Although the subject matter here was of intrinsic interest to me ( I was born in Belfast) this woeful attempt at drama has "tommies" (as British soldiers were known in World War I) with long hair bursting out of their caps, Margot Kidder trying & failing to achieve an Irish accent and the Irish portrayed as murderous, stupid or both.
There's shocking over-acting and a ridiculous ending with dozens dead.
This production never got within 100 miles of Belfast and is best ignored.

This might be the worst film I have seen in my entire life. The acting is horribly bad (the Canadian actors didn't really do a good job on the Belfast accent) and the plot is so filled with clichés and plot holes that the researchers should all be ashamed of themselves. The final scene and 'grand finale' is nothing but laughable.
As far as explaining the situation in Northern Ireland and Belfast at the time it is one-dimensional and goes nowhere near the core of the Troubles. Do not mistake this for an informational and factual production.
It is indeed so bad that it deserves the stamp of 'cult classic', and should be filed under 'comedy' - if watched with the right anticipation it is hilarious.

I bought this movie as a present for my da who was born and raised in Belfast. He watched it with my mum and his older sister (also born and raised in Belfast). When I walked in on them and found them crying I thought that this must be a tremendous movie until I realized they were crying from laughing so hard! Then I heard the accents! My cat sounds more like a Belfast native then these actors! I had to apologize as I didn't realize when I got them the movie that this was supposed to be a comedy! Someone didn't do their homework! If you want to see a good movie, see Bloody Sunday. That was outstanding and gave you a true insight into the troubles! Or get the Rebel Heart. Based on a true story. This was all over the place.
So I watched the trailer on YouTube. I've gotta say, it looks ghastly.
This film is a gritty and realistic depiction of the impact of sectarian conflict and violence in Northern Ireland on family and community life. Vengeance follows vengeance in a well-orchestrated and credible plot. Noteworthy for one of Margot Kidder's best performances.
