Le Mans (France), May 15 (Ians) Frenchman Fabio Quartararo of Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP grabbed his third consecutive pole position at Le Mans after the qualifying sessions at the Shark Grand Prix de France on Saturday.

Quartararo set a time of 1:32.600 sec on his final flying lap to beat teammate Maverick Vinales by 0.081 sec.

Spanish Gp winner Jack Miller (Ducati Lenovo Team) is also on the front row, while his teammate and World Championship leader, Francesco Bagnaia, will start at 16th.

The day belonged to Quartararo as the Frenchman gave it his all in the final sector to beat teammate Vinales's time by 0.081s, with a shadowing Miller snatching a late front row as well.

On Sunday, Quartararo and Vinales will be hoping for a dry race after Saturday's qualifying was marred by rain.

The film originally opened in the UK back in 2015, but considering it's about motorcycle racing, which isn't that popular in the US (at least compared to NASCAR), it never opened. Until now. Hitting the Apex, narrated by Brad Pitt (who also produced the doc film), is the story of six fighters – six of the fastest motorcycle racers of all time – and the fates that awaited them at the peak of the sport. The racers profiled are: Jorge Lorenzo, Marc Marquez, Dani Pedrosa, Valentino Rossi, Marco Simoncelli, and Casey Stoner. If I’m honest I’d forgotten all about the Moto Racer franchise and with good reason, it’s been over 15 years since the third game was released (although there was apparently a Nintendo DS version of the game from the same developers as this). Sunday was a father-son fun day for Brad Pitt and his and wife Angelina Jolie's 7-year-old son, Knox! The two attended the 2015 British motorcycle Grand Prix, aka the MotoGP World Championship, at Silverstone in Northampton, England. The high adrenalin world of MotoGP - the motorcycling Grand Prix - is captured in this exhilarating documentary narrated by Ewan McGregor. Ten-time world champion Valentino Rossi takes on a whole new band of young competitors just 40 days after a horrific leg break at his home circuit. With rival Jorge Lorenzo holding the 2010 title, it's up to Rossi to see red and win the 2011 contest and regain his crown.

Who’s fastest? That’s the question explored in the latest MotoGP documentary from filmmaker Mark Neale, his follow-up to Faster and The Doctor, The Tornado and the Kentucky Kid. Motorsports have been featured in a few docs recently, with TT3D: Closer to the Edge and Senna having been released in the last year or so. Great timing, then, for the release of Fastest.

The film opens with a breathtaking final lap from a MotoGP race. The two lead riders enter the final lap neck and neck. Trading the lead several times, they keep the crowd guessing until the very final corner. To a viewer more accustomed to Formula 1, where races are generally won through tactics and track conditions, and overtaking is a rare and precious thing, it is a revelation.

Italian motorsport hero Marco Simoncelli has been killed in a horror crash at the Malaysian Moto Grand Prix.

The 24-year-old biker died of chest, head and neck injuries after he lost control of his Honda and collided with fellow Italian Valentino Rossi just four minutes into the race in Sepang on Sunday.

The race was abandoned following the tragedy, which came on the same day as U.S. IndyCar driver Dan Wheldon's funeral. Wheldon died after his car was flipped into the air during a 15-vehicle Indy 300 pile-up in Las Vegas last Sunday.

Paying their respects to flamboyant Simoncelli, British Formula One driver Jenson Button took to Twitter.com and posted, "R.I.P Marco... Such an exciting talent lost. My thoughts are with his family, friends and everyone involved in MotoGP. Motorsport can be so cruel..."

And Button's Formula One teammate Lewis Hamilton writes, "My thoughts are with his family, friends and team at this extremely sad time. Another tragic loss at such an early age."

I have to be honest, my driving game collection has up until this point been comprised entirely of four wheelers, apart from brief flirtations with past editions of Moto Gp (which ended in trade-ins in all cases), with motorsport titles ranking near the bottom in terms of numbers. I don’t know what it is, but up until this year, I have never come across a motorbike racing game that matches the high-octane excitement of watching the sport- and despite preferring it as a sporting spectacle to Formula One, I have never felt quite as compelled to pick one up the same way I religiously buy the F1 games as they hit the market.

An Italian motorcyclist has reportedly won his appeal against a decision to revoke his licence after he was clocked as driving at 383mph. Paolo Turina of Cernusco Lombardone, Lombardy was also fined in the incident, but argued that an error must have occurred, Giornale di Merate reports. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's adopted son Maddox is a potential motorcycle champion, according to Italian MotoGP ace Valentino Rossi.

Pitt treated bike-fan Maddox to a day at Mugello race track on Sunday (1Jun08) after jetting there in a helicopter from the couple's retreat in the south of France.

And the six-year-old got up close to the action and the riders, including seven-times world champ Rossi, who told Us Weekly, "Brad said Maddox is very interested in bikes. We might have another champion on our hands."...
