Oh my god this movie sucks sooooo bad. It was all over the place! Her husband put on a wire at the end but it didn't go anywhere after that.. the movie just ended lol. I'll give it one star b/c it's based on a true story.
It's sad that a child raised by horrible parents can't make positive choices or decisions.
The unfortunate issue is how easily corrupt and bad choices become the norm for young African Americans ages 15-49, without a second thought.
This ghetto mentality, drug and gang infested behavior has hurt and defined some of the people of this group for life.
Trying to do or be better is something they don't subscribe to until they have spent most of their important years behind bars.
Yes, the parents/parent is to blame for their initial growing years, but at sometime in their lives, common sense one would hope would prevail. Killing each other for foolishness or selling drugs makes them feel empowered, but it only shows a lack of knowledge for whom they are or could be. I truly felt these types of movies have become the norm for African American because it speaks to some of their lives and lifestyles. But not to all.

I think the movie was very honest about what happens to so many young girls who start out innocent , and get dragged into a hard life.
She was surviving the only way she knew how.
The acting was bad, but the story was real.

Oh great, another movie from Maverick Entertainment. As soon as I saw that ethereal horse galloping across the screen, I have to admit that my expectations to the movie disappeared. Maverick Entertainment isn't exactly known for their stellar movies. But I still opted to watch the 2019 drama titled "Looking in the Mirror" as it was a movie that I hadn't already seen.
Writers Roslyn Ingram and Monica Mikell put together a straightforward script and storyline. It was somewhat generic and stereotypical, I have to point that out. It was watchable for what it was, but don't get your hopes up. And it was just fabulous when the grandmother drew a gun on her grandchildren. Seriously? Writers Roslyn Ingram and Monica Mikell actually went there with the narrative.
Of the entire cast ensemble, I was only familiar with Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa and he was hardly in the movie at all. The acting performances were for the most parts actually fair, nothing great or outstanding, but fair enough for what it was.
Now, I have to say that this movie was actually not too bad, taking into consideration that it was a movie from Maverick Entertainment. I am not saying that "Looking in the Mirror" is a great movie neither, but it was actually better than most of the questionable movies that Maverick Entertainment has been spewing out.
Hardly a movie that warrants more than a single viewing, providing you last through the entire movie the first time around. Nor is it a movie that I would recommend for you to rush out and get to watch.
My rating of directors Derrick Hammond and James Dibz Hunter's 2019 movie "Looking in the Mirror" lands on a very, very generous four out of ten stars.

The acting was awful, the narration was depressing and the overall movie needs to be removed from all viewing platforms. The main character's pathetic monotone sad voice set the tone for a really lifeless movie. The budget could not have been no more than $1000.00 dollars and that's being generous. I cannot believe I sat through this catastrophy an hour plus time I can not get back. Just because you can make a movie does not mean you should, please leave this to those who actually went to school and studied the trade and keep these ghetto thespians standing on the corners at the local liquor stores.
