The Most Dangerous Year

I learned so much about the lives of transgender children watching this movie. The stories of the families lives are carefully woven with many insights into the politics and biology of being transgender. I was deeply touched by the struggles these families are up against.

This doc takes a look at the lives of trans activists, trans kids and their families who go public with their personal stories to advocate against the implementation of several 2016 WA state bills and initiatives that would roll back protections for trans people. A personal, moving, empathy-building piece from filmmaker Vlada Knowlton--herself the mother of a trans child. This film is a must-see for anyone who works with kids and/or cares about preserving basic civil rights for all people.

Why support this National Delusion?? If they get you to believe that boys are girls and girls are boys, they will get you to believe anything! Sometimes I wonder if this nation is under the influence of some wide spread drug or hoax. Are people that weak in this country that they can't think for themselves.

The fact is, no one cares if you think your not the gender you actually are. Just don't try to force others to believe your mental illness. The idea of "Self identification" is idiotic beyond the slightest measure. There are 8+ Billion people on this earth. How many men gave birth? Answer: NONE!

There is an old saying that goes something like this: "You can fix ignorance. You can't fix Stupid!

Everyone should see "The Most Dangerous Year," a documentary about children who identify as transgender and the issues they and their families must deal with. It's the civil rights issue of our time. I appreciate that the documentary takes a thoughtful and truthful approach, and doesn't vilify anyone.

After having lost a Supreme Court case arguing against same sex marriage in 2015, conservatives & evangelicals in 2016 turned their attention toward transgender restroom/bathroom & other self-identifying rights that had been legal for over a decade in Washington State. Joining other states e.g. Missouri, S. Dakota, Michigan, Illinois, N. Carolina in questioning why transgender identifying people should be allowed their preferred choice. Trans peoples, already possessing extremely high suicide rates largely due to harassment & lack of support, were now facing organized fear & hate based political assaults. Although there were no documented cases in a decade of sexual predation by a trans person in women's bathrooms that scenario was presented as the cause célèbre in a manner similar to fears presented in the '50s to justify segregation of blacks.

The facts: Brains develop differently through either genetic differences w/added variations of single x, y, as well as xxx, xxxy, xyy, xxy sex chromosomes or through how a brain functions spanning a varying continuum of female to male. Additionally, we all use self-identification in making gender choices.

Addendum: The DVD doc "The Gospel of Eureka Springs, AR showcases a tolerant city ordinance, #2223, in 2015 which passed w/these words: "seeks to protect and safeguard the right and opportunity of all persons to be free from unfair discrimination based on real or perceived race, ethnicity, national origin, age, gender, gender identity, gender expression, familial status, marital status, socioeconomic background, religion, sexual orientation, disability and veteran status."
