Caleb Hearon Debut Comedy Special Trailer and Premiere Date on HBO Max Revealed (Exclusive)
Image
Caleb Hearon is ready for you to laugh, preferably while high, while watching his upcoming debut stand-up special premiering on HBO and HBO Max Sept. 19.

The comedian-actor-podcaster tells The Hollywood Reporter that the hour-long comedy special, titled Caleb Hearon: Model Comedian, was some time in the making. “The newest joke in that special is maybe a week old and the oldest premise is maybe seven years old or something,” he says. “It’s my first hour that I’ve ever crafted.”

And though he initially questioned if he could put together an hour-long special, he “really built it on the road” throughout his latest sold-out comedy tour, So True Live Tour, adding that “it grew and evolved over time.”

“If you do it really well, it feels effortless to the audience and they forget that you’ve spent thousands of hours poring over every single little piece of this,” Hearon adds.

John Cena Comes Out As A Caleb Hearon Fan Following MrBeast Diss
Image
Earlier this week, YouTube giant and junk-food salesman Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson launched an unprompted public attack on actor, writer and comedian Caleb Hearon after Rolling Stone listed Hearon above him on their list of 2025’s top influencers. Yesterday, Hearon got some support that none of us could see coming.

The same day that Donaldson tweeted a picture of Hearon’s face in the Rolling Stone article with the caption, “According to this list a guy with 1 million followers is more influential than me. What did I do to piss off The Rolling Stones (sic)?” the content creator with an estimated net worth of $1 billion took down his post and pursued peace with Hearon’s fanbase.

Devil Wears Prada 2: Anne Hathaway Had a Scary Fall, And It’s Nothing Like the One From Princess Diaries
Image
Anne Hathaway just had a real-life Andy Sachs moment. While filming The Devil Wears Prada 2 on the bustling streets of New York City, the 42-year-old star took a dramatic tumble that instantly reminded fans of her iconic fall in The Princess Diaries more than two decades ago. This time, though, it wasn’t a royal bleacher mishap but a betrayed pair of silver-studded heels that sent her down a stoop mid-scene, bagel in hand.

Crew members rushed in, but Hathaway, ever the professional, bounced back with a smile and an “I’m fine!” and struck a pose, before finishing the day’s shoot, proving she has the Queen of Geneva DNA intact.

MrBeast Picked A Fight With the Wrong Comedian
Image
YouTube giant and junk-food entrepreneur Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson objected to “The Rolling Stones” placing comedian Caleb Hearon above him on a list of 2025’s top influencers, but he quickly walked back that criticism once he ran into the she/they shooters.

Ever since social media companies began automatically curating users’ feeds, the internet has become such an amalgam of occasionally overlapping algorithms that no two TikTok users are seeing the same content pop up on a daily basis. As such, there are entire million-member communities of terminally online comedy fans who can scroll on Twitter for weeks without seeing so much as a mention of massively successful mass-appeal content creators like Donaldson — that is,...

The Devil Wears Prada 2's Cast Grows With 2 New Additions
Image
The Devil Wears Prada is one of the most iconic films of the 2000s. Considering the film's long-lasting legacy, 20th Century Fox is bringing it back with The Devil Wears Prada 2.

The main cast, which consisted of Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs, Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton, and Stanley Tucci as Nigel, is officially coming back. However, the sequel will feature some brand-new faces, and Deadline reports Rachel Bloom and Patrick Brammall are the latest newcomers.

Caleb Hearon Wants You Off the Internet (Mostly)
Image
Caleb Hearon wants a landline. Specifically one of those old-fashioned corded landlines (maybe even a rotary?) so he can speak to his friends while in the kitchen and making pasta with that long spiral following his steps.

Hearon is done with smartphones. Actually, the whole internet — he wants off. But wait, it’s not that simple, because he has a podcast (So True with Caleb Hearon) and he needs you to listen to it so he can still make money. Hmmm… he’ll let you figure it out.

If you haven’t taken his advice, then you’ve seen his clips floating around the internet. Originally from Missouri, Hearon moved to Chicago after college, and then to Los Angeles and New York to pursue comedy. He rose to fame first on TikTok, where pandemic-addled viewers fell in love with his one-side Pov conversations and his stand-up went viral soon after...

I Am A Recovering Phone Addict, and Liza Treyger Speaks for Me
Image
“It is really wild to, like, think that people are gonna be watching this at home while also watching, like, videos on their phone of rugs getting power-washed,” says Liza Treyger early in her first hour-long stand-up special. Night Owl dropped on Netflix today, just weeks after a widely reblogged n+1 report on the platform deliberately structuring its programming to accommodate viewers who will have it on in the background as they look at their phones. This is bad news for such visually sumptuous, emotionally engaging Netflix titles as The Power of the Dog or One Hundred Years of Solitude, but Treyger cheerfully speaks directly to those members of her audience who don’t feel they need to keep their eyes trained, 100 percent of the time, on a woman talking while mostly standing still — members of her audience like Treyger herself, who goes on to describe having given herself...

The Challenge’s Michele Fitzgerald says ’thank you everyone’ for Season 40 as fans claim she was ‘robbed’
Image
The Challenge: Battle of the Eras season officially concluded as eight competitors ran, or swam, through the final.

It featured a dominant performance on the men’s side, as Jordan Wiseley outdid his fellow finalists every step of the way.

The women’s side also featured strong performances, including Michele Fitzgerald showing her swimming skills.

However, the Karma Vote twist came into play later, and while it didn’t affect the men’s standings, it certainly impacted the women’s.

Host Tj Lavin revealed Michele dropped from second to third place due to her Karma points. Meanwhile, Rachel Robinson’s Karma score helped her move from third to a tie for first place with Jenny West.

The Future Of Funny: 15 Comedians Ready To Break Out In 2025
Image
In 2024, as the film and television industry looked to repair after the year of double labor strikes, comedy continued to explode. Emerging in recent years as the leader in the field, Netflix got the biz off to a good start with a second edition of its festival, Netflix Is a Joke, which expanded its scope as 600-plus artists hit Los Angeles over the course of 12 days, with more than 360,000 tickets sold.

Netflix released nearly 40 stand-up specials this year, but Hulu showed that they’re not to be outdone with the launch of Hularious, a stand-up brand that will see specials from the likes of Bill Burr and Sebastian Maniscalco hitting the platform. During Disney’s Upfront presentation in May, Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group, expressed the intention to make Hulu “a best-in-class destination for comedic talent,” having never before invested in this low-cost, high-impact arena of content.

‘Sweethearts’ Review: Kiernan Shipka Leads a Reductive, Raunchy Rom-Com That Examines Love and Life’s Complexities
Image
Decades after “When Harry Met Sally” asked audiences if adult men and women can be friends, yet another romantic comedy poses the same question of a contemporary collegiate crowd. However, in director Jordan Weiss’ “Sweethearts,” which revolves around two besties breaking up with their hometown romances over a holiday weekend, the time-honored query waits until the last minutes to develop, while a separate pair of screwball-comedy plotlines haven’t properly concluded. Though the film contains a talented ensemble and compelling sentiments about self-acceptance and platonic friendship, it plays like two half-baked screenplays mashed together, bound by wafer-thin connections.

Ben (Nico Hiraga) and Jamie (Kiernan Shipka) have been best friends since childhood and are determined to stick together through their adulthood, starting with attending the same college in the same dorm at Densen University. Outside of their tightknit bond, however, is a world full of complications, from Ben’s roommate Tyler...

How Jordan Weiss’ ‘Sweethearts’ Delivers a Twist on the Classic Friends-to-Lovers Trope
Image
Spoiler Warning: This story includes major plot details for the comedy “Sweethearts,” currently streaming on Max.

The trick to Jordan Weiss’ new comedy ‘Sweethearts’ lies in the unexpected. The filmmaker has seen the YouTube comments about the trailer and says audiences are in for a surprise because the end is anything but predictable.

Her directorial debut follows two freshmen childhood friends, Jamie (Kiernan Shipka) and Ben (Nico Hiraga), who decide to break up with their high school partners simultaneously. The chemistry between Shipka and Hiraga’s characters is so undeniable that it begs the question: Is this a friends-to-lovers story?

Speaking with Variety, Weiss says, “I love the debate that movie [‘When Harry Met Sally’] explores: Can men and women be friends? Because I’ve always been a girl with a lot of guy friends. I created ‘Doll Face,’ which was literally about a girl, like, having lost touch with...

Take, for instance, one of his most famous viral clips: When an anonymous troll commenter wrote that Hearon looks like “he broke into a bakery and ate all the pies,” Hearon responded on an episode of Drew Afualo’s podcast The Comment Section: “Ate all the pies? Like an 18th-century limerick? You’re so soft. I’ll kill you to death with a gun.

‘Sweethearts’ Review: Generic College Comedy Offers Too Little to Be Thankful For
Image
There are already multiple movies about that first, chaotic weekend when college freshmen return home. And the standards aren’t especially high; the genre includes the Pauly Shore comedy “Son-in-Law” and the Hallmark-ian romance “Turkey Drop.” But “Sweethearts,” a sex comedy lacking in sex, silliness or subversion — just one would do — barely clears the bar.

Kiernan Shipka and Nico Hiraga (“Moxie”) are Jamie and Ben, platonic besties who head off to college together. They’ve committed to long-distance relationships with their high school sweethearts, but soon realize they’d rather be single. So, like millions of students before them, they decide to break up with their partners during Thanksgiving weekend.

After a few listless mishaps, they return home to Ohio where the unsuspecting Claire (Ava DeMary) and Simon (Charlie Hall) await. Jamie is convinced the break has to happen immediately, so they enlist their other Bff, Palmer (Caleb Hearon), to help organize the night.

Sweethearts Cast & Character Guide
Image
Warning: This article includes minor spoilers for Sweethearts.

Sweethearts includes a cast led by star Kiernan Shipka but is otherwise comprised of up-and-coming actors who show their potential. The Max original movie puts a twist on the holiday rom-com by centering it on Thanksgiving a holiday thats otherwise been ignored by the genre. Though Sweethearts reviews are mixed, the movie will appeal to fans of the anti-rom-com which follows rom-com tropes and formulas while subverting expectations and challenging the realistic nature of the genre. The films in this sub-genre have messier main characters, show imperfect love, and have different conclusions about popular themes.

Sweethearts hits all the right notes for the anti-rom-com, exploring two best friends as they make a pact to break up with their high school sweethearts. Part of the reason the movie thrives is because of the incredible cast that creates likably unlikable characters. The most recognizable name is Kiernan Shipka,...

Image

They realize they're in a slump and, no longer emotionally invested in their partners, they make a pact to break up with their high school sweethearts before Thanksgiving.

Sweethearts Review: Breaking Up and Breaking Through
Image
“Sweethearts” follows Jamie and Ben, two best friends who navigate the turbulent seas of freshman year at Densen College. They are dedicated to maintaining long-distance relationships with high school sweethearts Simon and Claire. Still, they soon find that these connections are more limiting than beneficial. Jamie finds herself faking interest on phone calls. At the same time, Ben struggles to participate in campus life while being constantly digitally monitored by his girlfriend.

After a wild night out with their roommates, the two plan to break up with their significant others on Thanksgiving Eve. This is more than just breaking relationships; it’s about reclaiming their college experience and personal independence. The strategy appears easy but proves to be anything but pushing them into a series of comedic and emotionally difficult situations.

Palmer, Jamie, and Ben’s high school companions, who took a gap year in France, weave his way into their journey.
