Raven

This show is part Equalizer, part Burn Notice, part Magnum PI. Lee Majors played the Sam (Bruce Campbell) character. I almost wonder if Sam wasn't a nod to him. I had never even heard of this show. Found it on EPIX.

I still enjoy the pilot and its a half way decent action show.But as the show went on a lot of it was very cheesy and generic.The plots for the most part were very by the number for a show like this.The writing wasn't especially creative or ground breaking.Majors seemed to be playing it a bit over the top at times.Sometimes he seemed like a competent trained side kick.Other times he came off as an eccentric old coot who i wouldn't trust anywhere near a loaded weapon.

Also found it to be a bit misogynistic.All of the women are portrayed as either weak inept villains who are easily taken out by the lead or helpless victims who need to be saved.This would feel normal for any pre-90s TV show.But here it feels a little ridiculous and out of place.

This was probably the finest martial arts serial on modern TV. I would compare it favorably with the Green Hornet. The cast was excellent, both playing their parts well and displaying admirable chemistry. I wish this show was available to buy, but no such luck.

It is a Shame that CBS doesn't have a Clue to what a good TV series is, Raven was a fine Show,It had Great Writing,Great Chemistry (with Meek & Majors) as it's Leading stars. and Great Displays of Martial Arts in Excellent fight scenes, CBS HAD A TRUE HIT ON THEIR HANDS. but as usual They let it slip out of their hands.There should be a Release of this wonderful TV series on DVD. & A TV/REUNION MOVIE to finally add closure to this wonderful show. I have a story in mind for it,and it would be great to see Mark Dacascoss or Ernie Reyes jr to play Jonathon's son. There should be a petition to make this thing happen. Raven has a very large TV/CULT FOLLOWING. I guess is if CBS doesn't make this happen ,Then I belive that they truly live up to their name Consistantly Being Stupid. I loved the 90's. That was my era. Everything about it was the best; the music, the movies, the fashion, and the T.V. series. One of which was my favorite: Raven. It was so enjoyable & entertaining. The cast for this series were timeless. Jeff Meek was great, as was Lee Majors. They really had something going on with this hit. My Friends & I would all get together at another friends house to watch it. Unfortunately, It was cut short. Dropped by the network, banished from the public eye. I realize that it's probably been too long now to ask why, and the political side to the story would probably be a bit ugly. But what I would really like to know is this; why has it not made it onto DVD format yet? My plea is probably falling on deaf ears, but if someone who can make this work is listening out there.... Please bring this classic back to life. Please bring it to DVD.
