There are mockumantaries in the style of 'The Office' that are very good, most recently the wonder BBC comedy 'This Country', but you've got to do something different with the format and most importantly it has to actually be funny, this is neither funny nor original which is a shame because I like Sally Phillips.
I just discovered this series and watched the first two episodes of series 2. Some reviewers are comparing it to The Office, but it was cringey (which I didn't overly appreciate) and The Tourist Trap is not. I prefer The Tourist Trap. I thought some of the concepts were very clever and my husband and I both really enjoyed watching it (from Scotland). Especially liked the outdoor scenes and it's a double win for Wales because viewers are being encouraged to visit it.
I suspected a tourist office would be just like this. I was in England when I watched it the first time. Now I live in Wales - it's spot on.
It's far from genius, but the cast is good and it's refreshing to see a BBC comedy that at least raises a few laughs - and to see one of Britain's 'Celtic nations' able to laugh at itself. Catch Scotland doing that! I'm afraid the Ronnie Ancona character is all too accurate....
As for the Office, it's no more an Office clone than The Office cloned I'm Alan Partridge or The Royle Family; 'fly on the wall' is an established sitcom style now. It's much more like 2012 and W1A, but better I think.

It's just - not funny. It's cringeingly unfunny. Now I am told by the site that those two sentences is "too short" to be a review. But sadly I think those two sentences says all that needs to be said about such an embarrassing attempt at being anything that could qualify as part of a "Festival of Funny". It isn't!
