Underrated, sweet story of how a single father views his only daughter growing up while slowly losing his spot at the pedestal of her life. Well, not really.
French cinematographers remained faithful to their original and innovative approach to the movie production, not giving a damn, respectfully, about how it might be perceived by global audience as long as it makes a good storyline.
I loved it for its originality, fairytale innocence and of course, the cast who fit it just perfect.
In this age we truly lack sweet stories like this one and I wish we'd push more European production to the big screen.

A French comedy adventure and magic film, whose protagonist looks a lot like my goddaughter, Sophia, who is also 11 years old, and makes the same faces and grimaces (it must be her age). I left it to watch this one with her, but she didn't like it as much, and made her grimaces, like Sophia replacing the princes... Very enjoyable and fun, it represents the sullen phase of pre-adolescence well...
Every night when Sofia falls asleep, her father Djibi takes her to "Storyland", a fantasy film studio where her extraordinary fairy tale adventures come to life and Djibi stars in the lead role of Prince Charming.

8/10. I gave it a 10 because I think the current 5.1 is way too low
The story follows a single father very dedicated to provide a happy growing up experience to his daughter by way of storytelling. All is well until teenhood interferes, so both father and daughter have to learn to handle it :-)
The costumes in the story world are bright and happy. The real life story is honest but also positive.
I personally did not find anything wrong with the movie, it's message, its direction, its acting, etc.
The only reason I think it's an 8/10 is because of me: I'm a grown up and not a parent. Still I rated it 10/10 because I don't understand the current 5.1 rating. Who hurt you? :D

Wonderful story that only French production can come up.
It really connects future and past, and makes you think about the relationship you need to have with your child.
It definitely deserves higher grade than current (5.4).
How many times I wathed bad movies with grade higher than 7, and when I sam 5.4 I was unsure should I watch it or not.
Oh boy what a mistake I would make if I didn't watch it.
Don't let the first 15min discourage you, after that it starts to be very interesting.
Omar Sy is really great actor.
At the end I might be bias because French movies really suits me, from comedy to drama.

This is a mixture of fairy tale and a story about parenting in general. There are so many little things woven into this and it still does not feel overloaded. It actually is a nice little movie that could - Omar Sy as charismatic as ever and a great father in one world and a Prince in the other. Though both roles seem to be dangerous close to extincion ... as his daughter grows up, her interests shift. And so do her views on who her Prince is ... sweet but also quite eloquent and really well told.
You may have to really concentrate and stick with what is being told, not confusing the worlds. But the movie really is able to make it clear where you are at all times. It also has some stabs at what we are willing to do, to keep the status quo (like using other people), not being forgotten or rather trying everything we can to stay relevant ... as I already stated, there is so much and depending on where you are in your life, this will touch you more or less I reckon.

- WissenswertesThe original script, written by Bruno Merle, had the Dad switch places with the Prince; the Prince had to take care of Sofia in the real world, while the Dad had to make his way out of Story-World.
