Touching, Well Acted Romance

One Hour Behind is a fun film that is well acted, particularly by Barry Watson. Its premise is cute and its script a bit more literate than the Lifetime movies it seems inspired by. Obviously filmed on a budget, nonetheless it is well shot with some moving surprises. We enjoyed it, so will you.

Rom-Com

The ingredients required for a rom-com. The leads must be likeable, they must seem realistic, there needs to be a strong supporting cast. This movie just works, the lady in the coffee shop works, the guy in the fire station works, I just found the whole thing delightful. A little humour, pastel colours and a nice backing score. Sure, this isn't going to win any literary prizes, but it shows that you can make a feel-good movie without countless sex, swearing and violence. If you just want a nice rom-com, you could do a heck of a lot worse than watch this. My quote of the movie "Actually, we find the time for things that are important" So true, find some time for this........

Cute - but way too much jumping to conclusions

I liked this film. Barry Watson didn't look the usual Hallmark love interest type but his acting was top notch and the hour time change concept worked well. Emily Rose was good too, but the script having her jump to the wrong conclusions about Barry Watson was overdone . Overall the film was a good watch and a bit different from most Hallmark films. The chemistry was also good between the leads - so be good to see a sequel .

capcakes. and Barry Watson

Barry Watson was the motif, in my case, to see this film. And it remains the basic motif for appreciate this story about spring and fall hour, the guy with green shirt and capcakes contest. Because it is exactly what you expect and the young look of Watson just works more than well in a forced, in good measure, story about a confusion and its good result.

The sentimental piece works, to, and Emily Rose offers a nice work in the effort to give some credibility to a little bizarre character.

In short, a decent romance, with baker and paramedic , with not very realistic bussiness woman and a widower front to second chance to love.

Fair story

The daylight savings time change angle isn't a heavily used trope, but the win-a-contest-to-help-my-business trope is way overused. The plot really is kind of thin.

Adam is such a jerk it's amazing that Trish gives him 5 minutes much less multiple dates. I can't say that what Trish and Parker had anything special, especially as they both kept hiding their backgrounds from each other.

That was really good!

I was browsing my cable-channels when I saw this movie starting, and it kept my attention right away from first second. That's something really rare with the movies nowadays, so I knew this is a good sign.

I kept watching and been involved so deep in the story that I started to care about almost all of the characters! That's something really, really rare about the movies nowadays.

The acting was very good, from all of the actors. I didn't noticed any overplaying, it looked like a real life footage all the way. You could literally feel the romance between the leading two, and also their disappointments. Brilliantly acted, I really enjoyed it!

Good camera work also, and the script was very well written and unpredictable. That's also a big plus, for any film production. If your story is predictable - you better don't waste money filming it. IMO.

My rating: High 9/10.

A Hallmark Movie That Didn't Feel Like a Hallmark Movie

I picked this to watch by the title,' An Hour Behind'. I thought maybe it had some time travel aspect to it, but sadly that was not the case. What I got was a romance movie that didn't feel like it was a carbon copy of what came before as so many Hallmark movies tend to be.I actually had to look up who produced the movie, and yes it is Hallmark, and it is predictable, but there was something special about this one. Worth a watch if you are looking for some love story.

Soo stiff and sad!

I don't know what was it - the cheap interiors, the polyester clothes, the wedding-level hairsprayed hairdos and makeup, the tone of voice of the female lead, the lenses the used to shoot, the sad town it was shot at, overdone eyelashes of the female lead that made her squint in a strange way, ... Or maybe everything at the same time? And why they were dressed so strangely??? So out of style and fashion?

Not terrible.

Great supporting cast.

The male characters were refreshingly nice and non-toxic.

I also liked that the story spreads across a few months.

But it was just so sad and energy-draining.

Better than average for this type of movie, but...

This movie avoided most of the tropes about someone's parents dying (though they did sneak in the old spouse dying), one of them returning to their hometown only to fall in love with an old flame, etc. Him being a secret Prince or a billionaire, her being a secret princess, one of them inheriting something significant etc.

I thought the male lead was good, and the female lead was below average, and somewhat flat and even unlikable at times. Her sister I liked a little more and wish that they swapped roles TBH. But she was stuck raising some man child, cupcake-binging husband to raise along with their kids. (Why do they do this? Are there really so many lovely, smart women who marry overweight schlubs who never grew up and are mentally 12 years old?)

I had some problems with the writing - like the female lead not liking a date because he took her to a place that had bad lasagna, but all in all it was better than average, and it passed the time during my treadmill workout pretty easily.

Adam was perfect for her TBH. All she focused on was her bakery and cupcakes. She didn't even interact with her sister's kid and only came over to whine about things to their mother. She was pretty self-obsessed herself, just like Adam.

Can't any of these movies have the leads be adults when a misunderstanding arises? Just ask questions instead of running off and vowing to never speak to the person again.

Man, after all that, why did I give it 7 stars?

I think the main reason I bumped it up a couple of stars even with the flaws was because of the firemen scenes. Having worked in a similar environment I can tell you they got that part right, right down to doing pushups off the back bumper when bored. The actors all played their roles excellently, looked and behaved accurately. It made me miss the old days TBH.

Made me mad

This main character female was horrible and made me mad. She jumped to conclusions all the time. Was mean and just upsetting. The main guy was good. Liked him. He could better than her. Wished he ended with someone else.

She was flat actor and didn't work that well.

No chemistry between them.

Heard the name Adam over and over again. They could have called this movie Adam. It was repeated so many times. She was suppose to be super busy and couldn't do anything but bake. Please.

And she can't tell time. Somehow daylight saving is a struggle for her. Things always happen at that time. Maybe daylight saving Will give me my 2 hrs back.

Chop chop!

Cute movie, easy to watch when you're sick. Found a little editing slip, towards the end the girls are talking while Chloe chops vegetables. She appears to be chopping celery or cucumbers or something, and the camera goes to Trish, and when it comes back she has a few little bits of herbs on the cutting board. Always fun to catch these things!

a film that softens :-)

Emily Rose a pastry shop, her sister arranges for him a meeting with a lawyer. Too bad she doesn't wake up due to two factors. You accidentally know Parker. A sympathy arises, but when she discovers that she wasn't the lawyer she was supposed to know, she is angry because Parker didn't tell the truth right away. To be seen as examples of strong bonds between the two sisters and much more.

A Mediocre Re-make

I began watching this with the best of intentions. I knew of course that it would likely turn out much like most schmaltzy Hallmark movies, but it started out fairly well. After the first 10 minutes or so however, it dawned on me that the plotline was eerily familiar.

Then it occurred to me that this flick was a cheezy remake of a British film, released two years prior, called "Man Up", starring Simon Pegg and Ophelia Lovibond. Naturally, the details vary, but the essential story lines - a botched blind date which, despite all odds, flourishes into true love - were nearly identical. And like most remakes, this one falls far short of the original. Trust me....

great chemistry but not much else

Romantically-challenged Trish Harper (Emily Rose) runs a cupcake store. She's working on a competition for the money to start a second store. Her sister sets her up on a blind date with Adam. She accidentally breaks her phone and she shows up late to the date due to Daylight Savings. She sits down with Parker (Barry Watson) assuming that he's her blind date.

Rose and Watson have a great combative chemistry together. The movie needs an upgrade with Adam. It needs a better story to create real tension. A better Adam would make it a higher hurdle for this romance. As it stands, this has an appealing couple but not much else.

New drinking game

Every time she says "Adam" - take a drink. You'll be totally drunk by the end of the movie. Cute movie - but this became really annoying...

Emily Rose is flat. She needs acting classes - or find a new career.. Barry Watson does a good job.

The chemistry between the entire cast is amazing!

This is a romance movie, as usual, but the ty is palpable between all the main cast. It feels like everyone was fast friends and it showed on the screen. The sisters were believable, the co-workers made me wish I could work there too, and the chemistry between the guys at the firehouse was completely believable with the rogue serial dater, the jiminy cricket with a sense of a conscious, and the guy blindsided with a chance at love. It was very refreshing to see normal people in normal situations and a typical day turn magic by the personality of the 2 characters. This is one of the best movies because they both pursue each other, but it is sad that they made the woman jump to conclusions without giving him a chance to open up. It did show how we sabotage ourselves when we don't listen to others and give chances to explain. Trish kept enjoying Parker's companionship, but was afraid of opening up. So she chose a guy from the start who dismissed her, that way she would keep the relationship platonic and not lose sight of her goals. But Trish felt worse with each date with Adam because he had no interest in her, he just wanted a captive audience. Parker listened to her. Rooting for all the Parker's in the world. Hand the Adam's a mirror and forget them. They will entertain themselves for hours.

Cute, but weird filter on close up shots?

The film itself is your typical Hallmark romantic dramedy. It's predictable but cute. I liked how they paced the budding romance between the two main characters. Some movies rush it, but it didn't feel rushed in this one. There are definitely cheesy, "really?" moments, but overall it's a decent film.

One thing that did irk me was that there seemed to be a filter used on close up shots, specifically with the main female character. I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this in the reviews so far. I first noticed it in the cupcake lounge at the beginning of the film and thought maybe it was just the lighting (it still may be) but I couldn't help but notice a subtle blurry look to her face when there were super close ups. It happened so often that it got annoying. I don't know if it was bad focusing with the camera work, bad lighting, or bad filtering in the editing room, but something was off.

Still, not a bad movie if you're into cheesy Hallmark chick flicks.

Additional note: another reviewer complained that the cupcake bakery was not believable. (S)he also said that the competition wasn't believable (which, I'll give them that), but cupcake bakeries are very popular and very realistic. I've personally seen at least 3 cupcake bakeries in my surrounding area. I'm also a baker and have many requests for cupcakes (they've become popular at big parties and weddings, too). While the cupcake competition may not be plausible, running a cupcake place definitely is.

Ok, that is all.

Nice clean movie with a happy ending.

Enjoyed watching this movie. No foul language or immorality. I thought the actors were good and believable, especially Barry Watson, who was great. It was a unique storyline with a happy ending, which some may call predictable, but I call it just nice.

It's like something you would see on the Hallmark Channel.

The script and dialog are bland, boring, unbelievable and predictable. The characters are robotic. I couldn't manage to buy in to the movie to enjoy it.
