Image
Jason Aldean is known for his outlaw country attitude. He sparked controversy in 2023 with the release of his hit song “Try That in a Small Town.” The lyrics spoke of townspeople protecting each other but the video was filmed at the site of a lynching, which caused some to claim racism.

Conan Gray Wears His Heart on His Sleeve Confidently and Comfortably
Image
Upon announcing Wishbone earlier this year, Conan Gray described the experience of these songs pouring out of him over the last two years. His latest was written mostly alone while on tour and became “an egregiously niche soundtrack” to his own life and for the friends he let hear it as the music came togerher.

As Wishbone unfolds, that revelatory intimacy is embroidered into the lyrics and production, a return to form after the glittery synths and New Wave of last year’s Max Martin-assisted Found Heaven. Gray’s latest is tender and sweet,...

Francis Ford Coppola Doesn’t Want Anyone to Own ‘Megalopolis’
Image
Ah, Megalopolis. The movie that flopped in so many possible ways is still a topic we are discussing here on Fiction Horizon. Why? Well, Francis Ford Coppola obviously wants us to talk about it and so, here we are.

Megalopolis is a topic we’ve covered extensively here, and we’ve written a lot about the movie’s production process, the horrible reviews, as well as how it flopped completely at the box office, meaning that Coppola won’t be able to get his personal investment back.

But, Coppola is adamant in defending his movie, and while confirming that it is now selling out screenings, he also discussed the movie’s home release, which still hasn’t happened, despite there seemingly being no valid reason for that.

Care Bears: Unlock the Magic transports viewers to Care‑a‑Lot’s Silver Lining realm, where storm clouds have drained the Power of the Stars and cast a gray veil over once‑bright fields. Their distinct personalities surface in every task—whether they’re guiding Whiffles past drifting thunderheads or piecing together star fragments in a memory‑match game.

New ‘Harry Potter’ Series Locks Eyes on Fan-Favorite Actor As Hagrid
Image
Let's hope the Hogwarts grounds have been reinforced for some reenactments of Bad Boys II and the freezers are stocked with Cornettos, because, according to Deadline, British actor-comedian Nick Frost is nearing a deal to play the beloved half-giant Rubeus Hagrid in HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series. If confirmed, the Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead star will step into the enormous boots once worn by the late Robbie Coltrane, who portrayed Hagrid across all eight films in the original Warner Bros. franchise.

Frost would join an already high-profile ensemble reportedly including John Lithgow as Professor Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape—all previously reported as nearing deals for the project. HBO declined to comment on the casting news, offering only a general statement: “We appreciate that such a high-profile series will draw a lot of rumor and speculation. As we make our way through pre-production,...

Sanji Dreaming About Nami Is Expected but Zoro Not Dreaming About Robin or Luffy Can Be a Shocker to One Piece Fans
Image
In One Piece, it’s no news that Sanji and Zoro have an intense rivalry. It can be called a sort of playful but competitive relationship where they are constantly bickering, but when push comes to shove, they will lay down their lives for the other.

Roronoa Zoro | Credits: Toei Animation

They have massive respect for each other’s abilities, but their matches keep ending in draws, and no one can say for sure which of them is stronger. That is the reason that they have never been able to make the other back down. Once, when they fight, they keep going until they are extremely exhausted and cannot move.

Something very interesting happens during that scene as both Sanji and Zoro slip into fantasies due to their intense desire to win a battle against the other, and they start dreaming about what it would be like when they win and how they would celebrate.

The 10 Most Intriguing Film Comedies of 2025
Image
How funny is 2025 going to be?

Last year wasn’t great for comedies, with movies like The Fall Guy and If failing at the box office. Could 2025 be a rebound? It’s possible, which inspired me to put together a list of the 10 comedies I’m most intrigued to see this year. Some are much-awaited sequels to beloved movies. Others are daring swings by acclaimed indie directors. And one of them features Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd at odds. Clearly, there’s something for everyone in 2025.

I organized my picks by release date, putting movies that don’t yet have a fixed spot on the calendar at the end in alphabetical order. But, as always, it’s a roll of the dice when you’re putting together a guide like this. I haven’t seen any of these movies, so I’m really just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.

Who Put Harry Potter's Name In The Goblet Of Fire (And Why)
Image
It's an understatement to say that, during his time as a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Harry Potter — played on-screen by Daniel Radcliffe — gets into a ton of trouble. What's unfair about this is that, to Harry's credit, it's not usually his fault; as a baby, he managed to reverse a killing curse upon the Dark Lord Voldemort (eventually played by Ralph Fiennes in the film franchise) and created a deadly lifelong rivalry, which he certainly didn't intend to do. Throughout his first few years at Hogwarts, Voldemort, who hasn't yet returned to his corporeal form, employs a few tricks — from a haunted diary to an old henchman to a possessed professor — to try and attack Harry, but there's not much he can do without a body. This is all to say that in the fourth book and film, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," Voldemort...

3 Reasons Why Ridley Scott’s Comparison of Gladiator 2’s Character to Donald Trump Might Just Be Right
Image
As soon as Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated Gladiator 2 hit the theatres, people couldn’t stop praising a certain veteran actor for his screen-stealing performance. He was undoubtedly one of the best things about the movie, and his portrayal of the Roman emperor was epic.

Paul Mescal in Gladiator 2 | Scott Free Productions

Scott has been known to have an eye for casting the right talent, and he was spot-on about this seasoned artist. However, the director has made some comparisons of the larger-than-life character to Donald Trump. So let’s look at the context in which Scott made this statement, and why he might be somewhat correct.

White Bird Review: Kindling Hope in Humanity’s Darkest Hours
Image
Set in wartime France, White Bird is the moving tale of Sara, a young girl hiding from Nazi occupiers, and Julian, the classmate who protects her. Adapted from R.J. Palacio’s acclaimed graphic novel, director Marc Forster crafts a story that shines light on humanity’s resilience in even our darkest of times.

Much like Palacio’s earlier work Wonder, which explored a boy learning to accept himself despite bullying, White Bird finds the power in treating others with compassion. This time the setting is German-occupied Alsace in 1942, where Jewish teenager Sara must go into hiding after Nazis raid her town. When her friend Julian offers shelter in his family’s barn, an unlikely bond forms that helps Sara and Julian endure the months-long ordeal.

Forster skillfully brings this nuanced story to cinematic life. Newcomers Ariella Glaser and Orlando Schwerdt anchor the film with moving portrayals of Sara and Julian,...

Rick Lagina and Marty Lagina in Die Schatzsucher von Oak Island (2014)
The Curse of Oak Island: Who is Nova Scotia’s legendary blacksmith Carmen Legge?
Rick Lagina and Marty Lagina in Die Schatzsucher von Oak Island (2014)
Nova Scotia’s legendary blacksmith Carmen Legge has been a firm fan favorite on The Curse of Oak Island since he first appeared in Season 6.

Since that first appearance in 2019, Carmen has been featured in 41 episodes of The Curse of Oak Island, and one episode of the spin-off show Drilling Down.

Carmen started his blacksmithing career at the New Ross Farm Museum, a Nova Scotia agricultural museum, where he wowed visitors with his skills in old-time blacksmithing.

He is now regularly called upon by the Lagina brothers and their team to investigate and identify metal artifacts found on Oak Island. His professional but laid-back and calming style has endeared him to many viewers.

Carmen has a thick Nova Scotian accent, meaning he is usually subtitled on the show. In a recent interview, he claimed that producers added the subtitles after discovering lipreaders couldn’t read his lips.

He also blamed his disjointed speech.

All 14 Classes Taught At Hogwarts In Harry Potter, Ranked
Image
Some Hogwarts classes are more enjoyable and necessary than others, like Defense Against the Dark Arts and Care of Magical Creatures. The appeal of Hogwarts classes is subjective, influenced by real-world interests and professors' teaching abilities. Classes like Divination, History of Magic, and Muggle Studies have varying usefulness and engagement levels.

Throughout the Harry Potter books, the story confirms that there are more than a dozen classes taught at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, some of which are more enjoyable than others. Some classes are simply necessary for survival, such as Defence Against the Dark Arts, while others are more obscure but no less captivating, like Care of Magical Creatures. A surprising number of classes don't involve performing any actual magic, but studying the magical effects of natural phenomena. The curriculum at Hogwarts is rich and varied, full of fascinating and magical subjects, but some are undeniably more important (and interesting) than others.

Quick Links Some Guys Walk Into a Diner... Jocelin Donahue's Diner Jim Cummings Is a Star

There's a rare type of film that breaks halfway through or so, where the story we've been following suddenly shifts into something totally unexpected, or outright cuts to new characters completely. Of course, Alfred Hitchock's Psycho is famous for this, and it seems to be most prominent in horror films like that Audition, One Cut of the Dead, From Dusk Till Dawn, The Empty Man, and Zach Cregger's recent film, Barbarian. Now add Francis Galluppi's feature film debut, the deliciously tense Western thriller, The Last Stop in Yuma County, which has finally hit the masses this week. Its success on the festival circuit led to Galluppi being tapped to helm one of the next installments in the timeless Evil Dead franchise.

Judge Accuses Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Of Spreading False Information In Push To Ban Transgender Health Care
Image
According a federal judge, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has frequently spread false information about doctors “mutilating” transgender children.

Judge Robert Hinkle stated that DeSantis made false claims in a push for a ban against transgender health care to children regardless of the fact that there have been no documented cases of procedures.

DeSantis signed a bill into law in late May that would make it unlawful for health care professionals to offer gender-affirming medical care to minors. This medical care included puberty blockers, hormone replacement therapy and surgeries.

Hinkle has blocked the law’s enforcement pending the trial’s outcome.

Three families from Florida who have transgender children sued the state.

The DeSantis administration argued that the law would inflict harm onto their children.

Opponents argued that the law would interfere with parents rights to make medical decisions for their children.

Hinkle told state attorney Mohammad Jazil during a...

Dance Moms Set for Lifetime Reunion, but Don't Expect Abby Lee Miller to Return
Dance Moms (2011)
Once upon a time, Dance Moms was one of the biggest hits on cable TV.

Now, Lifetime is attempting to capitalize on its success with a reunion special set to air in 2014.

Airing from 2011-2019, the hit series focused on Abby Lee Miller as she ran her Abby Lee Dance Company.

That entailed her coaching a team as they learned their dances and competed in tournaments.

The series' success probably stemmed from the drama between Miller and the contestants' parents.

If you watch Dance Moms online, you know what we mean: Abby had countless spats with the parents throughout the show's eight-season run.

Much of the arguments ranged from Abby's treatment of the children to parents being displeased about creative choices from Abby.

It was a lot, and now, it's time for some of the show's most famous faces to return and unpack all of that drama.

Details about the...

Britney Spears Almost Starred Opposite Ryan Gosling in The Notebook
Image
Britney Spears almost starred as Allie Hamilton in the 2004 romantic drama The Notebook before the role went to Rachel McAdams.

In a new excerpt from her memoir The Woman in Me via People, Spears touched on how she was almost cast as The Notebook's female lead opposite Ryan Gosling. "The Notebook casting came down to me and Rachel McAdams, and even though it would have been fun to reconnect with Ryan Gosling after our time on the Mickey Mouse Club, I'm glad I didn't do it," the singer wrote. "If I had, instead of working on my album In the Zone, I'd have been acting like a 1940s heiress day and night," she continued, referencing her inability to separate herself from the characters she played in her short time as an actor.

Totally Killer Director Has A Theory Why Comedians Make Good Horror Movies [Exclusive Interview]
Image
If you look at Nahnatchka Khan's filmography, you won't see many titles suggesting she'd be a good fit for a bloody slasher movie. However, you will see plenty of titles that suggest she'd be ideal for a time traveling comedy about mothers and daughters, and how culture has shifted over the past 30 years. The fact that she can deliver a nasty slasher sequence in the new horror comedy "Totally Killer" will leave fans of her past work a little dizzy.

"Totally Killer" is built around one heck of a high concept pitch: What if a modern teen (Kieran Shipka), grieving the death of her murdered mother, goes back in time to the '80s to stop the killer's initial reign of terror, lower the body count, and ensure her mom's survival in the present? It's "Back to the Future" with a body count, leaning on '80s tropes without ever getting too nostalgic.

How ‘Yellowjackets’ Star Christina Ricci Navigates Mental Health: ‘I Talk to Myself as Though I’m a Little Girl When I’m Really Sad’ (Video)
Marc Summers in Unwrapped (2001)
During this week’s episode of WrapWomen’s “UnWrapped” Podcast, “Yellowjackets” star Christina Ricci opened up about the “abuse” and “childhood trauma” she faced growing up and how she continues to navigate her mental health as an adult.

The actress, who got her big break playing Wednesday Addams in the 1991 film “The Addams Family” said that mental health wasn’t a big topic back then. Ricci has said she suffered from anorexia as a teenager and was sexually assaulted as a child. “There was no discussion at that time about trauma, and about recovering from those things, about Ptsd,” she said. As a result, she ended up “acting out and coping in ways that weren’t good.”

Nowadays, the mother of two still finds it hard to find time to focus on her mental health. “I have a baby and an 8-year-old. So my days are really busy,” Ricci said.

Love Is Blind season 4 may have just ended, but the series is being called out in a major way, due to a brand-new exposé, which details less-than-glamorous aspects of the production. 9 Harry Potter Characters Cut From The Movies That The Remake Can Restore
Image
A Harry Potter TV series could soon become a reality, and it would mean a chance to restore book characters who had been cut from the films. The movies had a limited time to tell the complex tale of the Boy Who Lived and therefore were forced to remove characters that didn't serve the central plot or would have been too costly to include. However, a TV series would have plenty of time to remedy this—which would mean an adaptation far more faithful to the source material.

Warner Bros is reportedly (via Bloomberg) working on a deal that would see Harry Potter turned into a TV series. This would be expected to air on streaming services (likely HBO) and cable and dedicate a season to each of J.K. Rowling's books. This would mean that each of Harry's adventures—and the characters he met along the way—would get...

Anxiety post cardiac arrest more common in women than men: Study
Image
London, March 27 (Ians) Women are more likely to experience long-term anxiety after cardiac arrest than men, finds a study.

The study, presented at Esc Acute CardioVascular Care 2023, a scientific congress of the European Society of Cardiology (Esc), revealed that more than 40 per cent of women report anxiety four months after a cardiac arrest compared with 23 per cent of men.

Cardiac arrest causes one in five deaths in industrialised countries. The heart unexpectedly stops pumping blood around the body and if flow is not restored quickly, the individual passes out and dies within 10 to 20 minutes.

Less than 10 per cent of people who have a cardiac arrest survive to hospital discharge.

Anxiety and depression are frequent after critical illness and are strongly associated with reduced quality of life in patients and relatives.

“Cardiac arrest occurs with little or no warning and it’s common to feel anxious and low afterwards,” said Dr.

SAG-AFTRA Board Approves New Agreement With AMPTP Limiting Exclusivity in TV Contracts
Sheridan Smith in Care (2018)
The national board of SAG-AFTRA approved a new agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) on Saturday, which will limit exclusivity in television actors’ contracts. The vote was almost unanimous, with 95.5 in favor of the measure.

The new deal will markedly cut down the time that contracts can hold series regulars back from working on other projects simultaneously and will apply to all work under contracts entered into on or after Jan. 1, 2023.

Among the key improvements to exclusivity rules for all series regulars:

Creation of a “conflict-free window” of at least three months during each season in which performers may accept a permitted appearance on another show or network without first confirming availability and potential scheduling. This “conflict-free window” is not mandatory where the filming schedule between seasons is less than 4 months.

It Took Just 4 Days in Vegas to Make Movie Theaters Look Cool Again
Image
The movie-theater industry officially returned to normal at CinemaCon 2022, and we’re leaving Las Vegas with an Xl-sized popcorn bucket filled with all the eventizing one can stomach. Here’s what we know after the Monday-Thursday Caesars Palace celebration.

Day-and-Date Is Public Enemy Number One

Thousands of CinemaCon attendees, all with a common goal: Death to the day-and-date release. The exhibitors who packed the Colosseum auditorium have had enough of losing money to streamers. Warner Bros. was the biggest offender; on Tuesday, Warners executives made it exquisitely clear to the theater owners that the HBO Max experiment was a one-and-done to get through Covid.

That Makes Piracy Public Enemy Number Two

If any theater operator needs an argument against day-and-date that isn’t just bitching about the bottom line, may we interest you in the anti-piracy defense? As John Fithian, NATO president & CEO declared, “The simultaneous release is dead as a serious business model,...

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Rolling Stone may receive an affiliate commission.

What do musicians do after selling millions of records and tour tickets? They get into merchandise.

Usually, that means partnering with a brand for a limited-edition drop — maybe sneakers or makeup. Sometimes, artists even end up developing billion-dollar brands of their own, like Kanye with Yeezy or Rihanna with Fenty.

But for every artist-brand collection that kind of makes sense (see: Dua Lipa’s fashion drop with Puma...

Telluride: Peter Dinklage Says ‘It’s Ok to Laugh at Me’ and Recalls Mocking ‘Twin Peaks’ in His First Role
Image
Peter Dinklage may be one of the most recognizable actors working today, but that doesn’t limit his range. As a clip reel of his nearly 30-year career in film and TV proved ahead of a tribute on the first day of the Telluride Film Festival, Dinklage can play a sensitive loner (“The Station Agent”) just as well as an icy mob boss (“I Care a Lot”) and the anarchic schemer Tyrion Lannister from “Game of Thrones.” The screening of his new movie that followed a brief onstage conversation, “Cyrano,” also proved that Dinklage can sing.

Director Joe Wright’s lavish adaptation of the 2019 off-Broadway musical, written by Dinklage’s wife Erica Schmidt, finds the actor embodying Cyrano de Bergerac as a swashbuckling 17th century wordsmith who buries his attraction to childhood friend Roxanne (Haley Bennett) by helping an inarticulate guardsman (Kelvin Harrison Jr.) romance the woman by writing love letters for him.

‘Love Island’ U.K. Season 7 Cast Revealed as ITV Bosses Urge Fans to Use Caution on Social Media
Image
ITV’s top dating reality series, “Love Island,” has revealed its contestants — or “Islanders” as they’re known on the show — for its seventh season.

They include self-described “social butterfly” Liberty Poole, a waitress and marketing student; luxury events host Aaron Francis, who has worked at not one but two royal weddings; and “outrageous” civil servant Sharon Gaffka, who, during a stint at the Department of Health, spent part of the pandemic delivering testing kits and managing operations.

The trio will be joined by Hugo Hammond, a perennially single physical education teacher; model and “party girl” Shannon Singh; water engineer Jake Cornish, who recently emerged from a seven-year relationship; and fashion blogger Kaz Kamwi, who describes herself as “dramatic.” “Laid-back” labourer Brad McClelland has also been added to the line-up.

The rest of the cast will be revealed throughout Monday. The show, which is filmed in a Mallorca villa, uses...

Kim Dickens and Lennie James in Fear the Walking Dead (2015)
Fear the Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 10 Review: Handle with Care
Kim Dickens and Lennie James in Fear the Walking Dead (2015)
This Fear the Walking Dead review contains spoilers.

Fear the Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 10

If there’s been one, consistent failing of Fear the Walking Dead’s sixth season, it’s that the show’s original cast of characters have been sidelined in favor of newer arrivals like Morgan, John, Al, June, et al. While these new characters have featured in some of the show’s best episodes to date, that doesn’t mean Fear stalwarts like Alicia, Strand, and Daniel have no good stories left to tell. Indeed, what works so well about this week’s “Handle with Care” is that it puts everyone’s favorite barber front and center as he tries to uncover a possible traitor within the community’s walls. Amidst the growing distrust and paranoia, “Handle with Care” reminds us that old wounds often run very, very deep. And as we know, Daniel carries scars both seen and unseen.

‘The Power’ Trailer: BAFTA Nominee Corinna Faith Makes Her Feature Debut with a Chilling Blackout Thriller
Image
October doesn’t have to be the exclusive month of chilling, thrilling films, and no one recognizes that more acutely than horror streamer Shudder, which recently announced a cheeky “Halfway to Halloween Month” (read: April), dedicated to the kind of fresh genre programming usually relegated to autumn. Included in that stacked assortment of new programming is Corinna Faith’s “The Power,” an alluring-sounding thriller that joins the streaming outfit’s steadily growing body of original films.

An entrant in the 2018 edition of the Brit List, the much-anticipated period thriller uses real history to unspool a supernatural thriller. Set in the early winter of 1974, the film picks up during the “Three-Day Week” period in the UK, during which a combination of power conservation and striking miners plunged the country into a planned, partial blackout for over two months. Against that already unnerving backdrop, Faith readies a story that would be scary,...
