Wir sind die Croods

Took a few episodes to grow on me but, their use of plays on various movies, the evolution of the caveman intellect and creativity, development of modern arts, technologies and cuisine is very entertaining and quite well done.

We watch this show religiously. My brother has Down Syndrome and this is, by far, his favorite thing to watch. I've seen every episode, heard every line, but it never gets old. It's a cute and funny show, with jokes for the older audiences too! There's not a bad thing I could say, besides that I wish they had more seasons.

This show is a prequel to the original Croods film, focusing on the lives of the characters prior to their valley being empty. It being a prequel means it can get away with introducing new characters and fleshing out the valley from the beginning of the film, although i'm not sure if i'd say it succeeds. The new characters are pretty hit or miss, and I think there's a major issue where the same character can be written so differently depending on the episode, likely due to different writers. Grug is pretty consistently great the whole time, and any episode focusing on him tends to be pretty entertaining. Eep starts off as the secondary protagonist but by the end she's usurped by Thunk.

The series is semi-serialized. Most episodes are just episodic shenanigans but there's constant references to prior episodes and most seasons tend to end with permanent status quo changes that stick until the end. Unfortunately, the show heavily struggles with keeping continuity with its source material, the original film. There are so many contradictions that are very distracting.

Overall, I think its a fun time although most episodes besides the season premieres and finales can be skipped.

Lazy, stupid, uninspired, these are a few things to describe "Dawn of the Croods". Based off of a decent 3D animated cartoon, 'The Croods', the television excursion of the franchise offers none of the heart, soul or even animation from it's predecessor.

The art is passable, but bland and unimaginative.

This looked like it was made by a 1st grader. It's not worth a Netflix membership to watch this, no offense to the 1st grader who made this.

Last Words: They need to stop adapting tv shows from movies and old classics.
