Spike and Mike's Hilarious Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation

If poo is all you care about, this might be your thing. Otherwise, thumbs down. I would only care about "Humping Dog" and the "Wrong Hole" just because they are not about poo (well, about `same old in-out') but it's not worth getting for just 2 titles.

One of my favorite DVD's, and a great movie for parties. Some stand out cartoons here are the Ren & Stimpy inspired "Special the Cat," a Donna-Reed-on-weed spoof called "Home Honey I'm High," hippy-hating loudmouth Rick the Dick, the ultra-queasy "Lloyd's Lunchbox" series and Craig McCracken's (pre-Powerpuff Girls) "No Neck Joe." One of my favorites is the dadaist tale of "The Cat, The Cow and the Beautiful Fish." A few cartoons are in rough draft state, but lose none of the effect. Fans of South Park or Ren & Stimpy would enjoy this collection.

I love short films and short animations, so I really was expecting to enjoy this film far more than I did. That's because most of the animations weren't at all funny and they almost always relied on scatological humor or nudity. In a rare few cases, such as Bill Plympton's HOW TO MAKE LOVE TO A WOMAN, the crudity was necessary for the jokes and it worked well. In most cases, though, it was just potty humor that even 6th graders would find too juvenile to merit watching.

If you are looking for collections of short animations, I recommend you watch the ANIMATION SHOW DVDs. While many of the cartoons fall flat, far fewer do and you also don't need to feel ashamed if your kids decide to watch it with you. With this Spike and Mike collection, this definitely isn't the case!

I have to disagree with the other comment that was posted. Although the content on this DVD is sick and disgusting for the sake of being sick and disgusting, that is completely the point of Spike and Mike's. I've been attending the festivals for a couple years now and always enjoy seeing cartoons that almost make me puke. This may not be the greatest adult cartoon collection, but it is one of the better ones in my opinion.

consists of mostly pointless and usually very violent animations. revels in pointless grossouts -- not grossouts that have a point and humor, but for the sake of the grossout. same for the ubiquitous violence -- no point, no reason, no humor, just because animation can do it. i went with high hopes of good entertainment, but I didn't laugh once -- and I held out for almost an hour hoping.
