I've watched this movie without subtitle, and it was a good movie even without being able to understand Cantonese. That's how good this movie is.
First the casting is great in this movie. Jackie Chueng, Do Do Chen, Maggie Chung all put in a great show. Especially Do Do's energy is fantastic. But right from the opening, there's "something" about this movie that lets you know that it's a good movie. I was drawn into it from the very beginning.
Late '80s was the time when quality of Hong Kong movies skyrocketed, and I could see why. With this many great talent, it's not hard to see why good movies are made. The movie is fun, glamorous, and done in good taste.
This is a great movie, and is highly recommended for viewing.

This is not your average Hollywood film but it doesn't mean its bad
its definitely one of the best comedy romance movies i have seen. i saw it when i was about 9, and until today, i can still remember it, i can still remember some of the funniest scenes, and when i think of it, i would still laugh, and people around me will think i'm weird.
The actors were very good along with the plot, you feel for the characters and their struggles. This movie is very moving and touching but has an excellent sense of humor, Asian humor to be specific, so western audiences might find it a bit hard to laugh.
i have only seen this movie once on TV, and i fell in love with it immediately, and after all these years, i can still remember it. this is a great movie, go see it, you will know what i mean

The cover of this film doesn't give away that this is actually a ghost comedy starring Jacky Cheung as Kit, who was saved by a gentle ghost named Yuk (Maggie Cheung). Kit's sister, Kam (Carol 'Do Do' Cheng) wants to have a successful career and confides in madam Big Sister (Pik-Wan Tang), who happens to be the grieving mother of Yuk.
Carol Cheng delivers her usual stammering and sometimes frustrated style humor and Pik-Wan Tang deliver her role with command and eloquence. Jacky Cheung and Maggie Cheung had good chemistry together and delivered some sentimental scenes, from Cheung's ghost character falling in love with Kit (Jacky Cheung), to the harsh reality that a human and spirit cannot co-exist.
The first scenes of the supernatural activities gave the film some suspense, but it is unfortunately drowned out in the slow plot at times. Still, it isn't a bad ghost comedy.
Grade B-
