Like wtf he is sutch a player but it was bad acted and the movie didn't have a headline
It's hard to know what to make of this eccentric tale of youthful misadventure. It teeters on the edge of being a delight of an idiosyncratic kind but there's just something else in there...something...bitter...
The main character is pretty vivid and this child actor is very charismatic. It's like a thought experiment of someone with so much genius having the worst priorities and making decisions that are both really bad at times and also very clever.
On the surface a sports movie but of course there's really something else on a deeper level. Of course there is a gambling element as sports movies seem to almost always use this to create meaningful conflict. It doesn't really have much of an effect but maybe that is the point? That's the problem, this movie might just be a bit too subtle for its own good.
It occured to me a long time after watching that this is a subversion of that kind of sports movie. It's absurd to think that even a genius can work a rag-tag bunch of losers into the winning team or can win the girl by the means he is using hear. It's a portrait of a person who is yet to acquire the wisdom that our greatest strength is knowing our shortcomings (which I still haven't learnt).
Visually dynamic and with an agreeable sense of humor to keep you watching until the end, this is a movie that you will think about for a while after its done but can I really call it "good"?
Certainly I haven't seen anything else quite like it. A movie that was made with a lot of skill and know-how but think this is one of those times when an experiment did not yield the desired results.
A sour and fascinating experience nonetheless.

First of all, I watch Mexican films once in a blue moon, but I was really curious about this one.
It's good to see actual teenagers playing teenagers and finally seeing new faces. Also take in account this is set in the 90s, so it's super nostalgic. This is not an original story, but you can bet the director did a good job portraying it. First of all, the cinematography is beautiful, the shots, the closeups, the editing in general is well done. The soundtrack is perfect for each scene; I would have loved to listen to more songs in Spanish though. The actors are all natural, of course a few bad ones but it's ok, it is still enjoyable to see them, especially the main character. NO, you are not supposed to love him or hate him; he's just a regular teen.
There is a lack of dialogues and character development, also a few cringy scenes, especially the ones with the teacher. The humor is not awkward, but it could've been better.
No, it's not a perfect film, but I am glad to see new ideas in Mexican films. The director should definitely keep it going and people should give it a try.
The movie was bad, just was kind of lazy writing of the typical movie where he falls I'm love and want to win her heart, but they do it badly, the ending suck and the only reason it has a 5 and not a lower grade is that the cinematography and orientation were very good, the only nice thing about the movie.
