May just started, but I think I want to skip ahead to June. Why? Because an underrated and deeply disturbing horror film has just been confirmed to be hitting Netflix next month. If you’re a fan of terrifyingly twisted and unpredictable films, this one is sure to deliver non-stop tension, shocking twists, and a story that will leave you questioning everything. Mark your calendar because Barbarian is coming to Netflix on Sunday, June 1, 2025!
Barbarian comes from Zach Cregger, who wrote and directed the film. This was his first venture into horror, marking a bold departure from his previous work in comedy. Now, he's gone on to produce movies like the recent sci-fi thriller Companion. In fact, he's even behind one of the most anticipated horror films of this year, which is Weapons.

Quick Links How Wrecked Parodies Lost Why Lost Fans Should Give Wrecked a Shot Should Wrecked Get a Comeback with Season 4?
Many fans of Lost who tuned in during its initial run would be hard-pressed to forget just how much of a massive phenomenon the show was throughout the mid-to-late 2000s. It was a show that, in a way, revolutionized how television shows have since been produced, paving the way for other serialized drama series and establishing the kind of rabidly dedicated fandom that can be seen with many other series online. Even after a finale that left several viewers confused and disappointed, the show is still being remembered nearly fourteen years later for everything else that it did so well. With a show so popular, it was only natural that several parodies would follow on numerous late-night and sketch comedy shows like Saturday Night Live. Nearly six years after its ending,...

In 2006 writer-director Dito Montiel broke out with the autobiographical “A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints,” ushering in a raw new voice. Inspired by his rough childhood growing up in Astoria, the film’s detailed world building and lived-in characters brought a veracity to the well-worn crime-drama genre. Somehow, two decades and half a dozen films later, everything that made his debut film feel fresh has now curdled like bad milk with his latest pitch black comedy “Riff Raff.”
While Montiel is still a great “actors director,” eliciting grounded, and at times wonderfully mordant, performances from his stacked ensemble cast, the script from John Pollono has stranded them in a film that plays like a copy of a copy of a copy of several better films. One scene is even underscored with music that evokes Martin Scorsese’s “After Hours.” If you’re going to rip something off so blatantly, it...

This summer the Coen Brothers’ ripoffs have been out in force including the August release of Greedy People and the Apple Original Films streaming attraction The Instigators. You might call these, and many others in recent years, Coens-light. But then again even the Coens themselves, or at least Ethan, has more recently tried to replicate their earlier success in this genre with the forgettable Drive-Away Dolls earlier this year. So all hail director Dito Montiel and screenwriter John Pollono for getting it right and reviving the genre in style with Riff Raff, world premiering today at the Toronto Film Festival.

Once Upon a One More Time will play its final Broadway performance Sept. 3.
The musical, which features the songs of Britney Spears and a storyline about fairytale princesses in search of enlightenment, began preview performances at the Marquis Theatre on May 13 and opened June 22. Spears approved the musical and suggested its initial themes. She also signed an underlying rights agreement with the show, which was notably one of the first deals Spears signed since a judge terminated her conservatorship.
The closing notice comes as the musical failed to catch on with critics and with Broadway audiences, with the show reporting capacities in the 50 percent range for the past seven weeks. In the last publicly reported week of grosses, ended Aug. 13, the musical grossed its lowest eight-performance week yet, bringing in $512,008.
Producers James. L Nederlander and Hunter Arnold said there are currently plans underway for a national tour and international productions of the show,...

Hit me, Britney, one more time? In 2005, the Lady of the Lake in Monty Python’s Spamalot lamented, “I’m constantly replaced by Britney Spears.” These days, a lot of composers trying to get their scores onto Broadway stages could sing the same lyric: Spears’s music burst onto Broadway in Moulin Rouge in 2019 (“Toxic” appears in a mashup alongside Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance”) and five of her songs appear in the jukebox musical & Juliet, including “…Baby One More Time,” “Oops!…I Did It Again,” and “Stronger.”
All four of those songs feature in the first all-Britney musical, Once Upon a One More Time, a frivolously delightful entry into the jukebox genre. Even though recent Broadway seasons have brought pro forma biographical musicals like Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, Mj, and A Beautiful Noise, there’s been far greater pleasure in shows like Moulin Rouge, & Juliet, and the delirious...

Once Upon A One More Time is one of the first Britney Spears-backed projects following the termination of her 13-year conservatorship.
Helmed by directors and choreographers Keone and Mari Madrid, with an original story by Jon Hartmere, the musical comedy is slated to open on June 22 at the Marquis Theater and will feature hits like “Oops I Did It Again,” “Lucky,” “Circus” and “Toxic.”
Ahead of its Broadway run, Once Upon a One More Time attempted a pre-Broadway engagement in Chicago beginning in 2019. Initially set for the James M. Nederlander Theatre in October, it would be delayed, and the opening rescheduled for April 2020. But in March, the pandemic shut down the theater industry, with the show’s producers eventually deciding to cancel the planned engagement altogether.

“Bob’s Burgers” is back with a new season later this month and, much like the rest of us, the Belcher family is facing a public health crisis.
A new promo for the upcoming 11th season released by Fox on Tuesday, teases an upcoming episode titled “Worms of In-Rear-Ment” in which a pinworm epidemic hits the local community, derailing Linda’s plans to take her family to the symphony. Maybe not a global coronavirus pandemic, but still pretty bad.

It's official. Like the passengers of the SS Minnow before them, the Lotus airlines castaways will remain stranded. As reported in February, the Wrecked TV show on TBS has been cancelled. At that time, star Zach Cregger announced the series' end on Twitter. Now the TBS cancellation has been confirmed.
A TBS single-camera comedy, Wrecked also stars Ally Maki, Asif Ali, Brian Sacca, Brooke Dillman, Jessica Lowe, Rhys Darby, and Will Greenberg. Guest stars include Rob Corddry, Eugene Cordero, Jonno Roberts, Karan Soni, Rachel House, Robert Baker, and Will Hines. The Lost parody centers on a diverse group of strangers who are stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash. In the third and final season, the castaways find themselves shipwrecked on a mysterious billionaire’s private island, where they're forced to hunt each other to the death in a basic-cable battle royale.

Ratings for season 3 has fallen to an average of 0.32 in the key 18-49 demographic, and the total viewership was down to around 850,000 across the season. Season 2 had posted only slightly better ratings, with a 0.39 average, and a higher total viewership of just over 1 million.

It’s official — TBS will not be ordering a fourth season of its comedy series Wrecked.
The writing had been on the wall for the series about a group of people stranded on an island, after their airplane crashed in the ocean. Its third season ended its run in October, and star Zach Cregger indicated on Twitter last summer that there would be no fourth season.
Wrecked, a comedic take on Lost — was a breakout hit for TBS when it debuted in 2016 but its ratings have tapered off since then.
Wrecked was about a diverse group of airplane passengers stranded on an uninhabited island, a dangerous new world where they must face many threats – mostly brought on by themselves. No longer plugged into the rest of the world, the group struggled to navigate their makeshift society while also learning to live without such modern comforts as indoor plumbing, wi-fi, social media and Chipotle.

If Lost and Gilligan's Island had a baby, it might well be Wrecked. The first season of this comedy TV show did well enough to score a second season renewal. Can this TBS sitcom repeat the magic and maybe even build its audience? Will Wrecked be cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned. A single-camera comedy, Wrecked stars Ally Maki, Will Greenberg, Brian Sacca, Asif Ali, Brooke Dillman, Jessica Lowe, Ginger Gonzaga, Rhys Darby, and Zach Cregger. The TBS satirical comedy follows a diverse group of strangers who are stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash. It’s a dangerous new world where they face many threats — mostly brought on by themselves. When we were asked to beautiful Marina Del Rey, California to hang out on a party barge with the cast of TBS’ Wrecked, we jumped at the chance—provided, that is, that we could ask them whatever silly questions we wanted. Given that the show is a comedy about a group of travelers stranded on a desert island, we figured we’d go with a tried and true query: What would Brian Sacca, Brooke Dillman, and Ally Maki choose, collectively, if they could only bring five movies to a desert island? The results range from the popular to the dark, with Sacca perhaps deliberately trying to throw a few wrenches into the ol’ desert island DVD collection.
Season two of Wrecked is airing now on TBS. You can catch up on the whole series on TBS.com.
