Just a year after Jujutsu Kaisen ended serialization, Gege Akutami announced his latest manga, Mojuro. After a few sneak peeks at the upcoming release, fans were convinced that it might be related to Jjk. Those speculations have now come true with Akutami himself admitting that the latest series is actually a sequel spinoff of Jujutsu Kaisen.
Mojuro is set to debut on September 8 in Weekly Shonen Jump and is being illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki. It is set to be a short-term sequel spinoff, which might be serialized for 6 months.

Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen has captivated the anime and manga industry with breathtaking action, charismatic characters, and intricate world‑building elements. However, the story also has a lot of plot holes that the mangaka couldn’t address before the Jujutsu Kaisen narrative reached its conclusion in September last year.
These plot holes are the only negative element of the narrative that stopped Jujutsu Kaisen from being a perfect story in every aspect. There were many intriguing plot lines that were introduced in terms of character development, introductions, and dramatic twists, but they were never explicitly addressed, which made it frustrating for fans.
There are 10 plot holes that remain glaringly obvious even after the story ended. These plot holes make Jujutsu Kaisen feel incomplete and leave a huge stain on the legacy of the franchise that amassed a huge fan following over the years.

Let’s be honest: anime is awesome. Swords, spirits, slow-burning romances, crazy battles, high school drama, you name it. But even with all its greatness, anime has one obvious problem it still can’t shake: writing men and women who actually sound like real people, especially when they’re in the same story together.
Too often, anime sticks to tired roles: the passionate boy chasing glory, and the girl cheering from the sidelines, getting fridged, or floating around as a mystery. But then Hayao Miyazaki and Makoto Shinkai came along, and they said: “What if we just treated both like human beings?” And oh boy, did they deliver.
Anime’s Common Shortcomings: Boys with Goals, Girls as Support
If you’ve watched a lot of anime, you’ve probably seen it: a passionate, driven boy who wants to be the best at something: demon slaying, magic, music, you name it.

When fans think about Jujutsu Kaisen, all the spectacle and attention are stolen by a single character. Contrary to what one might expect, it is not the main character, Yuji Itadori, but Satoru Gojo.
Gojo is arguably one of the most intriguing and appealing characters in all of anime history. His demeanor, strength, and charisma all command a certain sense of worship that far surpasses any other character in Jujutsu Kaisen.
In Jujutsu Kaisen, there is another character whose aura arguably eclipses even Satoru’s. This character was incredibly powerful and had limitless potential, yet was given barely any screen time. That man is none other than Toji Fushiguro.
Toji’s aura was fit for a main character
Toji Fushiguro is the father of Megumi Fushiguro. He has a legendary past. Despite being one of the members of the Three Great Clans (Zenin), famed for being skilled sorcerers, Toji did not have any curse-related powers.

Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most popular shonen series ever. Be it the action-packed storyline, gripping narrative, a range of layered characters, or the twists and turns that await at every turn, Akutami’s series excels in every aspect. However, the problem with fame is that it brings comparisons in its tow.
As it stands, Jujutsu Kaisen has been compared to death to many of its predecessors ever since it started airing. While many have been pointing out the similarities between Gege Akutami’s series and Naruto, the biggest comparison it has been facing is undoubtedly Bleach.
Rightfully so, as the mangaka themselves have noted that they took inspiration from Tite Kubo’s series. Interestingly, though, what many might have missed out on is that Akutami might have been stealing ideas from another source throughout the length of their series. That source is, of course, Jujutsu Kaisen itself.

The 27th edition of the Far East Film Festival (Feff) in Udine, Italy, concluded this weekend with China’s “Her Story” taking home the Golden Mulberry award, marking a significant triumph for female filmmakers at the event.
Director Yihui Shao’s box office hit claimed the festival’s top honor, awarded by audience votes, while Hong Kong’s “The Last Dance – Extended Version” by Anselm Chan secured the Silver Mulberry. Mainland China dominated the podium as director Yin Lichuan’s “Like a Rolling Stone” rounded out the winners with the Crystal Mulberry.
This year’s results highlighted gender equality in Asian cinema, with two of the three top prizes awarded to female directors from mainland China. The victories came as part of a festival edition that organizers described as “particularly attentive to social issues.”

Spoiler Alert !!!This article contains spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen manga!!!
Gege Akutami divided the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom in two when the results of the infamous Gojo vs Sukuna fight became clear. Not only because of Gojo’s defeat, but also because of the way he lost to Sukuna. Mostly because Gojo didn’t only observe and train to fight him, but he also stated numerous times that he could take on the King of Curses.
As such, seeing the “strongest” falling to such disgrace became quite a blow for the fandom. However, the result should have been pretty predictable if one paid attention to the fight.
Especially since the mangaka applied the logic of the Jujutsu Kaisen universe to the maximum during that fight. Unfortunately, many fans failed to notice it at first.

Does Jujutsu Kaisen’s Megumi & Tsumiki Draw Inspiration From Bleach’s Byakuya & Rukia? (Photo Credit – Prime Video)
Tucked beneath Jujutsu Kaisen’s cursed battles and supernatural disruption lies a heartbeat shaped by something older and deeply rooted in another titan of the shonen world. While Gege Akutami has never hidden his admiration for Bleach, the threads of inspiration run deeper than flashy fight choreography and spirit-based power systems.
Among all the nods to Tite Kubo’s legacy, one of the most poignant mirrors is in the bond between Megumi Fushiguro and his step-sister Tsumiki, which is a dynamic quietly echoing that of Byakuya and Rukia from Bleach.
Some tid-bits:
★ Sukuna targeting Megumi & Gojo’s death were planned from the beginning
★ Megumi caring about his sister is based on Rukia’s relationship with her brother from Bleach
★ In original storyboard, Utahime is also present in the page where Gojo gave the big grin pic.

Jujutsu Kaisen is undoubtedly one of the most beloved stories in modern Shonen. Even after it has ended, fans continue discussing its characters and story. While the author’s narrative choices are debatable, none can disagree that the story has some of the best-written characters in Shonen.
Instead of focusing on well-worn archetypes, the author focuses on creating morally ambiguous and complex characters and provides them with hidden depths and unconventional philosophies that Shonen is not used to seeing.

Even if you don’t necessarily agree with it, Demon Slayer does have many reasons why it broke so many records in both anime and manga. Mixed with Ufotable’s otherworldly animation and insane choreography, the series has arguably the best animation to ever exist.
However, while one may think that animation is all it has, sorry to disappoint you, but even Demon Slayer‘s narrative shines at moments where other series pale in comparison. It especially threw off one boring anime trope that some other anime seems like it can’t exist without, especially Jujutsu Kaisen.

So what is it, you may wonder? There is no “chosen one” in Demon Slayer! Each character holds equal weightage to the actual plot and never feels way too overpowered to a fault.

Ryomen Sukuna is referred to as the strongest sorcerer in Jujutsu Kaisen's history. During his life, he became known as the King of Curses after slaying the Golden Age of Jujutsu sorcerers. Now, having survived the consequences of time thanks to a technique that let him split his soul into twenty indestructible fingers, Sukuna returned to the modern age of sorcerers when his finger is eaten by the series's protagonist Yuji Itadori.
As the primary antagonist, Sukuna began to gain a lot of traction as more of his character was developed. While fans began to understand that the King of Curses would not be like other sealed demons in the protagonists, he remained hostile towards Yuji and his allies. Becoming the final villain of the manga, Sukuna's power, tactical intellect, exciting techniques, and twisted personality garnered him legions of fans. Jujutsu Kaisen's Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto have a complicated and inevitably tragic relationship. As two of the jujutsu world's most gifted sorcerers, their natural talent wielding cursed energy earned them both Special Grade status when they were still in school. As the best of the best that Jujutsu High had to offer, Gojo and Geto organically developed a healthy rivalry and close relationship during the missions they were forced to take together.
Despite the powerful bond they shared, there were always ideological and philsophical differences between Geto and Gojo when it came to their worldview. Eventually, events that were beyond their control as young, immature Jujutsu Sorcerers would drive their beliefs to logical extremes and lead the pair down very different paths. Since debuting in 2018, Jujutsu Kaisen has become one of the most popular anime franchises of the 21st century. Thanks to the success of Jjk: 0 and many other factors, Jujutsu Kaisen was the best-selling manga in both 2021 and 2022. However, none of this would have been possible were it not for the series' iconic antagonist, Ryomen Sukuna. After becoming the world's strongest jujutsu sorcerer many centuries before the events of Jujutsu Kaisen, Sukuna transformed himself into twenty cursed objects, allowing him to be reincarnated inside the body of the series' protagonist, Yuji Itadori.
While Yuji's body is usually able to resist Sukuna's will, the villain is still extremely dangerous at all times. Final arcs in shonen manga are very divisive among their fanbases. Even if the ending to a popular series sticks to the landing, the road to getting there can feel overwhelming. Contrived plot points, unexplained new powers, and shifting focus between several characters can fatigue readers who want their favorite series to end on a high note. This problem has become much more apparent in recent years, as many long-running shonen manga end.
With an acclaimed manga series like Naruto wrapping up its original story, it puts pressure on other creators to give their titles a farewell that's just as grand. Unfortunately, many series can still have endings that are rushed, anyway. The author may be suffering from health issues that force them to wrap up the series early or may be forced to wrap the series earlier than they intended. Whatever the reason, these final arcs have been downgraded...

After a string of consistently exciting battles, heart-wrenching plot twists, and controversial reports of overworked staff, Jujutsu Kaisen’s highly anticipated and acclaimed second season reached its conclusion, but not without leaving a few fans wondering what it all meant. Season 2's first few episodes covered Gojo’s Past Arc, also known as the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death Arc. This laid the groundwork necessary for the second narrative, the Shibuya Incident, to succeed as well as it did. The anime is already looking to the future, with the final episode of Season 2 hinting heavily at a complete overhaul of the current structure of jujutsu society in upcoming arcs.

Satoru Gojo was introduced as the "Strongest Sorcerer" in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. After a bombastic entry in the first episode, trouncing Ryomen Sukuna, Gojo quickly became Jjk's poster boy. As the seasons and manga went on, more and more fans became enamored by his personality, strength, design, and character, not to mention Gojo's special fondness for preserving and nurturing the next generation of Jujutsu sorcerers.
Now that Jjk has finished its manga run, and all the character statuses have been confirmed, fans have been desperate to know what happens to Gojo at the end of the series. Sukuna and Kenjaku's deaths were a blessing, but their actions also devastated Jujutsu society. Gojo's dreams of changing the world were a hallmark of his character arc, so even his death shouldn't have prevented his proteges from carrying his legacy forward.

In the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, jujutsu sorcerers have a wide range of cursed techniques and abilities. In addition, they have access to numerous cursed tools that can be used in conjunction with their Innate Techniques. All things considered, however, the ability to use a Domain Expansion separates the most powerful jujutsu sorcerers from their average colleagues. The term for Domain Expansion in Japanese is Ryoiki Tenkai, which loosely translates to "expansion of territory."
Fans truly understood the power of a Domain Expansion when Satoru Gojo was fighting Jogo; like Yuji Itadori, they were amazed at the sheer level of complexity involved in constructing and maintaining such a refined technique. Domain Expansion is an elaborate ability that can be confusing to understand, so it's necessary to dive deep into the lore behind it in order to fully enjoy the action-packed sequences more in Jjk.

Jujutsu Kaisen might be cursed by its ending but it sure has one advantage over most Shonen series. In many Shonen genre anime, the female characters are heavily s*xualized, serve no purpose beyond being a love interest, or aren’t utilized to their full potential. Gege Akutami, however, wrote the opposite.
Nobara and Maki from Jujutsu Kaisen. [Credit: Mappa]
There’s a reason why the anime community targets the female characters and it’s essentially because of fans lacking media literacy and how the mangaka treat their arcs. They either portray them as weak characters or are stuck in a love triangle for the male character’s affection. Nuance is just lost.
Gege Akutami broke this formula. Most of the women don’t see each other as competition. The more prominent characters are incredibly nuanced and very independent. While some of the women can be quite controversial, Nobara Kugisaki and...

Jujutsu Kaisen and Solo Leveling are both extremely popular anime. They are powerhouses among the modern anime series, with millions of fans worldwide. Yet, when it comes down to it, they struggle with the same fundamental issue of focusing on their protagonists.
A scene from Solo Leveling Season 2. | Credit: A-1 Pictures
Jujutsu Kaisen is a narrative with rich characters, lore, and development. So much so that the protagonist himself feels secondary to the narrative. The anime has faced a lot of criticism for sidelining Yuji Itadori in favor of not one but many side characters.
Characters like Gojo Satoru and Sukuna steal the spotlight and feel much more alive than Yuji, who seems to develop very little throughout. On the contrary, we have Solo Leveling, which does the exact opposite, making everything revolve around Jinwoo, the protagonist, without giving the side characters many chances to develop.

Toji Fushiguro's poor childhood isn't new information to Jujutsu Kaisen fans — it's actually the reason behind all the parallels between him and Maki Zenin. Both grew up without Cursed Energy in one of the most influential clans in Jujutsu society, causing them to be disgraced and mistreated by their own family: the Zenins. Although Toji Fushiguro's age remains unknown, Maki wasn't the only family member whom he had a connection to.
His son, Megumi Fushiguro, knew very little of his parents, but his actions already echoed those of his father's. The Culling Game brought out a darker side to the young Fushiguro, likely because of his rocky upbringing and everything he's been through up until that point. Instead of saving his son from suffering the same tragic childhood, Toji Fushiguro passed the traumatic Zenin cycle of hate down to Megumi. That said, this doesn't necessarily mean that Megumi will perpetuate his father's example.

Jujutsu Kaisen is one of Shonen Jump's most beloved series. With its 2020 anime adaptation, the series has only become more popular. It revolves around Yuji Itadori, an athletic high schooler who ends up joining the school's occult club. Yuji accidentally stumbles upon the supernatural world after releasing a cursed spirit by introducing a mysterious artifact.
In a world of terrifying curses and powerful sorcerers, it should come as no surprise that there is a hierarchy of strength in Jjk. Unlike many other shonen series which emphasize hard work above all else, though, many of Jjk's strongest characters, like Satoru Gojo or the Disaster Curses, are as powerful as they are by birthright alone. Jujutsu Kaisen is full of powerful characters, but no matter how hard most of them try, they'll never be able to surpass the series' strongest Jujutsu Sorcerers and Cursed Spirits.

Manhwas are taking the internet by storm and Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint is no exception to that. The popular webtoon stands top-tier in many ways, especially through its well-paced plot, characters, and impressive world-building.
Other than that, it offers novelty in terms of its perspectives. While most manhwas are centered around cliche tropes of power, Sing Shong makes the most of these tropes by twisting it completely. There is, however, a standalone aspect that makes it superior to most new-age series.

Where most series abandon their key elements, the series makes the most of it. Apart from using common tropes, Sing Shong renders it unique by interplaying this key element within the plot. The author’s approach is what makes the series superior to other series.
In retrospect, Sakamoto Days failed miserably to do justice to its core elements.

Netflix has unveiled its Japanese content slate for 2025, headlined by “Last Samurai Standing,” a period drama featuring 300 samurai warriors gathered at Tenryuji Temple in Kyoto, lured by the promise of a 100 billion yen prize. The series stars Junichi Okada, who serves as lead actor, producer and action choreographer.
“When most people think about samurai, they think about this very glamorous period in Japanese history,” says Netflix Japan content head Kaata Sakamoto. “But what a lot of people don’t realize is that, towards the end of the Edo period, the samurai lost a lot of their glamour and their power. ‘Last Samurai Standing’ is about what would happen if these warriors — the toughest and best in Japan — all of a sudden became common people and had to fight for their lives. Jujutsu Kaisen is a universal hit, and is often classified as being part of shōnen anime’s “Dark Trio”, along with Chainsaw Man and Hell’s Paradise. Sporting iconic characters such as Sukuna and Gojo, who have been mentioned in popular songs like Megan Thee Stallion’s “Otaku Hot Girl”, and quotable one-liners such as “Nah, I’d win”, there’s no question that Jujutsu Kaisen has pop-culture in a chokehold.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s exceptional storytelling, top-tier animation and well-written characters contributed to its roaring success. However, the series isn’t without its flaws. Gege Akutami has received a lot of backlash from fans, resulting from storyline inconsistencies, underdeveloped characters and character deaths. Akutami has made many questionable decisions in Jujutsu Kaisen, with the most obvious being the mistreatment of the characters.

Yuji Itadori’s hair color has been a contested topic among Jujutsu Kaisen fans ever since the anime adaptation aired. Looking at Itadori’s hair while going through the manga, the readers might notice that the shades of Yuji’s hair keep changing. The ending of a long-running Shonen manga is a defining moment, shaping how the series is remembered for years to come. Yet, many iconic series stumble at this critical point, falling victim to what fans consider the “Shonen Epilogue Curse”. This trope is marked by rushed conclusions, unnecessary time skips, or bizarre character redesigns that fail to resonate with audiences, however, Jujutsu Kaisen‘s ending brought a refreshing change in terms of character design.

Jujutsu Kaisen introduces many complex elements throughout its story. One of the techniques employed in the anime and manga to foreshadow future events, while not giving too much away too early. Things in Jjk are revealed out of context, and there are good many of these reveals that revolve almost exclusively around the series' main protagonist, Yuji Itadori. Yuji doesn't know much about the world he's involved in, and there are several mysteries tucked into his personal backstory that are sown into the plot as early as the first episode, when his grandpa brings up Yuji's parents before his death.

Anime villains are a spectrum. Most of them are antagonists with sympathetic backstories that justify or at the least excuse their actions, like Itachi Uchiha from Naruto or Akaza from Demon Slayer. Fans end up having a soft spot for characters like these. However, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.
Ryomen Sukuna, the main antagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen, is a rare anime villain who doesn’t have any tragic backstory to pacify his actions. Despite the recent prologue chapter attempting to do this, fans aren’t convinced by it nor empathizing with the King of Curses.

Jujutsu Kaisen manga got a special 16 page epilogue which was a part of the 30th and final volume of the manga. Author Gege Akutami decided to dedicate these 16 pages to give some final bits and pieces about Itadori, Yuko Ozawa, Nobara, Panda, Uraume, and Sukuna.
And interestingly, the four part epilogue revealed what exactly happened to Panda and Yuta after the events of the manga.
Well, for starters, we know that both Panda and Yuta survived Kenjaku’s Jujutsu terrorism and the subsequent onslaught by Sukuna.

There’s one thing that’s common between Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen — both series are brilliantly animated by the same studio, Mappa. As one of the leading giants in the animation industry, the studio is top-tier in its game, being a steady competitor to the likes of Ufotable and Toei Animation.
And while Akutami’s series was lauded, Fujimoto’s anime was heavily criticized for various reasons. Though tides are turning in the latter’s favor, especially with the studio’s latest trailer.

After almost two years, Mappa released the trailer of Reze Arc, and to say the least, it’s more than promising. From animation to visuals, it is nothing short of iconic.
This also puts Akutami’s series to shame, especially in line with the blatant criticism directed at Fujimoto’s story. The trailer overshadows the past hate...

2024 was a sad year for Jujutsu Kaisen fans as the manga series finally bid farewell and reached its conclusion by bringing an end to an extremely interesting story. However, the ending was not at all what fans expected, and thus, there was some disappointment with it. It felt a little rushed, and many character plots were left unresolved, which certainly was not good.

But to tackle this problem, Gege Akutami has decided to add some extra pages to the final volume of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga that will focus on certain characters from the series. The only problem is that the characters that will be focused on are not so important to the central storyline of the series. Thus, fans don’t care about them making the extra pages obsolete.
When fans got to know about the extra pages, they were excited, but this excitement...

Few characters in Jujutsu Kaisen are so roundly despised as Mahito, but he's actually the secret to unlocking the message behind Yuji's journey. For the most part, Jujutsu Kaisen's villains find a way to win fans over. The charming Geto has his backstory with Gojo and a character progression that begs viewers for identification and empathy. Sukuna, in his raw chaos and the slow excavation of his connection with protagonist Itadori Yuji, has a dominant charisma that's impossible to ignore. Mahito, on the other hand, has little going for him—he's so despicable that he's hard to watch, and knowing he'll appear in a scene feels painful in itself.
The dust has started to settle since Jujutsu Kaisen's finale, which left many fans upset after Mahito got the beloved shōnen's final word. However, his appearance in the finale was actually very meaningful. In fact, it's a final...
