Firestorm

Frazer Brown, a voice actor known in Firestorm, has become the center of a major controversy within the comics community. In 2020, Brown launched a Kickstarter campaign for a charity comic anthology titled Tales from the Quarantine, which boasted contributions from over 400 creators. The campaign raised £37,185 (approximately $47,000 USD at the time), nearly three times its original goal of £13,000 (around $16,500 USD). Despite the overwhelming support, the project quickly unraveled. Years later, backers are still waiting for the physical books-both hardcover and paperback-which remain undelivered. While some minor items like trading cards and posters were eventually sent out, the core product never materialized. A digital version was released but received harsh criticism for being incomplete and filled with errors.

Beyond the fulfillment issues, Brown's conduct toward backers and contributors has raised serious concerns. Numerous reports describe backers being blocked on social media and even threatened with legal or police action for simply asking about the project's progress. Some contributors who voiced public concerns were similarly targeted. Communication from Brown has been erratic at best, often including excuses such as lost emails or imminent shipments that never occurred.

Adding to the controversy are the project's unfulfilled charitable promises. Brown had publicly committed to donating a portion of the proceeds to NHS Charities and The Hero Initiative, yet no public evidence of any such donations has been provided. The absence of transparency around the roughly $47,000 raised has led to widespread distrust among supporters and creators alike.

Kickstarter's legal team reportedly investigated the campaign, resulting in restrictions being placed on Brown's account. The Tales from the Quarantine fallout has had a ripple effect across the crowdfunding space, casting a long shadow over future comic projects and serving as a cautionary tale about the importance of accountability, honest communication, and delivering on promises.
