The world is stunned when a group of time travelers arrive from the year 2051 to deliver an urgent message: Thirty years in the future mankind is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. The only hope for survival is for soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future and join the fight. Among those recruited is high school teacher and family man Dan Forester (Chris Pratt). Determined to save the world for his young daughter, Dan teams up with a brilliant scientist (Yvonne Strahovski) and his estranged father (J.K. Simmons) in a desperate quest to rewrite the fate of the planet.

Better Than Expected

Based on the trailer and fairly uninspired title I half expected another movie that spent all its budget on actors and cranked out another poorly produced pandemic stop-gap. What we got instead was a pretty well-made action flick with heart and self-aware humor. The story is rather formulaic but it was thoroughly entertaining.

Entertaining. That's all I needed.

I like the actors, aliens, CGI, music, and action. Also, I am glad there were no social issues forced into the movie. Every time I try to watch some series Holyweirdos put some agenda in it. Even with plot holes this movie is entertaning.

No money left to hire a writer.

Looks good, shame about the rampant stupidity. There are excellent science fiction writers out there but somehow they never get hired for these movies.

Nothing fancy here, no wow factors, no unexpected scenes, infact we have seen this all many times in many movies but you know what, its still managed to keep my interest for over 2 hours.

So get some popcorn, get your gang together, sit back and relax on your couch and enjoy some brainless action because we all need some entertainment in these times.

Is what the trailer says

An action movie! Aliens, things blowing up, people with guns shooting em from endless magazines. On a Sunday afternoon, with a glass of wine, this is perfect. And Chris Pratt is cool as usual. I watched this for some no nonsense fun. It delivers. Plot holes the size of the 7 oceans aside.

Chris Pratt said the shooting location for the winter scenes in Russia was on a glacier in Iceland that had never been filmed on before. He added that a few weeks prior to shooting, a couple bodies had been discovered down a fissure. They appeared to be preserved from about 1940. According to Icelandic reporter Ingunn Lára Kristjánsdóttir, there is no evidence that a couple was found on the glacier Skálafellsjökull, where Pratt was filming. In her reporting, she spoke with the chief of police in the South of Iceland and a police officer in the town of Höfn, where the crew stayed during filming. Both denied any knowledge with Pratt's version of events.

Considering how high and fast the troops fall, well in excess of the ten feet they were told, once they hit the swimming pool, they would be dead, as hitting the still water of the pool would be like impact with solid ground. Impact with the solid floor of the pool would also be fatal. They would, at the very least, show some sign of injury, instead of just walking away.
