Low budget but one of the better low budget films in our opinion and we watch a lot of low budget films. It is choreographed pretty well, better than the movie"Battalion," and way better than "Viking Siege" & a whole lot better than "Killing of the sacred deer" was choreographed. A way better plot and acting than the other low budget movies I mentioned. We watch a lot of movies in general and it includes low budget as well as high budget movies. I review them for their acting, plot, how the lines were said with feeling behind them or where they like robotic with no acting when they said their lines. Did the lines sound natural or robotic to better explain it. This movie maybe low budget but doesn't sound like it is the acting is very good and not robotic like low budget movie "Killing of the sacred deer" was where they said their line but there was no feeling or real acting behind what they were saying so it wasn't natural looking what so ever. Low budget films can be just as good as the high budget films when reviewing them look at them for their acting, and plot mainly and if they were any good.
Where to start.
OK - so - I wasn't expecting too much of this film apart from being watchable - but it wasn't even that.
Just about every aspect of this is AWFUL! I appreciate there wasn't much of a budget, but that is no excuse for the lack of attention to detail or making good use of what you do have. The lighting was awful (which was obviously there because it seems the concept of diffusing light to create atmosphere had gone over the head of the production team) as was the rest of the technical side.
This film has the atmosphere of a bad 1980s VHS corporate training video.
Then there is the 'action'. Bad. It has more in common with watching kids in a play ground than a professionally choreographed stunt team and the camera angles certainly didn't help.
It is like NO thought has gone in to producing something that is actually watchable - let alone engaging for the viewer.
All in all one to watch unless you are in the mood for some seriously bad cheese.

The title "Babes with Blades" is obviously movie "clickbait", but I hoped for at least some fun, but cheesy action scenes and some strong, beautiful women wielding swords. There were women, though I'd only count one of them as beautiful (The striking Yennis Cheung). And only one or two more as attractive. The lead actress, Cecily Fay, had a few good moves, but nothing particularly interesting. The fact that she is apparently a fight coordinator and stunt actor is pretty surprising considering how uninspired and dull the fight scenes are. The script was worse than I expected, but again not surprising once I realized that the Fay wrote it as well as directed. All in all it seems like a vanity project that she somehow managed to rope other people into with promises of beer money I assume. Only giving it a "2" because the absolutely outrageous overacting of the character "Sef" had me rolling. Even watching it "free" on Amazon Prime I felt robbed. Do yourself a favor and stay far away.
It's a simple project with none since of telling a story! The acting is trouble the direction is awful the scenario is bad the costumes are bad
It shouldn't be a movie
My quick rating - 3,9/10. For a really hockey b-budget flick, this one does have its moments. Mainly Azura (Cecilia Fay) who does have some pretty good martial arts skills it seems. The fight scenes do tend to show off her talent, unfortunately the story itself, or the acting doesn't lend to much more. Instead this movie turns into a woman being taken prisoner in a post-apocalyptic future world by the evil, and horribly acted....well, he doesn't have a name. There imprisoned, she must fight to the death for a bunch of rich types in an arena, which resembles the warehouse where one of the film makers must work to earn his daily pay. Still, a very valiant attempt using some creative special effects that were 80s quality. Kudos for the effort, just take Fay, and give her a real script and you might have something.
