55 years ago(when this picture was filmed), the Mexican movies industry was at its best. It is still known as the golden age of the Mexican cinematography. There were great Directors and Producers; People like Luis Bunuel, Luis Alcoriza or Fernando de Fuentes created masterpieces in which they showed the tragic lives of the poor people that were(and still are) the vast majority of Mexicans. If you add to the equation that this story is about handicapped persons, the meaning is still more impacting. Lets remember that Latins are very romantic; love takes precedent over any other activity in your life, but when your love may affect your loved one, it is an even greater decision to walk out of his/her life in order that he/she is happy. This is exactly what is tried to convey in this picture: It is the ultimate sign of love, if you walk out of someone's life so that he/she can achieve his/her ultimate desires. As an added comment, please allow me to say that the title of this movie is totally inadequate; it does not stand up to the movie itself, it is totally not congruent with the beauty of the movie.
