Finding You is an entertaining romantic drama. It stars Rose Reid as the adorable Finley Sinclair, a violinist who is focused on being accepted to the Manhattan Conservatory of Music. After a failed audition she and her mother decide that spending a semester in Ireland may help her (as it did her older brother several years earlier). While in Ireland she becomes entangled in distractions such as a relationship with a world-famous actor, dealing with a cranky old lady who is living out her last few months in a care home, and searching for a cross in a cemetery which her brother had drawn for her for some mysterious reason. These distractions, however, all end up helping her in achieving her goal and more.
I have heard some criticism of this film for having too many plotlines but life itself often has more than one plotline going on at the same time does it not? As long as the story lines coexist together smoothly and without any holes, as they do exceptionally well in this case, I see no reason to find this as a fault. For a two-hour film it never drags on or leaves the viewer asking how much longer it will go on.
Finding You is a lovely and uplifting film that I highly recommend!

Loved this movie, story was simple and hearty. The Irish landscape was so beautiful. Kept me entertained throughout :)
There are no surprises in this story of a grieving young American woman on a visit to Ireland and a Hollywood star who fall in love and find their true selves. Rose Reid and Jedidiah Goodacre make a charming couple and the beautiful Irish countryside and medieval town of Carlingford more than make up for the plot's shortcomings.
We need more movies like this one, and far less of all the negative 'whoopie, we're all terrible people, so let's all get killed' junk Hollywood is so fond of these days. I read many of the negative reviews before I watched this film, one the entire family could enjoy, and that's what moved this movie to the top of my 'watch this next' list. Glad I did. Well written, acted, directed, and with an outstanding soundtrack.
No token characters, so if you're expecting to find an LGBT character, or a minority where one wouldn't normally expect one to be present, or a car chase, explosion, shoot-out, bad cops, or any of the other Hollywood tropes we're seeing elsewhere, or anything else coming off the assembly line.
This is a fine mix of established veteran actors and new young fresh faces presenting a story that has a great deal of depth. If you don't come away feeling good about the world after this one, go find yourself a mental health expert. You're clinically depressed, and in need of help.
More of this, please.

Sweet, fresh love story that takes places on the beautiful Irish coast, Finding You takes you on a journey of young romance that your heart won't soon forget.

- WissenswertesRose Reid on whether she could play the violin: "I would definitely not call myself proficient, at least not to the extent that Finley is by far. I played 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star', and that was it," she says with a laugh. "But we spent three months, countless hours every other day with a violin coach and kind of worked our way up to being able to play the songs that you see me playing on screen."
- PatzerWhen Nora gives Finley Alex's sketch book, she says she found the book under a dresser when cleaning the room for Finley but when they met at the airport Nora told Finley they had inherited a guesthouse 3 months earlier.
