Paula Abdul is set to star in a new wrestling comedy movie 'Raging Midlife'.The 62-year-old star is said to have signed up for the upcoming feature film from 'Evil Cult' director Rob Taylor, as Level 33 Entertainment has acquired the North American rights with plans for an early 2025 release.According to the Hollywood Reporter, Abdul has been cast alongside Eddie Griffin and Walter Koeing.Taylor and Nico Costa - who have co-written the script - will also star in the project.The movie follows two friends who are obsessed with a 1980s wrestler Raging Abraham Lincoln, and they embark on a journey to find his tank top.However, a grieving daughter ends up outbidding them for the top as she looks to fulfill her own father's dying wish.The cast will also feature Matt Zak, Bryna Smith, Darielle Mason, Motch O Mann and Judy Levitt.Costa said in a...

A piece of wrestling memorabilia is the focus of the new action-comedy movie Raging Midlife.

Level 33 Entertainment has acquired North American rights to the feature from director Rob Taylor (Evil Cult). Taylor and Nic Costa penned the script, and the pair star alongside Paula Abdul, Eddie Griffin and Star Trek mainstay Walter Koenig.

Level 33 is eyeing a release in early 2025 following the film’s forthcoming premiere at the Austin Film Festival on Oct. 26. The trailer, which is exclusive to The Hollywood Reporter, can be seen below.

Raging Midlife follows two friends who are obsessed with a 1980s wrestler named Raging Abraham Lincoln and set out to acquire his tank top. Their plan takes a turn when a grieving daughter outbids them for the item to fulfill her dad’s dying wish.

Guardian of the Universe seems to be a follow up, of sorts to the 2003 film Evil Cult – both of which are directed by Rob Taylor, who also stars as hero Neil Stryker – but I must admit the 2003 offering somehow passed me by back in my heady days as a student in Bristol. Shocked that there is a hero called “Neil”? Well get used to it, this film doesn’t play by your rules. Neil is a dad but his parenting seems to boil down to him making jokes to his son (who’s mum is dead) that he killed her, banter. Damn it Neil. You wildcard.

Neil Stryker and the Tyrant of Time is a brilliant title. It also seems to be the least popular title for the film given its being released in the UK (in August) as Guardian of the Universe; a very generic title that has little, or nothing to do with the plot of the film, possibly designed to be confused for more popular, competently made films.
