Simon Kinberg Teases His Approach For Upcoming Star Wars Trilogy
Image
As the Star Wars universe continues to expand across TV and film, fans have been eager to learn more about the franchise's future on the big screen. In 2024, it was announced that the franchise is developing a new Star Wars trilogy headed by Invasion showrunner and longtime sci-fi writer/producer Simon Kinberg.

Apart from Kathleen Kennedy's statement that Kinberg's new saga will be the most important for Star Wars' future, Lucasfilm has remained characteristically tight-lipped about the project. There has been speculation that Kinberg's trilogy continues on from previous mainline films, debuting Episodes X to Xii with Daisy Ridley's Rey as the central protagonist, or even acting as a complete Star Wars reboot.

Now, in an interview with ScreenRant's Grant Hermanns, Kinberg has finally opened up about his creative philosophy for the new Star Wars trilogy following his sci-fi drama TV series. When asked about how Invasion...

John Boyega Thought The Star Wars Sequel Trilogy Had A Different Plan For Finn And Rey
Image
One of the biggest cautionary tales of the last decade regarding blockbuster filmmaking is the "Star Wars" Sequel Trilogy. Undoubtedly, the most polarizing franchise films of the 2010s, Episodes VII, VIII, and IX, remain a major point of contention for fans of George Lucas' galaxy far, far away. Many would agree that, as individual films, the sequels may have their standout moments, but do not work cohesively as a three-film story due to a lack of planning amongst the creatives involved.

Basically, the "Star Wars" Sequel Trilogy was a game of telephone with each entry, with J.J. Abrams setting up the foundation, only for Rian Johnson to answer back with "The Last Jedi" -- arguably the most divisive blockbuster of the century so far. Although Johnson was originally set to pass the torch to Colin Trevorrow, the "Jurassic World" director dropped out due to creative differences, which led to Abrams'...

John Boyega Reveals the Finn & Rey Arc He Expected in Star Wars Sequel Trilogy
Image
John Boyega has previously described how disappointed he was with Finn's arc in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Now, Boyega has spoken about where he expected Finn's storyline to go in the sequels.

Appearing at Fan Expo Boston, via Screen Rant, he explained he expected Finn and Rey to end up enemies eventually like Obi-Wan and Anakin, saying, “I think I assumed [Finn] was Force-sensitive from The Force Awakens script or at least by the time I got to the end of The Force Awakens script. I thought they were planning dual Jedis. I actually thought that they would Obi-Wan and Darth Vader us a bit. That we would turn against each other or something along those lines."

Finn ended up having storylines that took him away from Rey, while Rey trained with Luke Skywalker and ended up battling Palpatine. The final movie of the sequel trilogy, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,...

‘The Last Jedi’ Star Says Star Wars Is Even More Secretive Than You Can Imagine [Exclusive]
Image
It’s been almost 10 years since the release of Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi, and one star from the film is pulling back the curtain on her experience joining the Star Wars universe. While it may be stars like Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, and John Boyega that get the lion’s share of the praise for the sequel movies, other stars like Hermione Corfield help fill the universe with rebel heroes that give it life.

Corfield recently caught up with Perri Nemiroff for an episode of Collider Ladies Night, and she explained how she learned more about her character’s history from fans: “Yeah, I’ve read my whole backstory. I got sent a whole backstory of the character. I’ve got my dolls. I’ve got my Lego figures. It was pretty, pretty wild.” It’s always jarring for anyone to see themselves immortalized in a lifelike figure or Lego set.

John Boyega Reveals What He Thought Would Happen in the 'Star Wars' Sequel Trilogy
Image
John Boyega, the actor known for playing Finn in theStar Warssequel trilogy, has revealed what he thought would be the direction of the franchise after he read the script for Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens. The first film in the latest trilogy put Finn beside Rey (Daisy Ridley) as a strong partner during their search for Luke and the battle against the First Order. The problem is that, in the following movies, Finn's role was markedly reduced. Even though he can be seen in the posters, Boyega isn't as prominent in the follow-up films, something he was admittedly surprised by. Upon reading that first script, he actually thought he'd have a larger role, be Force-sensitive, and eventually become a worthy antagonist.

As reported by Screen Rant, Boyega appeared at Fan Expo Boston, where he talked about his tenure in the Star Wars franchise. When talking about The...

The best scene in every live-action Star Wars film
Image
I recall watching the original trilogy every morning on the weekends before The Phantom Menace was released when I was a kid. Now fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the next Star Wars film on the big screen, The Mandalorian and Grogu in May 2026.

Fans can enjoy the 11 films from the franchise on the big screen before Din Djarin and The Child make their silver screen debut. Each Star Wars movie has one scene that fans still adore, and that is seemingly more memorable than all the rest.

Star Wars A New Hope (1977) - The Falcon escapes the Death Star

In the original film, Han and Luke battle tie fighters in an effort to escape the Death Star. It set the tone for the way each space battle would be shot and edited and coupled with John Williams cue had a sense of adventurous suspense.

John Boyega says he expected Finn to train as a Jedi and face Rey
John Boyega in Pacific Rim 2: Uprising (2018)
John Boyega says he expected Finn’s arc to push further into Jedi territory — and even collide with Rey’s — when he first signed on to the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Speaking at a fan convention in Boston, the actor explained that after reading the script for The Force Awakens he assumed Finn would train in the Force and that the story might position him and Rey on opposing paths, in a rivalry echoing an earlier master–apprentice split in the saga. He framed it as the direction he believed the films were headed, not as an unfulfilled promise or a new plan.

Hints about Finn’s sensitivity to the Force appeared throughout the trilogy, from his lightsaber use in the first film to late-stage dialogue in The Rise of Skywalker, though the character never formally embarked on Jedi training on screen. That gap has lingered for many viewers who...

John Boyega Assumed Finn Would Become a Jedi in ‘Star Wars’ Trilogy and Rey Would ‘Turn Against’ Him Like ‘Obi-Wan and Darth Vader’
Image
John Boyega had a different expectation for his “Star Wars” arc than what made it on the big screen.

During an appearance at Fan Expo Boston (via Screen Rant), Boyega, who played Stormtrooper turned Rebel soldier Finn in the “Star Wars” sequel trilogy, said he expected his character to become a Jedi alongside Rey after “The Force Awakens.” He also thought they were destined to become enemies after they both mastered the Force.

“I think I assumed he was Force-sensitive from ‘The Force Awakens’ script or at least by the time I got to the end of ‘The Force Awakens’ script,” he said. “I thought they were planning dual Jedis. I actually thought that they would Obi-Wan and Darth Vader us a bit. That we would turn against each other or something along those lines.”

Since the debut of his trilogy’s final installment, 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker,” Boyega...

John Boyega thought Finn and Rey would turn against each other in Star Wars
Image
John Boyega, known for his portrayal of Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, recently shared insights into his original expectations for his character's journey. During an appearance at Fan Expo Boston (via ScreenRant), Boyega revealed that he anticipated a storyline where Finn and Rey would develop into "dual Jedi," potentially mirroring the complex relationship between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker. He told panel attendees, “I actually thought that they would Obi-Wan and Darth Vader us a bit. That we would turn against each other or something along those lines.”

Boyega's comments shed light on the initial direction he believed Finn's character would take. In The Force Awakens, Finn is introduced as a former stormtrooper who defects from the First Order, aligning himself with the Resistance. The film hints at his potential Force sensitivity, especially during his confrontation with Kylo Ren. Boyega noted that he assumed Finn's Force abilities would be explored further,...

John Boyega Reveals His Epic Vision for Finn in Star Wars & It Blows Away What We Got
Image
John Boyega, who played Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, has been vocal about his disappointment with Lucasfilm for several reasons, primarily centered around the handling of his character and the broader treatment of diverse actors in the franchise. Below, I’ll break down the key reasons for his frustration, using simple language and drawing from his own words and relevant sources, while keeping the tone casual but clear.

Boyega felt that Finn, a former Stormtrooper introduced as a major character in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), was sidelined as the trilogy progressed. He believed Finn was set up to be a central figure, possibly even a Jedi, but his role shrank in The Last Jedi (2017) and The Rise of Skywalker (2019).

In a 2020 interview with British GQ, Boyega said, “What I would say to Disney is do not bring out a Black character, market them to be much more...

John Boyega's Original Vision for Finn's Star Wars Journey
Image
Star Wars star John Boyega explains what he expected from Finn's story, and it's very different from what audiences ended up getting. Released in 2015, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens marked a new era for the franchise, introducing a host of new characters alongside some familiar favorites.

Boyega's Finn, a defecting stormtrooper, joins forces with Daisy Ridley's Rey and Oscar Isaac's Poe in The Force Awakens, eventually becoming a crucial ally in the fight against Adam Driver's Kylo Ren. Though there were teases in the 2015 film that Finn is Force-sensitive, this didn't play a big role in the subsequent movies, and his arc remains divisive.

During a recent interview with ScreenRant's Liz Declan at Fan Expo Boston, Boyega reveals that he thought Finn would have a more Jedi-oriented story following The Force Awakens. The actor explains that he thought the teases featured in...

Next 'Star Wars' Movies Reportedly Getting the "Mandoverse" Treatment
Image
The future of Star Wars might be coming into place, and it could be good news to some, while worrisome to others. The franchise has several feature-length projects in the pipeline, with The Mandalorian & Grogu set for release in May 2026, followed by Starfighter in May 2027. While The Mandalorian & Grogu takes place in the period between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens in a series of interconnected stories fans call the Mandoverse, Starfighter will be the first Star Wars film set after The Rise of Skywalker. However, it seems another upcoming project will take fans into the future of a galaxy far, far away.

A new rumor, from scooper Daniel Ritchman (via Sff Gazette), suggests that the Daisy Ridley-led New Jedi Order film will jumpstart a new slate of movies for Lucasfilm. Disney reportedly is looking to tell a series of stories set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker,...

Rumor: Lucasfilm Planning A Mandoverse-Style Slate Of Star Wars Movie Set Post-the Rise Of Skywalker
Image
At Star Wars Celebration in 2023, Lucasfilm revealed its plans for a new Star Wars movie revolving around Daisy Ridley's Rey Skywalker. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is still attached to direct the movie, which has been through multiple writers since it was first announced.

Now, with The Adjustment Bureau and The Bourne Ultimatum's George Nolfi hard at work on the latest draft, scooper Daniel Richtman (via SFFGazette.com) has shared some new insights into Lucasfilm's post-The Rise of Skywalker plans.

He explains that it will be similar to the "Mandoverse," with multiple stories told in that period. The first of those is expected to be Daily Ridley's New Jedi Order, an indication that Star Wars: Starfighter may not be part of this slate.

That's been widely reported to take place 5 years after Episode IX, with the Rey-led movie set 15 years later. There may be some loose threads between them, but...

Liam Neeson's 'Naked Gun' Reboot Becomes His Highest-Grossing Movie of the Decade
Image
After becoming the actor's biggest box office opening in over ten years, The Naked Gun reboot has helped Hollywood veteran Liam Neeson to another huge milestone, superbly taking the comedic baton over from the late great Leslie Nielsen. Officially, thanks to another $2.7 million domestically on the most recent Tuesday, The Naked Gun has surpassed the $32.6 million earned by 2020's Honest Thief to become the actor's highest-grossing movie of the decade so far.

So far, from just six days in theaters, The Naked Gun has earned an impressive $32.9 million, split between a domestic haul of $21.4 million and a further $11.4 million from overseas markets. Neeson's recent filmography doesn't boast much financial success, with the likes of 2024's Absolution, 2023's In the Land of Saints and Sinners, and Marlowe from the same year all struggling to even hit $10 million worldwide. In fact, the last time Neeson saw huge blockbuster success was as part...

“Dawn of the Jedi” or Delay of the Jedi? James Mangold’s Star Wars Epic Faces New Uncertainty
Image
James Mangold, director of Logan and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, is set to helm a new Star Wars film titled Dawn of the Jedi. This film aims to delve into the origins of the Jedi Order, exploring the Force's beginnings approximately 25,000 years before the events of A New Hope. Mangold has described the project as a "Cecil B. DeMille-style biblical epic," drawing inspiration from classics like The Ten Commandments.

However, Mangold's involvement in another high-profile project, High Side, has raised concerns about potential delays for the Star Wars film. Reports in January 2025 suggested that the script for Dawn of the Jedi, co-written by Mangold and Andor’s Beau Willimon, is expected to be completed by the summer, with casting to follow. Production was reportedly tentatively scheduled to begin in December, though there was never official confirmation of this timeline.

Now, with Mangold's commitment to his new...

‘Star Wars: New Jedi Order’ leak reveals post-sequel plans—but is it real?
Image
A recent purported leak from Daniel Richtman has sparked renewed interest and skepticism among fans regarding the future of the Star Wars franchise. According to the leak, Lucasfilm is planning an entirely new era titled the "New Jedi Order," set approximately 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. According to various reports, this era – if the rumors are to be believed – will be structured similarly to the Mandoverse, with multiple interconnected stories leading to a culminating event that brings back legacy characters.

The first film in this new era is reportedly the long-awaited Rey-centric movie, with Daisy Ridley reprising her role as the titular character. Expected to be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, the movie is likely to focus on Rey's journey to rebuild the Jedi Order. However, even Ridley herself has said she doesn’t know when cameras will start rolling.

Adding to the complexity, another upcoming Star Wars film,...

Chewbacca isn’t Han Solo's sidekick
Image
For half a century, Star Wars fans have accepted a simple yet enduring truth: Han Solo is the rugged smuggler with a fast ship, and Chewbacca is his loyal sidekick. But what if we’ve had it backward this whole time? What if Han Solo is actually Chewbacca’s pet?

Yes, it sounds ridiculous. But stop for a moment and really think about it. Look past the blaster and the bravado, and the dynamic between Han and Chewie starts to look a lot less like “pilot and co-pilot,” and a lot more like “dog and human”—except Chewbacca is the one holding the leash.

Let’s break it down.

Chewie is clearly the adult in the room

Han Solo is the plucky, rude, yapping scoundrel. He runs his mouth. Constantly. He’s impulsive, arrogant, and more often than not, just making things worse. And who’s always there to clean up the mess?...

Star Wars is already in its third dark times era
Image
The 16-year hiatus between Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983) and Episode I - Phantom Menace (1999)—and again after Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005) until Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015))—became known to fans as the Dark Times. That is, stretches when Star Wars went more-or-less silent. Now, in 2025, we might be living through another one.

At age 81, George Lucas finally took the Comic-Con stage—his first-ever visit—and talked Star Wars only to remind everyone he’s moved on. Focusing on the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, he spoke passionately about collecting comic and narrative art, not specifically the future of the galaxy far, far away.

Granted, Lucas sold his empire (pun intended) in 2012, handing over all creative direction to The Walt Disney Company. While he hasn’t played an official role in the future of the galaxy in well over a decade,...

‘Star Wars: A New Hope’ Will Return to Theaters in 2027 to Honor 50th Anniversary
Image
Mark your calendars, because moviegoers will get to hear: “May the Force be with you” in theaters once again.

Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, which kicked off the legendary trilogy and franchise, is heading back to theaters just in time for its 50th anniversary. Lucasfilm owner Disney has confirmed a theatrical release is set for April 30, 2027.

A New Hope originally hit theaters on May 25, 1977 and starred Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Harrison Ford as Han Solo and the late Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia. And the film saw the introduction to one of the most iconic villains of all time, Darth Vader (physically played by David Prowse, with James Earl Jones providing the voice).

Created by George Lucas, the franchise expanded into the early 2000s with prequel films starring Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor. The sequels began with 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, featuring Daisy Ridley,...

Next James Bond Film Hires 'Peaky Blinders' Creator To Pen Script
Image
The next era of James Bondhas officially arrived, as the upcoming 007 reboot has finally hired a writer to work out a screenplay. With Dune director Denis Villeneuve on board to helm the film, it was only a matter of time before Amazon found the perfect scribe to introduce a new Bond. Fans are going to love who ultimately landed the coveted job.

Deadline reports that Amazon has hired Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight to write the screenplay for James Bond 26. The British screenwriter met with Villeneuve at some point in the last week, giving the hire the final seal of approval. The report adds that the search for who will play the next Bond has not been a priority in the past few weeks, as hiring a screenwriter was a top goal for Amazon and producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman. With a writer and director officially attached to usher in a new Bond,...

Next James Bond Movie Taps Steven Knight to Write
Image
Steven Knight is the latest bold faced name to join the James Bond creative team.

Knight will write the script for filmmaker Denis Villeneuve, who is directing the next 007 film for Amazon MGM Studios and producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman.

Knight’s hiring marks an end of an era for the Bond franchise, at least in terms of its writers. Actor Daniel Craig said goodbye to the character with 2021’s No Time To Die, which also was the last Bond movie to be shaped by longtime scribes Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who worked on the franchise beginning with 1999’s The World Is Not Enough.

Knight is a respected scribe, who is working on a Peaky Blinders film and whose past work includes the 2002, feature Dirty Pretty Things, for which he earned an original screenplay Oscar nomination, Eastern Promises and Spencer, as well as creating the Jason Momoa Apple series See.

Why Star Wars: The Last Jedi Director Rian Johnson Killed Supreme Leader Snoke
Image
The only thing about "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" that everyone can agree on is how people don't agree about it — but that's what happens when you take bold swings in a story. One of the boldest that writer-director Rian Johnson took was killing off Snoke (Andy Serkis), Supreme Leader of the First Order and master to dark warrior Kylo Ren, né Ben Solo (Adam Driver).

J.J. Abrams' "The Force Awakens" introduced Snoke as a sinister, shadowy figure, but it also largely glossed over how the galaxy had essentially returned to the status quo of the original trilogy. Snoke was clearly the film's analogue to Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid), but how had this never-before seen villain climbed to such a powerful role? The vagueness made many fans assume that more information about the rise of Snoke would be revealed in the next two films.

Instead, in "The Last Jedi,...

Daisy Ridley's husband cast as movie adaptation of Star Wars fanfic hit
Image
British actor Tom Bateman has officially been cast as Dr. Adam Carlsen in the highly anticipated film adaptation of The Love Hypothesis, starring opposite Lili Reinhart. The movie is based on the bestselling romance novel by Ali Hazelwood, which itself began as Star Wars fanfiction. But the real twist? Bateman is married to Daisy Ridley—the actress who played Rey, one half of the romantic pairing that originally inspired the novel.

Published in 2021, The Love Hypothesis follows Olive Smith, a third-year PhD student who, in an effort to convince her best friend that she’s over a former flame, kisses the first man she sees: Dr. Adam Carlsen, a notoriously grumpy, hyper-intelligent professor. To maintain the illusion, they agree to fake a relationship. But, of course, as is classic in the fake-dating trope, real feelings start to emerge.

The book quickly became a fan favorite for its mix of academic life,...

How Andy Serkis Really Feels About Snoke's Death In Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Image
If you asked a million people what they think about "Star Wars: Episode VIII -- The Last Jedi," you might end up getting a million different answers. Rian Johnson's unexpectedly complex sequel to "The Force Awakens" blew the doors open on what a "Star Wars" movie could be and proved to be a lightning rod for the most toxic members of the "Star Wars" fandom. The film's approach to what came before it is in keeping with "Star Wars" creator George Lucas' own ethos, and its defenders continue to uphold "The Last Jedi" as the most exciting entry in the franchise to come out of the Disney era.

That division even carries over to the film's cast, as the movie's actors have begun to share their own complicated thoughts and feelings about "The Last Jedi" candidly over the years. John Boyega, whose defecting former stormtrooper Finn was unfortunately sidelined...

How Star Wars: The Last Jedi Director Rian Johnson Really Felt About The Rise Of Skywalker

There's nothing the internet loves more than good ol' fashioned drama, and very few franchises over the last decade or so (with the possible exception of Zack Snyder's now-defunct Dceu) have delivered more of that than "Star Wars." You can probably see where I'm going with this. When "The Last Jedi" hit theaters back in 2017, online reactions could generously be described as mixed. Real ones recognized what writer/director Rian Johnson was trying to do with the sequel film, wrapping an emotionally complex story about legacy and the weight of the past around a love letter to the overall franchise. To others, well, the blockbuster went against their expectations to such an extent that it felt like a total aberration compared to "The Force Awakens" ... until "The Rise of Skywalker" hit just two years later, at least.

Given the many, ah, curious decisions made in the grand finale to the Skywalker Saga,...

Why A New Prime Video Movie Casting Has Star Wars Fans Spiraling
Image
Casting for new movies and television shows has become a frequent spectacle on social media, especially in the era of so many franchises taking up so much oxygen in the room. Prime Video experienced this spotlight in a particularly strange way as their new romantic comedy, "The Love Hypothesis," ended up being a main character-level social media talking point after casting Tom Bateman as the male lead of that story. "Star Wars" fans instantly began spiraling, but not in their usual depressing way, as this obsession and discussion was a good deal more positive. Hollywood can be quirky, and this is the kind of pop culture story that needs a bit of explaining to illustrate what has all of these "Star Wars" fans talking after such a mundane casting announcement.

Tom Bateman will star opposite Lili Reinhart in "The Love Hypothesis," according to Deadline, and that's about the funniest casting...

Daisy Ridley's husband cast in adaptation of made-over Reylo fan-fiction
Image
There are meta moments in Hollywood, and then there’s a Star Wars actress’ spouse being cast in a film based on Reylo fanfiction! Here’s how it’s happening!

Fan-fiction, the writing of original stories using characters from popular films, books games and TV shows, has been around since before the Internet, and many fanfic writers have produced great work. Indeed, it often seems the fan-fiction writers are better than the professionals paid millions for screenplays.

Some tales are famous, such as how E.L. James wrote Twilight fan-fiction that she turned into the best-selling 50 Shades books, which became hit movies. Likewise, Cassandra Clare wrote a Harry Potter fanfic that turned into The Mortal Instruments, which inspired a failed movie and the successful Shadowhunters show.

One subset of Star Wars fan-fiction is “Reylo,” which involves stories of romance between sequel trilogy character Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver...

A New Movie With Reylo Fanfic Origins Just Cast Daisy Ridley’s Husband As The Male Lead
Image
The adaptation of bestselling romance author Ali Hazelwood's debut novel, The Love Hypothesis, has just cast its male lead, and the choice will likely please Reylo's most fervent shippers. Many writers get their start in fanfiction, as it's a great way to develop the craft. One such writer is Ali Hazelwood, whose debut romance novel, The Love Hypothesis, famously began as Reylo fanfiction.

For the uninitiated, Reylo is the official fandom name for the fictional relationship between the Star Wars sequel trilogy's Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), who are enemies turned allies turned "blink-and-you-miss-it" lovers. Hazelwood has since stepped away from the galaxy far, far, away; most of her novels, including The Love Hypothesis, are categorized as Stem romances.

It was previously announced that Riverdale's Lili Reinhart would be taking on The Love Hypothesis' female lead role as Olive Smith, a third-year PhD candidate who trips...

Popular Star Wars-Inspired Fan-Fiction Novel Just Landed a Movie Deal
Image
Star Wars actor Daisy Ridley's husband, Tom Bateman, is set to star in the feature film adaptation of a novel that began as fan-fiction set in a galaxy far, far away. The original story, titled Head Over Feet, chronicled a romantic relationship between Kylo Ren and Rey.

Per Entertainment Weekly, Bateman will be taking the lead alongside Lili Reinhart in the big-screen adaptation of Ali Hazelwood's 2021 novel, The Love Hypothesis. The film is slated to be produced via Amazon MGM Studios, with Claire Scanlon directing and Sarah Rothschild penning the screenplay. The story revolves around third-year Ph.D. student Olive who, due to stress and pressure after a breakup, embarks upon a fake relationship with biology professor Doctor Adam J. Carlsen.

Over the course of the novel, Olive and Adam's fake relationship evolves into something far more sincere than either of them could have possibly expected at its outset.

Star Wars officially 'kills off' beloved character, confirming fans' worst fears
Image
Nothing lasts forever, and you can rest assured that this is extra imperative in a world as high stakes as the one that Star Wars exists in. Heck, look no further than all of the eras that the franchise has taken us through - from the Republic Era to the Imperial Era, that galaxy so far, far away has seen a lot over the years.

Death is one of those inevitable things that the Star Wars universe is full of. We've witnessed plenty of untimely demises throughout the classic franchise, particularly in the original Skywalker Saga that took us through many eras and times - all of which featured epic battles that often ended in the death of at least one character. That trend has continued on into the Disney Plus shows too, which again isn't unexpected considering the life-and-death stakes that the Jedis and Mandalorians of this world face on a daily basis.

'The Love Hypothesis' Casts Daisy Ridley's Real-Life Husband in Novel Adaptation Inspired by Star Wars Fanfiction
Image
The Love Hypothesis is officially heading to the big screen, and it’s bringing all the fake-dating, lab-coat, slow-burn swoon of Ali Hazelwood’s fan-favorite romance novel with it. The film, a production of Amazon MGM Studios, stars Riverdale’sLili Reinhart as Olive Smith, a Ph.D. student with a major problem — she needs everyone to believe she’s in a relationship. The solution? A fake boyfriend in the form of grumpy, genius professor Dr. Adam Carlsen. But while we know Reinhart is locked in as the lovable Olive, the big question remained: who will play Adam? Well, now we know.

And it's the most brilliant piece of meta-casting you could imagine, because Tom Bateman (Murder on the Orient Express) has taken on the role. That's all well and good, but why is it meta? Well, Bateman happens to be married to Star Wars icon Daisy Ridley. Read on below...

'The Love Hypothesis' Adaptation Finds Its Lead in a 'Riverdale' Star
Image
Riverdale's Lili Reinhart is about to embark on an experiment in romance. She's set to star in The Love Hypothesis, an adaptation of Ali Hazelwood's romantic comedy bestseller of the same name. The film, which was announced back in 2022, is a production of Amazon MGM Studios...and has a surprising connection to Star Wars.

Deadline reports that Reinhart will also executive produce the film, which centers around biology grad student Olive Smith (Reinhart). She's trying to convince her friends that her love life isn't the disaster it actually is, so she concocts a fake relationship with an unlikely partner: Dr. Adam Carlsen, an academic rising star and a major pain in Olive's butt. He has his own reasons for playing along, and the two soon start to forget that they're supposed to be faking it. Will this experiment have a successful result, or will it blow up in everyone's faces?...

'Star Wars' Director Shuts Down One Big Theory About 'The Last Jedi'
Image
Despite not having stepped into the Star Wars Universe for eight years, Rian Johnson is still having to address the controversies surrounding his entry in the sequel trilogy. Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi would wind up being critically successful, garnering an impressive 91% "fresh" rating on the review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes from 482 critics' reviews. However, its 41% audience score from over 100,000 submitted reviews would end up telling a different story. Many of the complaints from fans would ultimately stem from the fact that the director addressed the plot points of Episode VII - The Force Awakens in a way they didn't find satisfactory.

There has been endless discourse about The Last Jedi online, with some fans even going so far as to say that Johnson intentionally undermined J.J. Abrams' story beats that were all set up at the end of Episode VII. Johnson would argue against this...

Young Leia actress opens up about pressure of playing the iconic Star Wars princess
Image
Stepping into a Star Wars role can be daunting for anyone, but for Obi-Wan Kenobi's Vivian Lyra Blair, the pressure of pleasing fans and carrying Carrie Fisher's legacy was unimaginable.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series surprised fans by focusing on a young Princess Leia Organa and not a young Luke Skywalker. This was a twist that was unexpected and difficult to hide during filming. Behind the scenes, the little girl tasked with portraying a 10-year-old Leia Organa had to cope with heavy expectations.

Via ScreenRant, in a recent interview with More Than You See, Vivien Lyra Blair spoke candidly about the anxiety she felt as a 9-year-old stepping into a franchise with passionate fans. Blair was asked how she felt about playing Leia Organa, a role that's become synonymous with the late Carrie Fisher. Simply put, Blair says she was "terrified."

"I didn’t want to do anything that could possibly dishonor her legacy.

Rian Johnson Reveals What Happened to His Canceled Star Wars Trilogy (& How Far Along It Was)
Image
Star Wars: The Last Jedidirector Rian Johnson opens up about his canceled Star Wars trilogy.

Per Variety, Johnson recently discussed his canceled Star Wars trilogy, explaining that "Nothing really happened with it." Johnson went on to note his positive working relationship with LucasFilm, particularly with company president Kathleen Kennedy. "We had a great time working together, and they said, 'Let's keep doing it.' I said, 'Great!' I would kick ideas around with Kathy. The short version is Knives Out happened."

"I went off and made Knives Out, and was off to the races, busy making murder mysteries," Johnson added, referencing his hit murder mystery feature film series starring Daniel Craig as renowned detective Benoit Blanc. "It's the sort of thing if, down the line, there's an opportunity to do it, or do something else in Star Wars, I would be thrilled. But right now I’m just doing my own stuff,...

Rian Johnson Says Star Wars Backlash Reminded Him of Hating the Prequels — Which Fans Embraced 20 Years Later
Image
Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Knives Outdirector Rian Johnson opens up about his past loathing for the Prequel Trilogy.

Per Rolling Stone, Johnson recently recalled the backlash to 2017's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which in turn led him to look back at his own former disdain for the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy.

"In the moment, it's a complicated chain of reactions to it. It never feels good to have anybody coming after you on the internet, and especially coming after you saying things that I think I very much do not agree with about a thing I made and put a lot of heart and soul into," Johnson said.

"At the same time, having grown up a Star Wars fan ultimately let me contextualize it and feel at peace with it in many different ways," Johnson continued. "Just remembering, going back on one level to arguing on the...

5 most misunderstood Star Wars characters of all time
Image
Over the nearly five decades of Star Wars, the franchise has grown much bigger than many of its early fans and creators ever anticipated. There are so many Star Wars characters to meet and explore that even the most extensive encyclopedias can barely include them all.

With this kind of expansive universe comes a real danger: that some characters' motives and true purposes in various stories become assumed rather than explained. The most misunderstood Star Wars characters, however, also happen to be the most interesting to analyze.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi..Rey (Daisy Ridley).. | Photo: Industrial Light & Magic/Lucasfilm..©2017 Lucasfilm Ltd. All Rights Reserved. 1. Rey Skywalker

Rey Skywalker -- known as simply "Rey" for most of the sequel trilogy films -- is a complicated, deeply layered, and flawed hero. She has significant amounts of power that she often unintentionally misuses. She is stubborn and used to doing things her own way.

Keri Russell's Rise of the Skywalker character deserves to lead her own spinoff movie
Image
There are many rumors swirling as to the future of films in the Star Wars franchise. Many are wondering if the characters from the sequel trilogy will return in either cameos or stand-alone films. From Daisy Ridley to Oscar Isaac, there are many actors in the Star Wars franchise who have also been the subject of much speculation.

One actor from the final film in the Skywalker Saga is Keri Russell. The actress played Zori Bliss, a spice runner and one-time former associate of the main character, Poe Dameron, in The Rise of Skywalker.

The character was clouded in mystery with a cool look and design, but also displayed human moments and was one of the heroes towards the end of the film. Russell added to the mystery of the character and added depth to her, despite having only one moment in the film where you could see the actress's eyes.

Three Years Later, Star Wars' Young Princess Leia Opens Up About The Pressures Of Appealing To The Fanbase
Image
Obi-Wan Kenobi star Vivien Lyra Blair has opened up about what it was like for her to step into such a massive franchise and protect Carrie Fisher’s and Princess LeiaOrgana’s beloved Star Wars legacies. The Obi-Wan Kenobi series may have first and foremost been about Obi-Wan’s hardships in exile, but it also introduced us to a version of Princess Leia we’d never seen before.

While Carrie Fisher’s Leia was just 19 years old in the retitled A New Hope, Vivien Lyra Blair’s version of the character was only 10 years old, a mischievous, wise-cracking, hopeful, and kind young Princess on the cusp of becoming one of the Rebellion’s greatest leaders.

Blair had a difficult balance to strike. How do you show people a new version of such an iconic character while honoring the late Carrie Fisher’s legacy and pleasing Star Wars' notoriously difficult-to-please fanbase?...

Major Star Wars project now in danger of cancellation, reports say
Image
The Star Wars franchise has taken on all-comers to become of the most successful movie series of all time. It's not had a completely smooth run - with both the response to the prequel films and the box office failure of Solo upending momentum throughout the decades - but it has stood the test of time to showcase that it deserves its flowers as one of the all-time great Hollywood franchises.

It took that vast and expansive world that audiences fell in love with on the silver screen and brought it to the small one via a multitude of Disney Plus shows. It found immediate success here too as audiences flocked to watch the likes of The Mandalorian and Obi-Wan Kenobi but there were some misses along the way too, with The Book of Boba Fett disappointing critically and The Acolyte ending up cancelled.

Unfortunately, as the fate of the...

A new Star Wars spin-off may be coming (and it's tied to the sequel trilogy)
Image
Star Wars fans, buckle up: Lucasfilm is reportedly developing a fourth Star Wars spin-off movie, and it could potentially be fairly divisive within the fandom. The latest reports suggest that at least one upcoming Lucasfilm feature film will directly connect to the sequel trilogy timeline.

Per The Direct, scooper Daniel Richtman says Lucasfilm “is discussing a spinoff film to the sequel trilogy”, but further details—like which characters or when production might be officially greenlit—are still under wraps.

Nonetheless, this indicates that fans could be in for a story involving familiar faces from the Skywalker saga episodes VII through IX, or perhaps focusing on underutilized characters like Jannah, long rumored to be Lando Calrissian’s lost daughter.

This spin-off could reopen old wounds among fans. The sequel trilogy remains one of the most polarizing canonical arcs in Star Wars history. A new film tied directly to these three movies...

Die Hard Fans Should Check Out This Daisy Ridley Action Movie On HBO Max
Image
After the controversial and oftentimes hated "Star Wars" sequel trilogy, Rey actress Daisy Ridley has had difficulty finding box office and critical success. Dystopian thrillers were outdated by the time the overly grim "Chaos Walking" came out in 2021, the Trudy Ederle biopic "Young Woman and the Sea" was too bland, and the psychological thriller "The Marsh King's Daughter" snoozed audiences rather than intrigued them. Her quietly fragile performance in "Sometimes I Think About Dying" was exquisite, but it was such a tiny indie release and the title might be off-putting to some.

Ridley recently starred in "Cleaner," which did poorly at the box office, earning only $1 million on a $25 million budget. Although it flew under the radar, "Cleaner" deserves far more credit. It's the kind of taut, explosive action flick for grown-ups that doesn't really exist anymore because theatres are bogged down with IP-driven franchises. The plot of terrorists taking...
