My wife and I were just like them. We now have 27 year old and 25 year old sons, who are successful emotionally and financially. And their mom and I have 28 years together.
Our sons are our best friends. Unfortunately, they don't speak much to the family members who divided their family when they were young, now that they're mature enough to see what happened. Food for thought...
