Solid acting, great story fantastic music intro, immotional and over all just perfect.
This series talks about two story line (before the war with colorful picture) and (during the war with black and white picture). The director Allaith Hajo did epic job in this series with Salloum Haddad and Mahmoud nasr and couple of Syrian actors. it's must watch
Serian Dramas have always held a special place in my heart, but this drama really stands out for its unique script-writing, camera choices, music, and its brilliant casting choice.
The decision to portray the present with a black and white background is just spot on. The black and white background not only hints at the destruction of the present and the miserable conditions of Syria at that time, but indirectly leads viewers to focus more on the character's body language and the dialogue among them more than the beauty the element of color would usaully add to the physical appearance. It moreover presents a paradox, aiming to emphasize the state of anarchy Syria has been living in. Usually, it is the past that is reflected in black and white, not the present.
The great work of the camera could have not been vividly had its immense effect hadn't the script been well crafted. Hasan Sami Yusuf did a fine yet exceptional job in writing the script. The scenes were so vivid and necessary to the delivery of his dialogue. He knitted the fabric in a so graceful, clever and delicate way that the characters, dialogue, scenes, storyline and plot just distinguishedly fit together and serve one another.
The choice of actors is also a major factor in the success of this series. One could notice the harmony and solidarity among characters in their acting performance on screen.
Last but not least, chapeau Iyad Rimawi for your composition of the series's music pieces. Your music matches the gist of the storyline and scenes shot. You have managed to maintain your own style of music and instrument usage which nonetheless, speak human words and feelings, not just those of Syria.
To all those who contributed so much to bring this show to the big screen, thank you. I have enjoyed each and every second of watching and rewatching this drama. Chapeau!

Al-Nadam is more than just a television series to me; it's a precious memory from a time when Syrian drama was struggling to maintain its soul amidst the turmoil of the revolution. While many shows during that period fell into cliché or propaganda, this series stood out with its deep emotional layers, powerful storytelling, and exceptional performances.
The character of "Urwa" resonated deeply with me-not just as a writer caught between past and present, but as a symbol of a lost generation torn between hope and regret. The show's ability to balance personal pain with a collective national narrative is rare and masterful.
Even years later, Al-Nadam remains one of the few series that truly captured the Syrian experience with honesty, artistry, and humanity. For me, it represents both the sorrow and beauty of remembering-of what was, and what could have been.
