The game is overall pretty good, though does have some technical problems I give it a 7.1/10.
I just made this account to comment that this game is very great and simple/easy to follow along with. Has an interesting lore like many games out there and a superb soundtrack. This game is very fun especially on multiplayer but single-player is also very fun that is when you have stuff to do by yourself. It may be a little difficult and buggy but I spent hours playing this simple video game. So 10/10.
Listening to the soundtrack for this game is also very nostalgic!

There will be plenty of people who will say there is nothing to do or that the game is grindy. But us, people giving it high ratings stops only what we can imagine. I have met all types of people while playing on official PVE. There were those that did nothing but the breeding. There were those building amazingly beautiful castles and houses. there were also those who made huge tribes creating laggy bases, and also holidays when they stopped playing because by the time their bases expired, there were a dozen of players getting ready to claim their dinos.
I have always played alone. And I did a little of everything. I built interesting bases or monuments. I explored every single cave. I also made ours to dangerous places for new people. I traded and slowly progressed through the game. Then my favorite game was released--Scorched Earth. I am not sure what was so captivating for me living in a hot desert world. But almost everything in that DLC will forever be my most memorable experience.
The game is good alone and with friends (progression is definitely easier with others though). This game with all its problems and bad optimization is rated high by the people make their own story. We don't need a story to play, we just need to be able to make our own. That is something I dislike The Last of Us 2 because that game was a crime against choice and creativity.
I recommend ark for people who are interested in sandbox games and huge world with many ways to travel and build.
Raking 2000k hours I still haven't finished 30% of all I planned.
If you are looking for an active community that went on without wipes for years, I recommend Arkade. They have all maps and PVE+PVP worlds. Modded and slightly boosted rates will serve well casual players without lots of hours for gaming.
I could go on for hours. I began playing it in Early Access in Aug of 2015. Many bugs, constant updates, and an oftentimes glitchy experience but a persistent open world environment and interactions with hundreds, thousands of people in the nearly four years since then has made it a love/hate relationship. I have somewhere around 12K hours. I have seen all of the developmental hell this game went through, from barely scraping by and the devs working 12-16 hours a day, six and seven days a week for little to no pay as an indie game that a little too closely resembled another, ill fated game that one of the leads dumped to create this one, to the eventual sellout to a massive unfeeling, unthinking corporation that immediately tried to make Dark and Light, a blatant ripoff of Ark, which was a ripoff of The Stomping Lands. I have watched it all, from the Flier Nerf that caused tens of thousands of players to quit in the span of a few days, to the joy and awe of the Center map being released on official servers as the first expansion in mid 2016. I saw the rage of gamers, angry at a ten dollar fee for downloading the Scorched Earth map, after they had paid twenty dollars in Early Access for the game, that's right, and gotten two whole maps with the addition of The Center, which was a free map.
This game hooks you, because you play at first to learn, and experience the wonders. Then, as you get better, and you build bigger, and collect more virtual pets to eat your neighbors with to protect your belongings, you become more invested. You fight, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes you find yourself handcuffed to a toilet when you log in, making you someone else's personal fertilizer factory for their crops. And sometimes you login only to find everything you own gone, and nothing but red in your log. Because the game never pauses, while you sleep, people are still playing. And they might decide your stuff looks tasty. So you start over. There is no winning, no end to the game. And if you let it, it will run your life. As you can tell, mixed review for a great concept, but it is definitely a game worth putting a couple of hundred hours into for the experience. And the original 20$ I spent was well worth it.

I've been a big fan of prehistoric animals like dinosaurs ever since I was a kid. Just the idea of being stranded on an island filled with such wildlife and having to survive was a dream come true for me.
The game requires a lot of patience and dedication to enjoy. You'll spend lots of time hunting, foraging, collecting resources, and building structures to level up, but it's worth it if you're determined.
There are almost 200 different species present in the game, like dinosaurs, mammals, birds, fish and others. They all possess their own unique abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. You can hunt them for food and resources or tame and use them for combat, labor, or to travel across the map via land, air, and sea. The sheer variety of animals and equipment gives you access to so many awesome combinations.
The graphics and visuals are all great, especially the vast environments of the island that are as well designed as the animals. There's plenty of beautiful and rich biomes like grasslands, jungles, mountains, and deserts. Weather effects, like water ripples, dust clouds, snow and rainfall help make the areas you explore seem even more lifelike. With DLCs included, there are 9 additional maps for you to experience if you want to expand your adventure and encounter more mythical creatures, like dragons.
The game runs much more smoothly while playing online multiplayer on the PC as you cooperate and battle with other players. The game is much easier and more fun if you join a tribe instead of going lone wolf.
I greatly enjoyed this game and it's still fun today.
