"Ittymani " Malayalam movie, with a tag line.... 'Made in China'
Storyline is about Ittymani who was born and had his childhood in China, came to Kunnamkulam to have a flourishing business of 'duplicate' items. He bargains for commission for everything, including his mother's gallstones surgery. Unmarried middle aged gentleman, is handy for the society and the parish.
A great social message is conveyed through the movie.. 'aged parents are not taken care nor welcomed by their siblings'. Even though the message is strong, the script is weak, screenplay is pathetic. The Superstar Mohanlal, nor the 'star armamentarium' KPAC Lalitha, Radhika, Aju Varghese, Dharmajan, Hareesh... no body could save the plot. They all worked hard to save this sinking ship. Comics felt flat or below the belt. Dialogues were repeatition from old movies.
Onam release.. ? Sub standard.
5.5 on 10, movie for a 'die hard fan' of Mohanlal.
Debutant directors should have been more careful with the script and screenplay. Heavyweight social message delivered in a 'flat scale'

I am highly disappointed with this movie. The direction and making was so bad. Though the film contains a strong message for the society, the making made this a worst one. I strictly recommend this to family audience only. I mean only family audience.
What were the director and story writer/screenplay writer and editor thinking? Did the storyboard get developed as the film was shot?. Mohanlal's character was a caricature at best including the so called completely forgettable, moot Made in China ancestral reference that really has no point in this story.. Its a struggle to get past mohanlal's heavily botoxed cosmetically altered face. And as is to be expected all good supporting actors were given terrible lines. We find a nearly 50 year old bachelor self absorbed in making money character who stumbles into a series of events that unfold into a hitch pitch poorly knit film
Only Dharmajan, siddique and Sharada stood out with their impeccable acting and comedic timing. The visuals are treat and the made in China feels like an uncreative but perhaps a lucrative afterthought. If the movie' moral message was about the so called modern day social ill of elder abuse or neglect, it was built on a silly premise, and could have been dialed down after the second iteration of soapbox preaching from Mohanlals character. we were inundated with our eyes rolling back into our heads-enough already! It felt self righteous. Editing was below average. And of course mohanlal's live interest would be an actress old enough to be his grand daughter. What a waste of money and resources. Antony perumbavoor and production house should lay off the booze and employ creative writers and talent into movies instead of a fading star of old. I lose faith in Malayalam cinema when I see this tripe!
Weak script. First half was watchable just due to Salim Kumar and Hairsh. Second half and climax is super boring.
A standard Mohanlal film would involve the main lead acting as an outsider and the story would follow with the hero trying to solve a family's problems. The same old Mohanlal film story has been repeated in this film which we have seen in movies like Drama, Odiyan, Vismayathumbathu or Aaraam Thampuraan and many such films.
The Chinese angle of the film, even if it was the main part of the film, proved to be a deterrent in the flow of the film. Mohanlal and the supporting cast enacted there parts well but the cliches shown makes it a strict one time watch.
