This movie got off to a very good start and then about 45 minutes in the dialogue became stilted, the acting stiff, the plot repetitive, and the scenarios contrived.

To my mind Gerald Bultler sabotaged his own movie by being desperate to engrandize his role without sufficient substance and have the last word.

The female cop played by Alexis Louder did a fine job but you "can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear".

Overall this is 5 outta 10 at best, meaning watch it on TV if you are minded.

This is a fun action movie not a serious crime-drama or thriller...it doesn't take itself too seriously and the cast has fun with the material. Speaking of cast, it has a great one, the writing is good, the actors have fun with it and direction is very solid and ,dare I say it, "cool". It's got that stylized look in the mould of John Wick and is just as enjoyable flick if the watcher will stop being so critical for 2 hours. Not everything has to be high-brow artistic perfection. Like Wick, this is far-fetched, its low-brow and I loved it.

I see what they were going for here. I don't think they succeeded. If they had, this would have been my kind of movie. But something always feels off or unnatural.

For me, the movie maxes out at "pretty good," goes as low as "kind of stupid," with the bulk of the movie being mediocre. Overall, it's fine. (1 viewing, 1/30/2022)

Grillo with a man bun like Tom Cruise in Last Samurai which nobody saw was epic.

The movie tried hard to be like Assault on Precinct 13 but the lack of atmosphere, tension n suspense prevented it.

In fact the low budget VFW starring Stephen Lang is a decent take on defending the 'Alamo'.

Copshop was a surprisingly good action film from start to finish. Director Joe Carnahan know's how to craft a good action movie and does so very well here. Alexis Louder really shines as the standout here and is fun to watch in every scene. Frank Grillo and Gerard Butler are also really good here. In fact this may be some of Gerard Butler's best work in a while. The story is pretty easy to follow here and won't win any awards for best screenplay. Still the action and the dialogue are very entertaining. The movie also flys by fast with a very nice runtime. I really enjoyed Copshop and I know action fans will enjoy it as well. Copshop gets a solid 7 stars out of 10 from me.
