Strip away all of these skyscrapers, their glass windows, packaged meats, and cell-phones. Two people, really living next to one another, knowing both the comfort and horrors of life. Each swell of life's tide carrying out, just a little bit more away from the place they used to call home, makes the couple, and their life more valuable than any crest whitening strip, or gucci stiletto we worship in so many places.
If you're wishing for the real world, you'll find it here, haunting, unforgettable, and beautiful to the core even in the depth of its most terrible moments.
More lives would be valued, if more lives were given up for the loneliness of others. 🙏🏼Amen

A quiet watching experiencia, Wiñaypacha takes us into the Andean paradise as we witness the struggle of old couple that lives alone in the high mountains, in their little stone house alongside their dog, sheep, and a llama. A simplistic premise, it launches you into a very intimate and rather sad experience about solitude, old age, and the beauty of silence.
Filmed in a very minimalist way, Wiñaypacha is all about the silent beauty of the Andes as a backdrop, with the rather cruel yet honest way of living of two old people that expect their son return, something that feels each day more and more distant.
There's a very unique and interesting simplicity to this film that enthralls you. There's little dialogue, and most of the film consists of simply watching this couple live alone, and yet, you can't help but feel their struggle with their every move, as they fight against the elements to survive in an uncaring world where people shouldn't grow old. It moves you, and it breaks you. To watch vulnerable people being so alone, so far away from modernity, crumble away in complete silence, with no one around. Wiñaypacha is a honest, tragic film that will touch your soul with desperation and kindness.

I watched Wiñaypacha as I was reading Nietzsche's "Beyond Good and Evil". In chapter 5 he writes: "here as everywhere, Nature shows herself as she is: in all her extravagant and indifferent magnificence!"
I believe it describes the sentiment of this wonderful film, perfectly. As you will notice from the reviews, you will either get it and love it or not get it and hate it. This brilliant film is a perfect illustration of the beautiful tragedy that life is.
Congratulations to Óscar Catacora for producing such an earnest masterpiece. I do hope it comes to get the recognition it deserves. I loved it!

A film that explores the truth about the forgotten places in the andes not only in Peru but on The andean countrys.
This movie is really touching, Wiñaypacha could be some of the most beautiful films that I've could ever seen, it tries to express the simplicity of the andean life, that sometimes life can be really hard and lonliness doesn't exist if you are with the person you love.
