Sunset Rubdown, the reunited art rock project fronted by Wolf Parade’s Spencer Krug, has officially announced Always Happy to Explode, their first new album in 15 years. They’ve also shared “Reappearing Rat,” the album’s first single, as well as a slew of 2024 North American tour dates.
Always Happy to Explode will arrive on September 20th via Krug’s label, Pronounced Kroog. Krug had previously reunited his old bandmates for Sunset Rubdown’s first tour since 2009 last year. Now, they’ve got a brand new collection of songs — their first since 2009’s Dragon Slayer. According to a press release, the band recorded Always Happy to Explode “more or less, live off the floor” at The Noise Floor with producer/engineer Jordan Koop.

Join the Ritual, out September 24th and available to preorder now, features nearly a dozen Jagjaguwar artists and alumni tackling songs by influential indie bands and labels like K Records, Touch & Go,...
