Srushti Dange and Vidya Pradeep in Achamindri (2016)

The film begins with an honest education department official (Thalaivasal Vijay) dying in a bomb blast. Then, we are introduced to Sakthi (Vijay Vasanth), a pickpocket, who is attracted towards Malarvizhi (Srushti Dange), a middle-class girl. There is also Sathya (Samuthirakani), a straightforward cop, who is about to get married to his childhood sweetheart Shruti (Vidya Pradeep). Their lives turn topsy-turvy on the same day - Sakthi is chased by goons for picking the pocket of a gangster; Malar is threatened by the education minister's PA (Jayakumar) for filing for re-evaluation on behalf of her maid's daughter; and Sathya is attacked by his own friend and cop Saravanan (Bharat Reddy) as he starts digging into the death of Shruti.

A good subject wasted by the lackluster direction

A social relevant drama featuring Vishnu Vasanth, Samuthirakkani, Sharanya, Shrushti Dange, Radha Ravi, Rohini and many more artists. The movie was quite okay till the interval and post-interval, but suddenly started to lose steam towards the climax. The flaws in the script and the climax portions were really boring since it appeared like a boring lecture. Vishnu Vasanth did a fair job as the petty thief Shakthi where Shrushti Dange's Malarvizhi plays his love interest. She was also quite suitable for the role. Radha Ravi and Samuthirakkani's role were pretty good and his emotions were up to the par (i didn't like his role in Appa, because of his over-emoting role). Sharanya's role were pretty much powerful and it was a surprise for me, and it was a transformation from her lovable Amma characters in most of her movies. Premgi Amaran's songs were average but the background score was okayish. The direction was the major setback in this movie. They handled a good subject and the execution was below par making this movie a just average one. My rating 5.2 on 10
