A Fascinating examination of Four Young Men with Asperger's

Asperger's Are Us was warmly received in its world premiere at Austin's SXSW Film Festival. It is a beautiful little film about what it is like to enter adulthood still dealing with Asperger's. We often hear about children and rarely hear about happens to those kids as they enter adulthood. This shows these young still struggling, but basically making it. Their effort to perform comedy – a difficult skill for Aspies – is inspiring. While their comedy is not all that funny in many ways, their efforts to work together and achieve something creative are powerful. For those of us who don't have a lot of experience with Aspies it is a great way to learn about their struggles. The filmmakers captured a lot of their intimate interactions as they rehearsed together. I appreciated their bravery in sharing their story with the world. The film is well-made and well-edited.

    Well done documentary

As an autistic person myself, I was thrilled to watch a documentary that's not about being autistic, but still getting some important messages out there through tiny pieces of information and by fearlessly showing struggles that seem incomprehensible to a neurotypical person. We can be creative, smart, funny, interesting people and that deserves screentime for sure. There's not enough content like this focusing on adulthood for people on the spectrum.

    An amazing documentary!

Informative and touching. Asperger's Are Us hits the mark right on the nose.

Very uncompromising in approach, I can sense the realness to it, as it was very raw and very unpolished.

Four young men with Asperger's become friends and start a comedy troupe . The movie takes place as the troop prepares for it's last show.

I feel like I got to learn a lot about autism from a group of people who actually have and can explain it, which is a better way to learn.

But most importantly, I got to know these four dudes on a personal level. One of my favorite parts of the film was when one of the subjects, New Micheal, compared them to the Beatles where as Noah, who is a little older and more Experience dealing with the world around him seems like the John of the group, New Micheal, who I respect for being so open with his insecurities, wants everyone to known he's the Paul of the group. It was a great leg to start the movie off in explaining the interaction between these two.

The documentary is amazing in the fact that it does nothing to make these guys better than they already are. It was important to see them living normal lives like normal human beings to completely understand what it's like to have Asperger's.

    Very well done.

    World's Worst Documentary

This was terrible! And it had nothing to do with them having Asperger's. It reminded of listening to middle-schoolers attempt to funny by just being gross and stay the most stupid thing they could think of.

It wasn't inspirational and wasn't even remotely funny. Parts of it were actually just sad as you hear about how one of their dads was too busy and they were too poor for him to even pay attention to his son.

I mean, this documentary did nothing more than make me irritated that I even wasted time to watch it. It was TERRIBLE and can't believe NETFLIX would have even put this trash on their lineup.

Just because they have Aspergers does not make this worthy of airing. Especially since nothing about it felt inspirational. And everything about It irritated me and was truly terrible! Not even sure how any television network picked this up, let alone Netflix.

And I love shows about people on the spectrum, with Down syndrome, or any other learning or social challenges. But this made me just want to turn it off because it as so poorly made and nothing about it was entertaining or even informational. I truly felt it was an absolute waste of my time. I regret watching any of it, let alone all of it, Guess I kept hoping something of redeeming value was going to come out if it... but nope! Total waste!
