Stubby Pringle's Christmas

Well, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only person who was delighted by the movie and disgusted that copies aren't readily available. If anyone finds a source please alert me as well. I watched it, was enchanted, waited to see it offered again over the years, and I am annually disappointed. I was at a Christmas gathering today and one of the questions asked of each individual at the party was, "What is your favorite Christmas movie"? I replied "Stubby Pringle's Christmas". Nobody else at the party had seen or heard of this movie. I can't believe that it wasn't popular enough to be released every holiday season. In fact it isn't even listed at google under "movies starring Beau Bridges" !

This movie impressed me so much as a young college student with its message of selfless concern for others. His (Stubby's) only concern was for the happiness and welfare of his friends in the bunkhouse, a family of total strangers, and the woman he never got to meet. Not once did he think of himself, nor express sorrow or regret at missing his long-awaited date with the woman of his dreams. Indeed, his last thought at the dance was for his crusty old bunkmate with a sweet tooth. This is such an outstanding example of the spirit of Christmas in an everyday world that it boggles my mind that it CANNOT be found on the video shelves, for sale OR rent. I've searched for years and scoured the TV Christmas specials with no success. Please, whoever has the power to control such things, MAKE IT AVAILABLE!!!

There is more true Christmas spirit in this movie than in anything else I've ever seen. It really is as good as the ratings indicate.

My husband and I were enjoying a wonderful Christmas in 1984. It was wonderful because our "special" little daughter age 2 and born with severe problems was able to be home with us. Her other Christmas' were spent at Primary Children's Medical Center. It was quite late and we were setting up our oldest daughter's Santa Claus gifts, when we started watching this wonderful movie. We were extremely moved by this movie and now, hind sight being 20/20 vision, wished we would have thought to tape it. I think it's a shame that this movie can't be shared with everyone on a regular basis because in my opinion it's right up there with "It's a wonderful Life" which seems to be the only older Christmas movie that the networks seem to be able to find. I have searched all the various cable and local channels each holiday season to see if it will magically appear, but to my disappointment it never does. We just found this web-site last night because once again, we thought about it and expressed our desire to see it again. I don't understand why it hasn't aired again - at least to my knowledge it hasn't, and I would love to have it in our video collection. It would be nice to show our children what "quality" Christmas movies are - because each year they get more rare. If someone has the power - please contact whomever has the ability to make this movie available. Thank you for creating this web-site.

This movie is what the true meaning of christmas really is. We have been looking for years for a copy. Can anyone help? The networks are really missing out by not showing this touching story of a cowboy who goes out of his way to help a down and out family on christmas eve. Please, help me find a copy.
