Their voices are low, have many jumpscares but none of them were effective. No story at all, non-sense.
Oh...my...god. How could this piece of garbage get green lighted? How could someone actually pay someone to direct and act in this miserable waste of a film? Were the actors blackmailed into it? Were their families threatened if they didn't do the movie? All these questions and more will be answered in the next exciting episode of WHY DID I RENT THIS WRETCHED PIECE OF (CENSORED!!) I mean, wow. It was so slow and boring. I really watched the whole movie, hoping something would happen. At the end, it was so freaking confusing. The special effects were hopelessly terrible and the acting sucked. I don't want to be a hater, but this film was especially horrible. AVOID this movie, people. Save your money and time. You won't get either back. Peace.
This movie was hard to follow and that was made even worse by how softly the actors spoke. Even with the volume turned up higher than normal, their voices were so low and the background noise in the movie (not the theater, in the movie itself), was so loud that I missed at least half of the dialogue. I have a feeling I didn't miss much but I still would rather have heard it than not.
I was initially lured in to watch the 2018 horror movie "Behind the Walls" because of the interesting cover the movie had, but also because it was a horror movie that I hadn't already seen.
And now that I have seen "Behind the Walls", I must admit that I am sitting here with a sensation of 'what the H... did I just watch?'. This movie, from writers and directors James Kondelik and Jon Kondelik, set out to want to do a lot of things all at once, but ending up delivering not even on a third of those things. You are let with a whole lot of unanswered questions at the end of the movie, and trust me, you'll be wondering what this was all about.
It felt like directors James Kondelik and Jon Kondelik wanted to cram as much shocks and jump scares into the movie as they possibly could, as well as putting as much strangeness into the movie as they possibly could. And believe me, there was a lot of horror elements going on. But it was just too much, and it was all the time. And 99% of the things you get to watch are never brought to fruition, there are no end or satisfying meaning to what you just witness on the screen. So you are left with a lot of unfulfilled things throughout the course of the movie.
The storyline in "Behind the Walls" also feels behind the walls, because there was no head or tails to it, no proper red thread through it all, and it just felt like it was a collection of small scenes and fragments of film captured by directors James Kondelik and Jon Kondelik and then edited together to make a movie.
The acting in the movie was adequate, although you never really get to form any relations to the characters, as everything was just done rushed or halfheartedly. Again, the writers and directors set out to want too much and delivered too little.
Visually, then "Behind the Walls" was definitely interesting and nice. There was a lot of interesting things throughout the course of the movie, and the special effects were good. Just a shame that the storyline was such a heap of scrambled rubbish.
My rating of "Behind the Walls" settles on a four out of ten stars, based mostly upon the visuals and the bombardment of horror elements. If you are looking for a movie with a plausible and coherent storyline, then "Behind the Walls" is not the best choice.
