper (Blaze Starr) involved with Louisiana governor Earl Long (played by Paul Newman). That film was a box office flop and oddly enough released by Disney (though unlikely to pop up on Disney+ nowadays).
Emphasis is on slapstick and includes a very broad performance by Chi Chi Larue as the corrupt governor, not in drag for a change -he remains one of porn's longest running directors, still in action cranking out Gay Porn.
It has a colorful cast of femmes, not big stars but B-level talents. Victoria Paris gets top-billing as the governor's political opponent, but her role is not very big. Not one of director Henri Pachard's better efforts, but clearly a more personal project than many of his titles, as he also wrote the screenplay.
I was quite surprised at the movie's coda, after the final cum shot was delivered by Sean Michaels, as a corrupt TV preacher. Earl's helper Lulu (Kelly Royce) makes an impassioned plea for personal freedom (especially in the bedroom) and how the governor creates chaos, while Earl counters, stressing loyalty above all. Chi Chi as Earl turns to the camera directly, ending with putting the issue in the audience's hands. Even the dialogue rings true in today's need to vote against current symbol of corruption, Trump.
