The Gorilla in the Garden

All is bliss in the Edgar Kennedy household. After fifteen years, Edgar's in-laws have left and he and his wife have agreed: no more relatives. But hark! Here comes Edgar's rich uncle Joe, staying with relatives before he figures out who to leave his money to! Edgar's COMMON MAN series had been running at RKO since 1933, usually to good effect, and would only end later in 1948 with Kennedy's death. Rhe performances are typically good here. The details are a getting a bit tired, especially the long coincidence of the escaped gorilla being on the loose. I attribute this to scriptwriter Scott Darling, who had worked with the Christie in the 1910s and 1920s and had since become a hack in the comedy industry. Ah, well. The cast give it their usual best.
