"Strange Events" sort of cash in on the success of "Stranger Things", not only by its title, but also by its title music which is very reminiscent of that TV series.
Regardless, I decided to watch "Strange Events", even though I had no idea what I was getting myself into, aside from it being a horror movie. Turned out that this was a horror anthology. Yeah, I know right, and I was going 'oh, this is going to be interesting', as I really like anthologies.
But the matter of the fact is that "Strange Events" wasn't particularly interesting or entertaining. In fact, I ended up turning it off after 46 minutes of enduing a less than mediocre foray into various aspects of horror. Now, it should be said that some of the segments that I managed to sit through were interesting and definitely had potential, but others were downright abysmal and so boring you want to claw out your eyes.
I gave up after 46 minutes of being relatively bored. So I just opted to toss in the towel and not finish the rest of the movie, especially because I felt my eyelids growing more and more heavy with each passing segment.
Some of the segments actually had fairly adequate acting performances, and it was also nice to see unfamiliar faces on the screen - which is something that I definitely enjoy. But it wasn't enough to lift up this sinking movie experience.
If you enjoy horror anthologies, then your money, time and effort is better spent elsewhere.

Some of the ideas were pretty good, like actually made you go 'huh.'
Mostly the stories were rushed or meh. A lot of them made no sense at all either in how the characters got there or just 'why' in general. I get the short story idea but if you have absolutely no setup then it's hard to watch some event happen and understand it at all.
Put it on while you do other stuff. It's okay to glance at but dont expect a whole lot.

But, like shot on a phone, by your friends.
But by your talented and smart friends, who really show promise as filmmakers.
I really enjoyed it, I gave it a 7.
I liked the stories it tells, I enjoy indie horrors because they're fun, often innovative either out of creativity or necessity.
The production values acting and writing?
I told you I liked it, because I did.
For the production values think small town cable commercial, or forklift training video maybe? I can't say they're bad, these people aren't incompetent. But with this budget.
The acting isn't horrible, everyone played their parts, no one was reading off a card or stammering their way through.
I think the writing was pretty good.
It's very indie, very low budget, not "amateurish" and not incompetent. But if that's not your thing you probably shouldn't watch it. But hey, it's on prime, give it a look you can always quit.
This is one of those films where, after watching it I thought. I'd really like to see these guys get to make something with a real budget.

Several short movies presented as strange events in an original way..some stories are good and some are not so good but can be interesting
If you've seen the movie VHS and enjoyed it there is a chance you'll like this. This film sort of reminds me of YouTube horror shorts, some are good some are not. Essentially there are a few short weird and inexplicable things happening to people in different places and different dates. For this to be on such a low budget and with mediocre acting some of the creepy parts are done rather well, I give credit to the director because the camera angles upped the scares. I liked that each story was short and to the point so whether you enjoyed it or not there wasn't much time spent on it. I do believe this is worth a watch and because I was perturbed and it kept my interest In going to give it a solid 6.
