This is one of my Jess Franco's favorite movies. Its, without a doubt, a entertaining movie, with a great Howard Vernon (and old Howard in this movie), playing a funny character, with great sense of humour and gags. Jess Franco himself make a funny appearance (as in other of his movies) and critic Carlos Aguilar plays the hotel clerk, with a funny gag. José Llamas is not good as Howard Vernon. They are on the pursuit of a rare cult with a holy man with masked eyes (perhaps played by Jess himself?). This cult trained blind persons (that have been kidnapped in the past) and force them to kill important politics.. Our two heroes (Vernon and Llamas) are looking to solve this mystery. The movie also contains some nudity (usual in Jess movies) and a funny taxi driver that also is the hotel owner (great jokes here!!!, some laughs). Very funny as other Jess movies as Residencia para Espias or Las Cartas Boca Arriba. Don't miss it!!!

Colorful but inferior production about secret agents and international conspiracy in the Sixties and Seventies style, when abounded this sort of films into the Euro-spy sub-genre. Stars a Colonel : Howard Vernon from the British Secret Service who is tasked to solve the murders carried out by blinded killers against notorious políticians. He is accompanied by another agent : Jose Llamas . They join forces to go to Bangkok and eventually discovering the criminal mastermind, a leader of a weird sect.

Produced by Manacoa Productions , Jesús Franco's owner , containing action , thrills , humor with tongue-in-cheek , plot twists and brief nudism . The film has nothing to do with Edgar Wallace novels , being loosely based on his books , taking parts here and there .There are various locations from Palma de Mallorca and Benidorm , and also in Bangkok and Singapur , but the latter shot by cameraman Julián Soler who moved himself to these countries to shot some scenes with no starring actors. It displays a jazzy musical score in Franco style , as well as atmospheric photography. Stars unknown actors exception for Howard Vernon , Franco's usual, and, of course , secondary acting by Jesús Franco himself .

The motion picture was regularly written, edited, produced and directed by Jesús, Jess, Franco. Jess was a Stajanovist, restless writer, producer, director who realized over 200 pictures. His career spans over 50 years with a few successes and lots of flops, making all kind of genres : thrillers, adventures, action and with penchant for Terror and erotic genre . Jesus used to sigb under pseudonym, among the aliases he used apart from Jess Frank or Franco Manera, were the following ones : Frank Hollman, Clifford Brown, David Khune, James P. Johnson, David Though, among others. Franco used to use ordinary trademarks, such as : zooms , nudism, foreground on objects , filmmaking in DIY style and managing to work extraordinarily quick in very low budget, as well as frequently releasing various titles at the same time. He was a prolific filmmaker, directing a lot of lousy movies. However, making some acceptable fiñms , such as : We are 18 years old, The awful Dr Orloff, The Bloody Judge , Count Dracula, 99 women, The Blood of Fumanchu, Faceless and a few others. And many of them were heavily cut and with double versions. Rating Viaje a Bangkok : 3.5/10 . Inferior and below average action movie. Only for Jess Frank completists.
