Charley's Black Magic

A black, teardrop-shaped image with Harold Berens sounding like Eddie Anderson explains that the mines have to be reorganized for prices to drop.... and they are working on that now.

That's as of the time this short cartoon was made by Halas and Batchelor. Although there's still some coal mined in Britain, the last coal-fueled power plant on the island shut down two months ago. My source indicates that if all the coal that had been mined had been taken from the surface, the average altitude of Great Britain would be a touch over three inches lower. With global warming threatening a rise in sea level, that might be missed.
