Diwana

When this film was released in 1967, Raj Kapoor had far left his youthful days and his on screen charisma had faded, even though he decently plays the part as protagonist(another one of his roles as an honest man with a golden heart). His pairing with Saira Banu, who was average in the film, is also unconvincing. The story was a major letdown as was the mediocre direction.

The only saving grace was the rather good songs. Not much to expect from the film, this is just bad(no doubt it failed at the box office also). Raj Kapoor did better films in his heydays. Better watch them than this.

This is a classic movie from 1967 I seen it's a musical romance film it's very long because of many songs the story is that Pyarelal (Raj Kapoor) was orphaned at birth and lives with A Muslim Lady She tells him to find a lady to Marry He starts loving a Kamini Gupta ( Saira Banu) She was brought by Sir Mayadas (Kamal Kapoor) And Pyarelal gets suddenly arrested for murder No one believes that He did a murder but Pyarelal admits in the court that He is guilty. Watch the movie to see what happens further... The first half of movie is boring around 1.5 hours in romance and this movie is too long 2 Hours 50 Minutes just for timepass.

Diwana casts a middle-aged Raj Kapoor in the type of role he was so known for playing - the simple-minded, unassuming, and kind-hearted man who finds himself in the midst of a relationship with a young, far more sophisticated woman. Sometimes it works, like in the case of Anari and Teesri Kasam, but here it doesn't quite work. First, Raj Kapoor is a little too old for the part, to put it mildly, and secondly, he really overplays his character's naivety which almost gets on the nerved. The film itself is quite a poor story which lacks freshness, and the director does very little to help it. This is not to say Diwana is a complete waste of time. First, it has beautiful music. My favorite song, "Tumhari Bhi Jai Jai" is a true gem in the voice of Mukesh. Saira Banu, as his leading lady, starts as quite a spoiled brat but grows into her own as the story proceeds. Lalita Pawar is great as always. The film gets better towards the end where it turns into a murder mystery of sorts, and the court sequence is quite enjoyable even though it's very stagy. Still, it may not be of the best films you'll see, but Diwana might hold some nostalgic value. Generally speaking, it is quite a forgettable fare.

so after working for two exhausting weeks i took a couple of days off in which i decided to watch 2 classic movies as they are my favorite and i had Raj Kapoor in my mind i choose Awaara and Diwana because i never watched them before until now in Awaara it literally blew my mind really magnificent pure diamond piece of art

Unfortunately Diwana is a whole different story i could not last the whole movie i stopped almost after an hour and half (i actually decided to watch Parvarish another golden classic for him ) to describe Diwana as far as i watched in one sentence too old Raj Kapoor too young naive Saira Banu too repetitive predictable story so overall too long boring movie

if you want to watch something for Raj Kapoor pick from the list of golden classics as i always do from now on
