‘Industry’ Season 4 Has Wrapped Filming: When Does It Premiere? Everything We Know
Image
Industry Season 4 is on the horizon. The gripping HBO finance drama is going to look much different in Season 4 with Harry Lawtey having exited as Rob after three seasons and a handful of new cast members, such as The Handmaid’s Tale‘s Max Minghella, Kiernan Shipka, Kal Penn, Charlie Heaton, and more joining the fold. The season wrapped filming earlier this month, so when does it return? Industry gives an insider’s view of the blackbox of high finance following a group of young bankers as they forge their identities within the pressure cooker environment and sex and drug-fueled blitz of international bank Pierpoint & Co’s London office. Season 3 concluded...

Industry Lost Its Plot When It Shifted Away from Its Younger Characters
Image
Out of all the dramas I’ve watched this year, Industry was the first show to really hook me in.

The first season is easily one of the most thrilling and tense seasons of a TV drama in recent years.

However, as I continued watching the show, I began to slowly lose interest in the story and found that none of the subsequent seasons had the same draw as Industry Season 1.

(Photograph by Simon Ridgway/HBO)

Even ahead of a new season, there’s hesitancy that it’ll hold up to the quality of its past.

Upon reflecting on this show, Industry began losing its appeal by shifting its perspective...

‘Alien: Romulus’ Star Reportedly Front-Runner For Black Panther After Chadwick Boseman
Image
Marvel is reportedly looking to recast Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa in the upcoming Black Panther sequel, and the frontrunner is apparently Alien: Romulus star David Jonsson. The actor played Andy Carradine in the sci-fi horror movie and is also known for his roles in Industry, Rye Lane, and The Road Trip.

Industry insider Jeff Sneider revealed the scoop on The Hot Mic podcast, stating that the MCU had already begun its process of casting the new X-Men in the Mutant Saga and that they were potentially looking at David Jonsson for T’Challa.

I think the guy who is shaping up to be and you know, I don’t have any inside info really, but I think David Jonsson is really looking pretty good for that.

The actor will be seen next in the Stephen King adaptation The Long Walk, and Sneider mentioned that the actor’s physique...

'Industry' Confirms Exit of Most Hated Character Ahead of Season 4
Image
The critically acclaimed HBO financial thriller featuring the messiest characters imaginable is set to return with a fourth season soon, but before then, we have news about one of its main stars. Industry, created by former investment bankers Mickey Down and KonradKay, got a Season 4 renewal in September 2024, but without a release date announced. As of this writing, a precise date has still not been revealed, but in the meantime, fans have kept busy with some interesting casting updates, the most recent of which involves the exit of ahighly disliked character.

Often regarded as the most hated character in Industry, Kenny Kilbane has supposedly departed ahead of Season 4, as confirmed in a new report. Conor MacNeill, who has portrayed the controversial character since Season 1, shared the news, saying, "Kenny's gone from Pierpoint – at the end of season 3, Pierpoint is gone itself. David Jonsson On The Long Walk, Why Rye Lane Endures, And His Huge Ambitions
Image
There is a specific smile that David Jonsson has in his repertoire: head slightly bowed, eyes looking upwards, mouth lopsided at the corners. It is shy but suave; friendly but full of secrets. He is an actor who can be relied upon to bring a strange other-worldliness to every role he plays.

At 31, Jonsson is best known as old-Etonian investment banker Gus in the zeitgeist-y HBO series Industry, south London “sad-boi” Dom in 2023’s much-beloved romcom Rye Lane, and Andy, an AI ‘stimulant’ with more heart than most humans, in Alien: Romulus. Such character types might have felt over-familiar in another actor’s hands, but through Jonsson’s rare qualities, they are reinvigorated almost beyond recognition.

This February, audiences declared themselves smitten, honouring him with the BAFTA Rising Star Award. His acceptance speech displayed that combination of sparkling social intelligence and inner calm which, in conversation, grants Jonsson an uncanny...

Max Minghella in Talks to Join DC Studios Horror Movie ‘Clayface’
Image
Max Minghella, one of the stars of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, is in final negotiations to join the cast of Clayface, the next DC Studios movie heading into production.

Minghella will join Tom Rhys Harries and Naomi Ackie in the horror movie being directed by Speak No Evil director James Watkins. It goes into production this fall in the UK.

Mike Flanagan wrote the script for Clayface, a body-horror thriller centered on a Batman villain known for his ability to alter his appearance

The project is described as having shades and structure of The Fly, David Cronenberg’s 1986 feature that starred Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis and centered on the tragic relationship between a scientist who becomes fused with the DNA of a fly and the journalist writing about his discovery.

Clayface, which sources have said will have a budget in the mid-$40 million range, centers on an ascending...

Industry Season 4 Wraps Filming In Celebratory BTS Video
Image
Industry, one of the best HBO shows currently airing, just wrapped filming its fourth season, which means you have plenty of time to catch up if you aren't already watching this masterpiece. Created by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, Industry follows a group of twenty-something London bankers in the high-pressure world of finance.

Starring Marisa Abela, Myha'la, Kit Harington, Harry Lawtey, and Ken Leung, the series became a genuine word-of-mouth hit for HBO, increasing in ratings and critical acclaim over its first three seasons. Though it takes place in the world of finance, Industry is concerned as much with the personal lives of its characters as it is their professional lives, culminating in a barn-burner of a third season that earned 98% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Now, in a video posted to his Instagram story, creator Konrad Kay has revealed that Industry season 4 has wrapped filming. In the video, as the wrapping...

Industry Season 4 Is Already Tanking Before It Airs
Image
Back in 2020, at the height of the pandemic, a show with a relatively unknown cast and creatives premiered on HBO in the US and BBC in the UK. Five years later, Industry is close to being as mainstream as The White Lotus.

Set in the banking and investment world, it followed a group of twenty-somethings who had just left university with the promise of fortune in the finance industry.

Industry worked for many reasons. People familiar with the subject matter created the series, and although it used a lot of financial jargon, it was as easy to follow as it was to understand what everyone was saying.

( Simon Ridgway/HBO)

At the core were the youngsters who were hungry to make a mark in this industry. All gritty in their way, they were willing to fight tooth and nail to be noticed, and that gave birth to some interesting dynamics and storylines.

‘Severance’ leads Television Critics Association Awards nominations with 5
Image
Severance is very much in(nie) with the Television Critics Association. The Apple TV+ drama topped Wednesday’s 41st TCA Awards nominations with five bids.

Its nominations haul includes Program of the Year, drama series, and triple bids in Individual Achievement in Drama for Adam Scott, Britt Lower, and Tramell Tillman.

Four shows are tied with four nominations apiece: Adolescence, Hacks, The Pitt, and The Studio. All four plus Severance will compete in Program of the Year alongside Andor, The Rehearsal, and The White Lotus.

Last year, TCA dropped down to six slots per category after expanding to eight in 2021, but it has now reverted to eight. No reason was given for last year's or this year's change.

There was also unprecedented double-dipping last year by three shows — Baby Reindeer, Ripley, and Fargo — which were nominated in both drama and limited. There is no such case this year.

In drama series,...

Beat Announce Live Album, Unveil “Neal and Jack and Me”: Stream
Image
Beat, the supergroup celebrating ’80s King Crimson, have announced a new live album, Beat Live, out September 26th. The track “Neal and Jack and Me” can be streamed now.

The release captures Beat’s 2024 concert in Los Angeles — previously the focus of a livestream performance — along with additional recordings from the band’s massive North American tour last fall.

The outing saw classic King Crimson members Adrian Belew and Tony Levin teamed with guitar virtuoso Steve Vai and Tool drummer Danny Carey. Taking their name from the seminal 1982 King Crimson album, Beat revisited the progressive rock band’s output during that decade, specifically 1981’s Discipline, the aforementioned Beat, and 1983’s Three of a Perfect Pair.

Belew reflected in a press release: “You’re walking on stage with three virtuoso musicians, world class professionals who have seen it all but are still having fun playing this music which is timeless and...

Julianne Nicholson dances her way to the top of the Comedy Guest Actress Emmy predictions for ‘Hacks’
Image
Looks like Dance Mom will boogie all the way to the Emmy podium.

Julianne Nicholson, who played the joyous (and drug-addicted) character on Hacks Season 4, now leads the Best Comedy Guest Actress race, taking down longtime frontrunner Jamie Lee Curtis for The Bear, who won last year. Nicholson's Dance Mom, aka Mary Alice, was recruited by Paul W. Downs' Jimmy and Megan Stalter's Kayla to appear on Late Night With Deborah Vance as a way for the talk show-within-a-show to gain a younger audience. At first, Jean Smart's Deborah was hesitant to let the untested woman take the stage, until she realized it would annoy Hannah Einbinder's Ava, and then all bets were off.

There's a new Hacks tonight, but I have not yet recovered from Julianne Nicholson dancing to Katy Perry's "Lifetimes" as Dance Mom in last week's episode. pic.twitter.com/SH3OPittFI

Best Drama Directing Emmy predictions: Triple submissions and big names flood this category
Image
When the dust settled, there were 177 submissions in the Best Drama Directing category for the 2025 Emmys. Based on the TV Academy's calculus, there will be seven finalists when the nominations are announced July 15.

The vast uptick in submissions, when compared to the writing category, is due to the number of directors put up for each show. Front-runners like Severance, The Pitt, The Last of Us, and Paradise each went for for triple entries. Meanwhile, Andor, The Diplomat, and The Handmaid’s Tale each opted for a double-play. And because some shows had only one director behind the camera throughout the duration, such as The White Lotus and Squid Game, they were only allowed one episode for the category.

While a higher number of submissions per series may result in potential vote-splitting, we have seen time and time again that passionate voters will mark down a show on the ballot multiple times,...

The 2025 Emmys Writing Contenders — Severance & Andor Battle in Drama, Hacks versus the World in Comedy
Image
Perhaps the most difficult aspect of predicting the Emmys has long been the writing categories. Not only are they wildly variable, but they require impeccable strategy from the campaigns in question. Does the team behind a show know they can grab two nominations? Or are they trying to throw everything at the wall to see what sticks? Many shows have attempted to only run one episode, but what happens if you choose the wrong ones? Below, we try to make sense of the madness with the categories reaching the minimum submissions to keep a consistent nomination count.

The 2025 Emmys Writing Contenders – Comedy, Drama, Limited Series/TV Movie, and Variety

Just a quick reminder before we get into the discussion. Unlike other categories, where a performer chooses their “submission” episode after the nomination, the writing categories choose their submissions before nominations. The predictions we have below are based on the episodes...

Best Drama Writing Emmy predictions: ‘The Pitt’ takes a risk by submitting 3 episodes
Image
Ballots for the 2025 Emmys have officially been released and voting is currently underway in all categories. For Best Drama Series Writing, there are 132 submissions, which means there will be six finalists for the category when nominations are announced July 15.

When it comes to writing, there are two strategic approaches when it comes to seeking a slot: submit one showcase episode or flood the zone. This year, as is often the case, practically all of the frontrunners are opting for the former tactic. This includes the incumbent winner Will Smith for Slow Horses, who is the only nominee from last year eligible again. He could win his second consecutive Emmy for the Season 4 finale, a shattering, suspenseful episode surrounding River Cartwright (Jack Lowden).

But what may stop Slow Horses in its tracks would be Severance, with "Cold Harbor," the Season 2 finale scripted by creator Dan Erickson. It's just as devastating, with...

Emmy experts predict Drama Series race: ‘Severance’ out front, but watch out for ‘The Pitt’
Image
As Emmy voting begins, can Severance hold onto its momentum as the Best Drama Series frontrunner, or might another show steal its thunder? Four top Emmy experts — Variety's Clayton Davis, The Hollywood Reporter's Scott Feinberg, Indiewire's Marcus Jones, Deadline's Pete Hammond — predict the race with moderator and Gold Derby editor-in-chief Debra Birnbaum in our latest slugfest (watch above).

"We have to talk about Severance — that's Apple's main play," says Jones. The sci-fi series has been the category's de facto leader all season long. HBO and Max have an incredible amount of product this year, he says, including The Pitt, The White Lotus, The Last of Us, Industry, and House of the Dragon. He also declares Hulu's apocalyptic series Paradise to be "one of the big newcomers" of the year, with "an amazing performance from Sterling K. Brown."

The State of the Race

One of the reasons why “Matlock” star Kathy Bates seems to be in such a good position to win the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, besides having been recognized for her performance at several of the winter awards shows, with wins at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards, is that her show is only in its first season.

‘Industry’ Stars Myha’la and Marisa Abela Chart Season 3’s Guilt-Ridden Boat Ride: ‘That Anger Was All Really There’ | How I Did It
Image
One of the most shocking moments of “Industry” Season 3 was learning that Yasmin (Marisa Abela) abandoned her father at sea and that Harper (Myha’la) knew about it.

Flashes back to the fated boat ride were interspersed through much of the season, but the moment of Yas’s choice not to tell anyone when her dad drunkenly jumps off the boat as a joke hits hard. Harder still after previous scenes dove deeper into how bleak their father/daughter relationship had become. Abela said the emotions of the entire trip where still with Yas when she confided in Harper after.

“Yasmin did not want to be alone with this information and with this guilt,” Abela told TheWrap in a new installment of How I Did It, presented by HBO — part three for “Industry” after previous chats with Ken Leung and Harry Lawtey and Sagar Radia. “What was very useful is we...

Mickey Down & Konrad Kay Reveal The Tarantino-esque Series They Were Working On Before ‘Industry’ – SXSW London
Image
Industry creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay were once ex-finance people trying to make their way in the TV game and throwing ideas around.

At that point, they revealed today they were developing a Tarantino-esque series titled Highway for HBO-owned Cinemax about a Black female highway woman in Regency England, a “gothic idea” that had shades of the Pulp Fiction auteur’s work, for which they had written the first episode.

“We had lots of ideas and a lot of the plates fell and cracked and broke and we basically ended up with this one idea called Highway,” said Down.

Speaking at SXSW London, the pair said Industry producer Jane Tranter, who runs Bad Wolf, pitched both Highway and Industry to HBO and came back with a demand.

“She came back and said we had to make a decision about which one we wanted because we can’t do both,...

It Starts On The Page (Drama): Read ‘Industry’ Episode 304 Script “White Mischief” With Foreword By Mickey Down & Konrad Kay
Image
Editor’s note: Deadline’s It Starts on the Page (Drama) features 10 standout drama series scripts in 2025 Emmy contention.

HBO’s Industry, colloquially considered a cunning younger sibling of sorts to the network’s Emmy juggernaut Succession, began as a word-of-mouth underdog that is now poised to hit the Emmys as a hot prospect with its third season. The finance drama, created by lapsed investment bankers Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, details the vertiginous rise and dizzying crash of the high-stakes trading world of the prestigious firm Pierpoint and its power-hungry upstarts.

The crop of young bankers — Harper (Myha’la), Yasmin (Marisa Abela) and Rob (Harry Lawtey) — aren’t the only lot to have raised their capital: Season 3 has upped the ante not only in its world-building but also in its awards showing, garnering a Critics Choice nomination for Best Drama Series and a first major win with Abela clinching Leading...

Rose Leslie reveals the one Game of Thrones scene she'd like her kids to avoid
Image
The love story between Kit Harington and Rose Leslie is almost too perfect to be believed. They met while working on the second season of HBO's mega-hit Game of Thrones: he played the brooding Night's Watchmen Jon Snow, and she the fiery wildling warrior Ygritte. As Jon and Ygritte feel in love onscreen, so did Harington and Leslie offscreen. "It was in the winter, which meant we only had four hours of daylight to shoot," Leslie told Tatler. "So we’d wrap at 2 pm and then we’d have the rest of the afternoon and the evening. Because it was in the middle of nowhere, we were all sitting together in the same hotel, so you got to know everyone, there was a real camaraderie."

Ygritte died a couple seasons later, but by then the actors were already a couple. They married in 2018 at a castle owned by Rose...

‘Industry’ Stars Harry Lawtey and Ken Leung Unpack Viral ‘I’m a Man’ Pep Talk: ‘People Say This Back to Me Now’ | How I Did It
Image
Of all the moments from “Industry” Season 3 to go viral, it came as a shock to both Ken Leung and Harry Lawtey that their trading floor pep talk hit so strongly.

The moment comes after both characters have their own troubling nights. Eric (Leung) spends the evening on a bender and then hits the trade floor wired for a long day riding weird energy. Robert (Lawtey) suffers his own breakdown and visibly cracks at the start of the day. It’s after that where Eric pulls Robert aside and has him shouting the mantra “I’m a man and I’m relentless,” which then resonated with many viewers.

“I remember when we were shooting it it was too much,” Leung told TheWrap during a new installment of How I Did It, presented by HBO — our second for “Industry” after our chat with Sagar Radia. “Too much, too fast, too soon.

‘Industry’ Star Sagar Radia on Rishi’s Brutal Standalone Episode: ‘A Crazy Mindset to Be In’ | How I Did It
Image
The third season of “Industry” elevated the HBO drama series to new heights in creative ambition and audience awareness. A standalone episode focused on Rishi Ramdani, played by star Sagar Radia, is a prime example of the show’s evolution.

Episode 4, titled “White Mischief,” follows a day in the chaotic life of the Pierpoint associate — kicking off with the reveal that Rishi is deep in debt with loan sharks hot on his tail. The hour, written by series creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, shows how Rishi gambles and cheats his way out of the impossible situation as his personal life also begins to fall apart.

“It’s a crazy mindset to be in,” Sagar Radia told TheWrap in a new installment of How I Did It, presented by HBO. “The interesting thing about the gambling scenes was that it was my day one of shooting [this episode.] It was actually a really tough place to start.

‘Industry’ star Marisa Abela on her breakout Season 3: ‘It answers many questions about why Yasmin is the way she is’
Image
The acclaimed ensemble cast of HBO’s cult finance drama Industry got upgraded with Season 3 thanks to the additions of Emmy nominees Kit Harington and Sarah Goldberg in key roles. However, the show’s original cast continued to shine surprisingly and unexpectedly, including Season 3 breakout Marisa Abela.

The actress, who recently won Best Drama Actress at the BAFTA TV and Craft Awards for her performance, plays Yasmin Kara-Hanani on Industry, a nepo baby introduced in Season 1 as someone who used her privilege to move through life without consequences. However, in Season 3, the fallacy of that fortune is laid bare, and the character’s key relationships — including with her father, Charles (Adam Levy); her best friend, Harper (Myha’la); and the man she truly loves, Robert (Harry Lawtey) — are dissected across eight emotional episodes.

Ahead, Abela, who stole scenes in Steven Soderbergh’s recent thriller Black Bag opposite Oscar winner Cate Blanchett and Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender,...

Spain’s Big Shoot Scene Remains Resilient, Despite Global Headwinds
Image
In the week before Cannes, Spain’s production sector was still digesting the news of U.S. President

Donald Trump’s call for tariffs of 100% on movies made outside the U.S. “Tariffs will not resolve any of the necessities which the U.S. administration indicates as a justification,” the Spain Film Commission fired back in a statement May 5.

Following a 2020 global pandemic and 2023 Hollywood strikes, the tariff threat reps the third global curveball thrown at Spain’s production shoot business, which has grown dramatically over the last decade, but edged down in 2024. “International service work has slowed somewhat,” says Mike Day at Palma Pictures, the producer in Spain of “The Crown.”

“Spain’s [incentives and locations] remain competitive. The dip is more to do with the recent headwinds that the industry itself has been seeing,” Day adds. Recent years have seen an extraordinary surge of international productions hit Spain. If availability of...

BAFTA TV Awards Red Carpet Photos: Marisa Abela, Nicola Coughlan, Tramell Tillman & More In Attendance
Image
Hosted by The Traitors star Alan Cumming, who appeared on the BAFTA TV Awards red carpet on singer-songwriter Jessie J’s arm, the 2025 ceremony — which took place in sparkling spring sunshine on the banks of the River Thames at London’s Royal Festival Hall on Sunday — featured an array of television, film, musical and theatrical stars in attendance.

Notable guests (and winners) included Marisa Abela, who received Best Leading Actress for HBO/BBC series Industry, and Baby Reindeer star Jessica Gunning, who capped off a likely historic TV awards sweep as she clinched the Best Supporting Actress category.

While the prizes of the night were fairly evenly shared, ITV’s Mr Bates vs The Post Office swept the evening — an unsurprising feat given how it dominated U.K. ratings last year and fueled a national conversation about the gross miscarriage of justice in which hundreds of innocent British postmasters were convicted of theft,...

Mr Loverman, Shōgun, And Blue Lights Score At The BAFTA TV Awards 2025 — See The Full Winners’ List
Image
With awards season all but done and dusted, Oscars. Golden Globes, SAGs, and BAFTAs all having been dutifully doled out over the past few months, this evening saw the BAFTA TV Awards 2025 — hosted by Avengers: Doomsday's Alan Cumming and held at London's Royal Festival Hall — take centre stage for a night of red carpet walking and shiny statue giving. And during a telecast in which the two most nominated shows — Netflix stalker thriller Baby Reindeer and ITV drama Mr Bates Vs The Post Office — took home one award apiece, the likes of Mr Loverman, Shōgun, and Blue Lights all scored big wins in major categories.

On the night, Baby Reindeer's sole win saw Jessica Gunning's turn as Richard Gadd's crazed stalker Martha recognised in the Supporting Actress race, while Mr Bates Vs Post Office, which was elsewhere nominated in both Lead acting categories, took home the coveted accolade for Limited Drama.

BAFTA TV Awards Complete Winners: ‘Mr Bates Vs The Post Office’ & ‘Mr Loverman’ Win Big Prizes
Image
Mr Bates vs The Post Office and Mr Loverman were the big victors at the BAFTA TV Awards, meaning Baby Reindeer did not continue its dominant winning streak.

Hosted by The Traitors star Alan Cumming, the BAFTA ceremony took place in sparkling spring sunshine on the banks of the River Thames at London’s Royal Festival Hall on Sunday.

The prizes were fairly evenly shared, but perhaps unsurprisingly, it was a notable night for Mr Bates vs The Post Office, the ITV series that dominated the UK ratings last year and fuelled a national conversation about injustices faced by innocent British postmasters, who were convicted of theft, fraud, and false accounting.

The series won Best Limited Drama, beating Baby Reindeer, which has been a darling of the awards season after cleaning up at the Emmys and Golden Globes. Jessica Gunning did, however, take home the prize for Best Supporting Actress for Baby Reindeer,...

2025 BAFTA TV Awards: ‘Mr. Bates vs the Post Office’ and ‘Mr Loverman’ win big over ‘Baby Reindeer’ (full winners list)
Image
Mr Bates vs. the Post Office pulled off a victory over Netflix's Emmy-winning Baby Reindeer at the 2025 BAFTA TV Awards on Sunday. The ITV drama that dominated U.K. ratings last year tells the story of hundreds of innocent sub-postmasters and postmistresses who were wrongly accused of theft, fraud, and false accounting due to a defective It system.

However, it wasn't all bad news for Baby Reindeer. Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Award winner Jessica Gunning continued her impressive awards streak, scoring Best Supporting Actress, and bringing the limited series’ total to three wins, including writing and directing victories from the BAFTA TV Craft Awards on April 27.

Lennie James beat out the likes of Richard Gadd (Baby Reindeer) and Gary Oldman (Slow Horses) to win Best Actor for Mr Loverman, in which he plays an exuberant, closeted family man who wants to end his marriage and live with his best friend.

Breaking: ‘The Pitt’ star Noah Wyle takes the lead in latest Emmy odds for Best Actor
Image
The Emmy race for Best Drama Actor just received a shot of adrenaline.

For the first time since Gold Derby's 2025 Emmys predictions center opened in February, Noah Wyle is leading the odds in this topsy-turvy category. The Pitt star has overtaken Adam Scott (Severance), who has been in the No. 1 position since early March. Before that, Gary Oldman (Slow Horses) was the frontrunner.

Max's real-time hospital drama has been on a major upswing since its final episodes streamed in April. In one buzzed-about moment, Wyle's character, Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, had a mental breakdown after a concert shooting brought dozens of patients into his emergency room, including his quasi-stepson's new girlfriend. Wyle is a five-time Emmy nominee for ER (1995-99), but this would be his first win.

For Best Drama Series, The Pitt is now tied with The Last of Us in second place, both behind Severance. Taylor Dearden as...
