Though this movie was a typical masala film with the then one man industry, I will still go for this movie if just to relive the Bachchan magic all over again. And yes, the real stealer in this movie & a huge crowd puller on its own, was the music of the film. Scored by the very talented & at times under-rated Rajesh Roshan, even 40 years down the line every song of this movie is still so soothing to the ear. I have also read somewhere that the most melodious song of this movie 'Chookar mere man ko' was actually not liked by the concerned producer & is still there in the film solely because of an adamant Rajesh Roshan, supported by who else but the greatest among all actor-stars that the Indian silver screen has seen till date, the one & only Amitabh Bachchan....!

Yaarana is a movie about friendship. Amitabh Bachchan in a powerhouse performance. Alongside Amitabh is the late Amjad Khan in another powerhouse performance. The movie is a simple tale about 2 friends and their sacrifices they have to make to help each other including family and financial situations. Yaarana is a light hearted entertaining movie which gets quite serious towards the interval. Amitabh is always brilliant, but its Amjad Khan who gives a surprising role as a good hearted character. After Many negative roles Amjad Khan finally plays a Good guy and does a Fantastic job of it. The movie was a Blockbuster Hit in India. The music was also a Super Hit, Tere jaisa yaar is my favourite among the songs. This is One movie that i never get bored of it. A big time entertainer and Must see
"Yaarana" is a Bollywood film that was released in 1981. It was directed by Rakesh Kumar and starred Amitabh Bachchan, Amjad Khan, Neetu Singh, and Tanuja in lead roles.
The movie revolves around the story of two friends, Kishan (played by Amitabh Bachchan) and Bishan (played by Amjad Khan). Kishan is a wealthy businessman who is kind-hearted and generous, while Bishan is a small-time singer struggling to make ends meet. Their friendship faces a test when Kishan discovers that he has a terminal illness and has only a few months to live. In order to secure a future for Bishan, Kishan decides to fake his own death and asks Bishan to take care of his family. Bishan reluctantly agrees and takes on Kishan's identity, leading to a series of comedic and emotional situations.
"Yaarana" is known for its iconic music, composed by Rajesh Roshan, and features popular songs like "Chhookar Mere Mann Ko" and "Tere Jaisa Yaar Kahan." The film combines elements of drama, romance, and comedy, and showcases the bond of friendship in an entertaining and engaging manner.
The performances in the film are commendable, with Amitabh Bachchan delivering a powerful portrayal of both the wealthy Kishan and the struggling Bishan. Amjad Khan provides solid support as the loyal friend caught in a web of deception. Neetu Singh and Tanuja also deliver notable performances in their respective roles.
The film's direction by Rakesh Kumar is effective in balancing the different genres and maintaining a good pace throughout the narrative. The screenplay, though predictable at times, successfully engages the audience and keeps them invested in the story.
One of the strengths of "Yaarana" is its music, which has remained popular even after several decades. The songs not only entertain but also add depth to the storytelling and enhance the emotional impact of certain scenes.
Overall, "Yaarana" is a classic Bollywood film that offers a mix of drama, comedy, and music. It has stood the test of time and continues to be remembered as a memorable film in Amitabh Bachchan's career. If you enjoy movies that celebrate friendship and feature strong performances, catchy music, and a blend of emotions, then "Yaarana" is worth watching.

Yaarana review :
A film based on childhood friendship; Yaarana was about a village simpleton Amitabh Bachchan whose city bred bestie Amjad Khan helps him become a famous singer.
Directed by Rakesh Kumar, the film's first half was a breezy comedy while the second half was action packed. The role suited Amitabh perfectly and he was brilliant in each and every scene whether as Kishan singing "Bhole o Bhole" to his dear friend or later, bashing up the goons in climax. This was a film purely depending on the super stars histrionics.
What makes Yaarana special for me is the "Saara Zamaana" song where Amitabh appeared in a bulb fitted suit. I saw that song on DD National programme 'Chitrahaar' and demanded my grandparents to buy me that suit for my fifth birthday!! I used to dance to that song impersonating Amitabh's signature steps.
Yaarana, as a film, was an average fare but it was Amitabh and his bulb wala dress which made it a box office success.

Wealthy Bishan (Amjad Khan) and servant Kishan (Amitabh Bachchan) are friends who grew up together in their small Indian village. Bishan goes off to the city to explore the wider world, but returns after several years to renew their friendship. Discovering that Kishan has a great singing voice, Bishan whisks him away to Bombay to help him become a star. But just as Kishan is gaining fame, Bishan loses his fortune and his sanity due to his unscrupulous uncle and cousin (Jeevan and Ranjeet) and only Kishan can help him.
Solid entertainer with a strong ability to tug at your heartstrings, which is mainly due to the performances of Amitabh and Amjad Khan. They are very convincing as friends, their chemistry is superb- it's good to see Amjad Khan in a positive role, and he's simply superb as the gentle-hearted Bishan, who loses his mind. Amitabh matches him in the acting stakes, and the rest of the cast - Neetu Singh, Sulochana, Tanuja, Ranjeet, Jeevan, and Kadar Khan - do brilliantly.
The first half of the film is comedic, especially with the Polydor staff trying to turn Amitabh's village bumpkin into a star; of course, he eventually becomes one, and ends up singing some memorable songs. The second half gets serious, with Amjad Khan put in the mental institution after the kids in his care get kidnapped by Jeevan and Ranjeet. There's some action at the end, but it's mostly well-scripted story about friendship.

- WissenswertesWhilst shooting in Kolkata for a song in a stadium. Neetu Singh started crying, who had recently got engaged and didn't want to be away from Rishi Kapoor. The phones in Kolkata weren't working and Rishi was upset that he couldn't get through to Neetu. Amitabh Bachchan asked Neetu why she was crying. Neetu said, she wanted to go back.' Amitabh called the producer, asked him to book Neetu's ticket back to Mumbai and said they would manage the song without Neetu. The whole song was changed. This is the reason why Neetu is in half of the song and then disappears.
- PatzerWhile organizing the cricket match inside the mental asylum, the fielding position that Kishen (Amitabh Bachchan) refers to as slips is actually short leg.
