Die 3000-Meilen-Jagd

"The 3,000 Mile Chase" is an okay film...but no better. And that makes we wonder why...why would an actor of Glenn Ford's status star in an okay made for TV movie?

Paul Dvorak (Ford) hires Matt (Cliff De Young) to transport him from the West Coast to New York. However, WHY he needs help and WHO is chasing him.this is something Paul doesn't tell Matt...and you wonder why Matt takes this job in the first place. Paul also is a bit of a cheapskate and he grumbles about the money Matt needs to pay for expenses. But after various armed thugs try to stop them...Matt insists Paul tell him what really is going on and who the killers are.

The film has some problems with the plot. Why Paul doesn't travel some other way and why he doesn't accept help from the government are both things you can't help but notice. And, when the shooting starts...why don't they head to the nearest police station or call the FBI? Overall, a watchable movie but one that just isn't much more.

The 3000 Mile Chase is what Cliff DeYoung and Blair Brown are on escorting Glenn Ford and wife Priscilla Pointer are on. A journey cross country from southern California to New York to bring Ford unharmed to testify as a witness against mob boss Tito Vandis. Of course Tito has a lot of his nasty employes looking to see he doesn't make it.

This looked very much like a pilot series for Cliff DeYoung who was up and coming during the 70s. DeYoung is a most resourceful fellow against some steep odds in the mission. DeYoung is a bonded courier who usually delivers inanimate items to their assigned destination. This one is a special assignment.

Might have worked as a series.
