It’s no coincidence that this surprisingly moving film is inspired by Frank Pierson’s 1976 drama A Star Is Born. And I deliberately mention the funky psychedelic 1976 version and not the older 1954 version of the same story. In spirit and in the way the two principal actors perform their parts of two soul-mates and singers torn asunder by their allegiance to the same competitive spirit of showmanship, Aashiqui 2 is robustly reminiscent of the Kris Kristofferson-Barbra Streisand film where he discovers a co-singer who steals his heart and also his career.

Warner Home Video has provided us with two exclusive clips from the 1976 classic A Star is Born, which makes its debut on Blu-ray February 5. Barbra Streisand stars as Esther Hoffman, an innocent young singer who falls for aging rock star John Howard (Kris Kristofferson). The 1976 musical drama-romance film A Star Is Born starring Barbra Streisand (Little Fockers) and Kris Kristofferson (Heaven’s Gate) is a remake of two earlier films—a 1937 drama starring Janet Gaynor and Frederic March and a 1954 musical version with Judy Garland (Easter Parade) and James Mason (Bigger Than Life).

The ’76 version tell the story of a talented young singer, Esther Hoffman (Streisand) who enters the music business, and meets and falls in love with veteran talented rock star John Norman Howard (Kristofferson) only to find her career ascending while his goes into decline. As their relationship grows, her success only makes John’s downward spiral more apparent.

According to a tweet by Bryce's movie director dad Ron Howard, the actress gave birth to her first daughter on Thursday.

"Beatrice Jean Howard-Gabel Born Jan 19, 2012 8lbs. 6oz. Bryce & Baby B are spectacular Daddy Seth & brother Theo are beaming ear to ear :-) " Ron revealed on Sunday.

Ironically, the newborn hasn't been around a whole week yet but she already might have a job lined up.

"Ron, tell Bryce congratulations from our whole family," tweeted M. Night Shyamalan. "I'll be waiting to cast Beatrice in a few years!"

Bryce and Seth said "I do" on June 17, 2006. The couple welcomed their first child, Theodore Norman Howard-Gabel, on February 16, 2007.

Director Ron Howard is the man he is today because of fatherhood, he reveals in a new interview with Parade. “I think I’ve probably learned more and grown more because I’m a father than for any other reason,” he notes.

Is there some rule of the universe that once in every generation, a new version of A Star is Born must be filmed? Warner Bros. has been working for some time on yet another remake to accompany the 1937, 1954 and 1976 movies. I feel like "Hello everybody, this is Mrs. Norman Maine" (or John Norman Howard, in 1976) is a line that won't date well, but the story about a couple whose similar careers are on different trajectories could be considered timeless. Apparently the studio is moving on picking a director -- Nick Cassavetes is a possibility -- and a pair of stars.

According to the La TImes 24 Frames blog, the front runner for the lead role this time is Russell Crowe. And the woman who's on the way up as her husband is on the way down may be Beyonce Knowles, who has been interested in an A Star is Born remake for some time.

Bryce Dallas Howard and Xavier Samuel, Taylor Lautner's new co-stars on "The Twilight Saga's Eclipse", have filmed a kissing scene for the highly anticipated vampire drama flick, which will be released in U.S. theaters on June 30, 2010. Filming their scenes for the movie, Bryce and Xavier were snapped locking lips on its set in Vancouver, Canada on Thursday, August 20.

During the filming, both of them were seen wearing black costumes. On the movie, Bryce portrays vampire vamp Victoria, which was initially played by Rachelle Lefevre on "The Twilight Saga's New Moon". Australian actor Xavier, in the meantime, stars as "newborn vampire" Riley, a good-looking college student who teams up with Victoria to murder Kristen Stewart's Bella Swan. And since Riley has an inexplicable weakness, he is corrupted by Victoria.
