Darkness in Tenement 45

It's amazing how current this film is despite being shot in 2017! The art direction on the set build of the tenement looks amazing, and it's overall impressive what was able to be accomplished on a low budget. The acting was great and the editing & score elevated the tension throughout! RECOMMEND!

When i say that this film has been made to comemorate all the poors souls around the world that have perished the last 8 months caused by the neo coronavirus 2019 that came over us like a tsunamiwave of biological warfare from nature itself.

its a film about selfimposed quarateening and isolation after a attack with biological weapons, a couple of families in a block appartment somewhere new york, that tries to live the new normal at decreasing stocks of food and human energy. and at the end somebody has to take the walk outside to find food for the kohorts survival.

its a slow and isolationalistic try to make a break on a red hot subject, its merely homemade by smell and story, and budgetwise its no more than the cost of production equipment and the power bill, which'll be low considering the dim production lightsettings.

its fun to make films, we can all agree to that, but as good saturday evening entertainment it isnt. a no recommend from the grumpy old man

Darkness in Tenement 45 is set in the early 1950s cold war era. It is a little slow but well worth staying for because it's a good story put together really well. There is fear and tension brought on by the situation of trying to survive quarantine and each other.

It kept me engaged all the way through, I would recommend this movie. 9/10

What this film lacks in budget, it makes up for in story and style. Honestly, this movie is everything I want and expect in an indie horror film. It's unique, dramatic, engaging, and shockingly relatable despite its mid-century cold war setting. The performances from the two lead actresses were especially strong, and the combination of original scoring and period music set the tone brilliantly.

A film that requires a large amount of suspension of disbelief. The end was predictable - not too much of a problem for me, since the journey was an interesting one. It's a simple story and so much more could have been done with the characters, especially with regard to dialogue and conflict. I saw a lot of unfulfilled potential. Overall this is my kind of film, and in an objective sense, it is very well done for its budget. It produces emotion in its audience (for me, primarily the urge to blow Martha's face off) and that's always good. But as a study into human behaviour, it lacks any psychological accuracy or point - there was no real insight or meaning. My problem with the end wasn't that it was predictable, it was that they had to make it depressing as well. Still, 6/10.
