This animated series was awesome! The characters were so intelligent and had such good personalities! The color and Animation was always good and the show had a good theme! This was an excellent animated series of the 1980s!
I am a huge fan of animation, and when I came across ThunderCats I was interested. The concept intrigued me, so I decided to watch a few episodes to give it a try. In no time, I was actually hooked. ThunderCats is nothing short of brilliant. As I have said before I have seen plenty of exceptional shows, animated and non-animated, and ThunderCats is definitely one of those exceptional shows.
The animation is amazingly detailed in general, the colours and backgrounds are very sophisticated and the characters are all drawn wonderfully. There may be the odd occasion where it was perhaps imperfect but that is very minor. The music is also wonderful, the theme tune is one of the most memorable theme tunes in an animated show ever. The writing is very intelligent and thoughtful with a sense of adventure, and the story lines are incredibly deep(like I just said reviewing Gargoyles) and complex. Even more impressive are the characters, Lion-O is a courageous hero and leader, Cheetara is a beautiful, vivacious character and Mumm-Ra is a mysterious and sometimes frightening villain with a very sinister yet effective voice. The voice acting is superb and fit with the characters wonderfully, especially Earl Hammond as Mumm-Ra.
Overall, a brilliant show, one of the best animated shows of the '80s, maybe even ever. That may be rather rash to say, but it is pretty much my way of saying how wonderful ThunderCats is. 10/10 Bethany Cox

ThunderCats is the absolute best cartoon ever created. In a time when Anime was not yet that popular in the U.S., the creators of ThunderCats had the sensibility to try something new, to make ThunderCats stand apart by using Japanese cartoonists.
With the most talented voices of any cartoon, ThunderCats reached the top of the charts, an instant hit. It had sensational, original music which had a different theme for each character and the theme song was catchy and simple enough for kids to pick up and sing along.
It was truly original. In a time when heroes were macho beyond macho, Lion-O had the vulnerability of having the mind of a child trapped in the body of an adult, the result of his body aging while spending 10 Galacto years in a suspension capsule. As Tygra said in the second episode, he missed those important growing up years where a person matures into adulthood. He was truly relatable to kids.
Kids also related well to Wilykit and Wilykat, two kids on the team who had to deal with adults telling them what to do.
All the ThunderCats were superb characters, though I must say Tygra is my favorite. The cartoon blended three very important elements which helped it become a success: action/adventure storytelling, humor, and moral & ethical values. And that most kids love cats didn't hurt either.
Cartoons today stink, the 80's rocked for the best cartoons and ThunderCats were the best ever. This was my favorite cartoon as a kid and I find now watching them on DVD, I love them more than ever. It's a cartoon which both kids and adults can love.
ThunderCats Ho!

ThunderCats Ho!
...Yeah everything from the theme tune to the show itself was pretty damn cool all round! The movie was amazing aswell... much better than the Pokemon movies could ever come up with!
You know it upsets me when I see what animators are coming up with now, it's no wonder than 80's cartoons are back in fashion because all this cyber/Pokemon/3-D Animation rubbish is just awful! Give me Thundercats, He-Man, Real Ghostbusters, Inspector Gadget, Danger Mouse any day!
The only bad thing about Thundercats was the Ed McMahon style HO!!!! they put onto the name... It dated in a horrendous way!
Lion-O you were the man! I bet most red headed people look up to you as their god!

"Thundercats" was my favorite of a great group of '80s cartoons. It makes me feel a little sorry for kids today who have to watch "Pokemon" or "Barney."
"Thundercats" was a great show. Sure, it had its flaws, and sure the dialogue was often corny. But it did not make a difference in the presentation of the show as a whole.
Mumm-ra was an excellent villain, the Thundercats were amiable heroes, who were really role models, and the reptiles were the comic relief. Heck, Snarf was okay too.
The animation is fantastic and the storylines are really quite entertaining. Although I'm 18, I will still watch it if it's on, which is rare right now. I hope Cartoon Network straightens up and brings some quality 80s cartoons on because that is the best decade of all television. Thanks for the good memories, Thundercats!
