The Critics Choice Association has announced the winners for its seventh annual Critics Choice Real TV Awards, and it's great news for The Traitors.

Peacock's murder-mystery program walked off with a leading three awards: Best Competition Series, Best Ensemble Cast in an Unscripted Series, and Best Show Host for Alan Cumming. Note that these trophies come for Season 3, which is eligible at the upcoming 2025 Emmys. Last year, Season 2 of The Traitors won a pair of Emmys for series and host, and is the frontrunner to repeat.

The Critics Choice Real TV Awards recognize excellence in nonfiction, unscripted, and reality programming across broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms. Voting is conducted by a blue-ribbon nominating committee made up of Cca members with expertise in the genre. Meanwhile, there are two fan-voted categories: Male and Female Star of the Year, which were awarded respectively to Stephen Nedoroscik (Dancing With the Stars) and Sandra Lee (Dr.

Peacock’s The Traitors picked up a leading three wins at the Critics Choice Critics Choice Real TV Awards announced Thursday.

The series won for Best Competition Series, Best Ensemble Cast in an Unscripted Series and Best Show Host for Alan Cumming.

Two other shows picked up two wins each in voting by Critics Choice Association members. Netflix’s docuseries Love on the Spectrum won for Best Unstructured Reality Series and Best Relationship Show, while ABC’s Dancing With the Stars won for Best Competition Series: Talent/Variety and DWTS‘ contestant last season, Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik, was awarded Male Star of the Year.

Dr. Sandra Lee, from Lifetime’s Dr. Pimple Popper: Breaking Out, won the Female Star of the Year.

Both Star of the Year categories were voted on by fans.

The Traitors led the list of 2025 Critics Choice Real TV Awards nominees with six nominations and took home three wins. The series, which continues its run as a favorite among Critics Choice Association members, won in the Best Competition Series, Best Ensemble Cast in an Unscripted Series, and Best Show Host (Alan Cumming) categories.

Love on the Spectrum earned Best Unstructured Series and Best Relationship Show wins. And Dancing with the Stars also won in two categories, securing Best Competition Series: Talent/Variety and Male Star of the Year (Stephen Nedoroscik) wins.

I had just finished interviewing Ariana Grande on this year’s Oscars red carpet when someone from her team asked me, “Are you going to get away after all this, take a little vacation?”

"But at the time, my husband and I had just welcomed our first child, and she was just under a year old, and there was no world that I could imagine leaving and going off to shoot," he notes.

The Love Is Blind streamer has appointed Jenny Falkoff, fresh from the success of Beast Games, to its Jeff Gaspin-led unscripted team.

Falkoff is being tasked with helping Netflix find more large, “splashy” competition formats and “buzzy” social experiments. As Gaspin told Deadline last year, he is now focusing on “bigger formats, more of what you would call broadcast-style shows versus the cable style shows”. The upcoming comedy series “Strikes,” set in the world of cricket, has tapped the writing team of Josh Kirby and Jonathan Veles to pen the pilot, Variety has learned exclusively.

The series was first reported to be in the works back in February. As reported at the time, it is hails from co-creators Dana Abraham and “Queer Eye” star Bobby Berk. Both are also attached to star in the series along with Shaun Majumder and Nazanin Mandi.

The series is gearing up for production under Abraham’s Red Hill Creative banner, with plans to soon take it out to studios and buyers. Tony Williams joins Abraham as producer, while Berk, Jacob Silvera, Majumder and Danny Treibatch round out the executive producing team.

Hosted by Emmy winner Karamo Brown (Queer Eye), the conflict talk show addresses a wide range of topics, from infidelity and family complexities, to DNA surprises and parenting challenges. The show also features a popular segment called “Unlock The Phone,” where Karamo’s investigative team helps uncover the cell phone histories of guests’ partners, promoting full transparency.

“‘Karamo’ continues to connect with audiences,” Wilson said. “Karamo’s ability to bond with his guests and his unique storytelling style, combined with our talented production team, has solidified the show as a staple in daytime TV, consistently offering engaging and compelling content.”

David Eilenberg, the head of content for Roku, is exiting the streaming platform to become creative director at the production company ITV America, the studio behind shows like Love Island USA, Hell’s Kitchen and Queer Eye.

Eilenberg, who previously worked as the studio’s chief creative officer before jumping to Roku in 2022, will oversee the company’s full slate of unscripted programming.
