Married for Life

Why o why did they bother redoing a classic. The original American version (Married With Children) is almost perfect. No one can top the US cast of Married with children. This UK version was the lamest remake of any show I had the misfortune to watch, that's 25 minutes of my life I will never get back. Who ever thought this was a good idea shouldn't ever work in television again. The writing was atrocious, whoever wrote these scripts could have never seen the original that it was based on, wholly unfunny while the US original was a great powerhouse of a comedy with great writing a great cast. Lessons leant (hopefully) never try to remake a classic.

My god this was awful. British remake of the incredible US Sit Com Married With Children.

It's really difficult to fully explain how appallingly bad this is. The cast are all well known UK actors except the children who simply cannot act at all.

The scripts are straight remakes of the American series but there is absolutely no chemistry, timing or redeeming qualities here. If anything it is truly amazing that this ever made it to our screens as it is one of the most cringe inducing experiences I have ever sat through. Russ Abbot was an excellent and funny stage performer with a long running sketch show on UK TV but when comes to heading a cast for a full episode as the same character his lack of actual acting ability is exposed for all to see.

All the characters from the US version are reprised but with hugely inferior actors.

The lazy red head wife, the bimbo blond daughter, the creepy little brother and the put upon some salesman. Even the neighbours are the earthy banker and his mousy cloying wife and yes they have a shaggy dog too

Hugh Bonneville is unrecognisable both physically and in so much as he hadn't yet learned to act comedically. He was the only one to come out of this and goon to have a successful acting career.

Unsurprisingly it was cancelled after the first 7 episodes

Anyone seen MARRIED WITH CHILDREN ? If you haven`t let me say it`s the funniest most politically incorrect sitcom American television has ever produced . MARRIED FOR LIFE is the British remake, or should that be a refilm ? you see what`s happened is MFL has taken the exact same scripts of MWC and reshot them , the only difference being that American words like " cents " " dollars " and " truck " has been changed to " pence " " pounds " and " lorry " . Oh there are some other differences like perfect comedy timing and good comedic acting which is sadly missing from MARRIED FOR LIFE. I can honestly say that this is one of the most painful viewing experiances I have ever suffered
