Rumor: Peacemaker Season 2 Explains Dceu/Dcu Continuity Issues With Some Huge Cameos - Spoilers
Image
DC Studios' Dceu reboot hasn't quite been the fresh start most fans imagined it would be. While James Gunn and Peter Safran have mostly started from scratch with the Dcu, the former's decision to enlist several familiar faces from Peacemaker has led to some confusion.

Gunn's explanation is that these are different versions of the same characters with slightly different backgrounds. It makes sense, but further confusing matters is the fact that Peacemaker season 2 will include a Multiversal storyline, with Christopher Smith visiting a world where he's a beloved hero.

The prevailing theory was that this would explain his journey from the Dceu to the Dcu. However, Gunn has confirmed that's not the case, despite confirming that Peacemaker will somehow address the change.

Well, we now have some insights from @MyTimeToShineH, who explains, "The first episode of Peacemaker Season 2 opens with 'Previously in the Dcu.' It's mostly all season 1 footage,...

Rumor: Peacemaker Season 2 Will Feature A Big Return As [Spoiler] Makes Their Dcu Debut
Image
Peacemaker season 2 is fast approaching, making it the third Dcu project to head our way since Creature Commandos premiered at the end of last year.

DC Studios co-ceo and filmmaker James Gunn had described the series as a direct follow-up to Superman, and promised fans that it's going to explain what is and isn't canon from the first season of Peacemaker.

He's previously hinted that pretty much everything aside from the Justice League's cameos/references to characters like Aquaman and The Flash played out in the Dcu exactly as it did in the Dceu.

Joel Kinnaman reprising his Suicide Squad and The Suicide Squad role as Rick Flag Jr. in Peacemaker season 2 feels like one of the show's worst-kept secrets after some pretty telling hints from the actor. Now, we have apparent confirmation from @MyTimeToShineH.

According to the insider, Kinnaman will return as Rick in a flashback scene (marking...

Every Confirmed Peacemaker Season 2 Villain Ranked by Threat Level
Image
Peacemaker season 2 will see John Cena’s antihero tackle a whole bunch of villains, both old and new. Written and developed by James Gunn, who is the co-chief of DC Studios and directed Superman recently, Peacemaker season 2 will directly relate to the events of Superman and will see Peacemaker go on another mission with the 11th Street Kids.

Gunn has confirmed that most events of season 1 and The Suicide Squad are canon to the show, which means quite a few villains who survived the previous season will return.

New baddies are also set to cross paths with John Cena, including Gunn’s frequent collaborator Michael Rooker, who plays a mysterious original character. Here are the six villains of Peacemaker season 2 ranked by their threat level.

Superman: All the Details You Missed
Image
Let’s be honest. DC fans have been through it. The last decade of superhero cinema felt like a never-ending reboot cycle, a cinematic tug-of-war between realism, studio meddling, and the Snyder Cut….actually, that was really good. But with Superman, something shifted. When the first trailer dropped, you could feel the pulse of excitement! Fanboys rejoiced as James Gunn, the misfit maestro behind Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad, was tasked with rebooting the most iconic superhero in history.

What we got wasn’t just another origin story or grim reboot. Superman is a vibrant, character-rich celebration of everything that makes the DC Universe work! It’s filled with color and hope, and, if you pay attention, layer after layer of hidden detail. Whether you’re a die-hard comic book reader or just someone who misses seeing Superman smiling or being human, this movie is for you!

12 DC Comics Movies And TV Shows We Want To See After Superman
Image
Now that nerds around the world have gotten a taste of James Gunn's outstanding "Superman," we're finally seeing our newest superhero cinematic universe take shape. Given everything that went down with the disastrous Snyderverse and even Superman's many cancelled films prior to that, it felt miraculous to watch a genuine Superman film grace the silver screen.

However, even more shocking was just how assured Gunn's vision for the entire DC Universe felt even at first glance. From the establishing opening crawl to the introduction of the Justice Gang to even blink-and-you-miss-it allusions to legendary DC heroes, it really feels like Gunn and his producing partner, Peter Safran, have given a lot of thought into the entire landscape of their DC mythos, including long before and long after this one adventure with the Man of Steel.

We're sure Gunn and Safran's plans are airtight by now, but watching...

Peacemaker Star John Cena Says He Was Called In At The "Final Hour" For Superman Cameo
Image
Almost all of Superman's biggest surprises leaked online in advance, but John Cena's Peacemaker cameo was one of the few not revealed before the movie swooped into theaters last month.

Christopher Smith was featured on a talk show, tearing into the Man of Tomorrow after the world learned why his parents had really sent him to Earth. It was a fun moment for fans, and tied into Peacemaker's disdain and jealousy for the superheroes who have shunned his attempts to be like them.

In a newly released video, Cena breaks his silence on appearing in Superman, revealing that it was a last-minute decision made by Gunn while he was getting ready to start shooting Peacemaker season 2.

"I was called in at the final hour as we were preparing for Peacemaker season 2," the WWE Superstar explained. "I did the costume fittings for the new Peacemaker season 2 wardrobe. They were filming Superman at the time,...

John Cena Shares How His Surprise ‘Superman’ Cameo Came Together
Image
James Gunn’s Superman is out in theaters, and it’s doing great both with critics and at the box office. The film kicks off the live-action side of the new DC Universe, and it’s packed with DC heroes like Mr. Terrific, Metamorpho, Hawkgirl, Guy Gardner, and even Lex Luthor. But one of the most talked-about surprises was a quick but memorable cameo from John Cena’s Peacemaker.

In the movie, Peacemaker pops up as a guest on a talk show and takes some time to trash Superman on air. Recently, Cena spoke about how that cameo happened and why he didn’t hesitate for a second to do it. Speaking with the press while promoting the scene, Cena said it all came down to one thing: James Gunn asked.

“I got to go on a talk show and talk smack about Superman. I was called in at the...

John Cena Explains the Story Behind His Surprise ‘Superman’ Cameo

James Gunn’s Superman hit theaters a few weeks ago, and it’s already a massive success, both with critics and at the box office. The movie is the first big step for Gunn’s new DC Universe, and it’s packed with characters like Mr. Terrific, Hawkgirl, Metamorpho, Guy Gardner, and Lex Luthor. But one surprise moment that got fans talking was the return of John Cena’s Peacemaker.

Peacemaker only shows up for one scene, but it’s a memorable one. He appears as a talk show guest, cracking jokes and throwing shade at Superman. In a recent interview, Cena finally opened up about how the cameo happened and why he didn’t hesitate to do it.

“I got to go on a talk show and talk smack about Superman. I was called in at the final hour as we were getting ready for Peacemaker Season 2… James asked...

Ahead of 'Peacemaker' Season 2, James Gunn Finally Reveals Where the Dcu Definitively Begins
Image
August will bring the dawn of peace with the John Cena-led Peacemaker Season 2. The series is the only DC property that existed before James Gunn’s Dcu and is being carried forward. How the two worlds collide remains to be seen, but that isn’t the only question that Chris Smith's, aka Peacemaker, presence raises in the universe. Another glaring question stands: Where does Dcu actually begin? And Gunn has all the answers.

The first offering of the new Dcu was the animated Creature Commandos, where Gunn says, "The Dcu begins canonically,” adding, “and then Superman continues the Dcu. Then, Peacemaker Season 2 continues from there. Now, that's the basics. If you really want to keep it simple and not confused, just know that those three things are canon," Gunn explained. So, the audiences who are either casual viewers or new to the chronology of the superhero world have a pretty straight timeline.

James Gunn’s Superman Paid Tribute to a Key DC Figure Only Die Hard Fans Can Spot
Image
Superman had many cameos alongside its wonderful main acting cast. One of them was Will Reeve, the son of veteran actor Christopher Reeve. In hindsight, it seems that James Gunn paid tribute to an exemplary actor in a way by including his son in the movie, which is a great directorial move.

In an interview with the New York Post (via People), Will Reeve shared his thoughts on being a part of James Gunn’s vision, saying,

“I went on set, I did my thing for a few minutes, and then got in the car to head back to the airport to go home.”

He further explained, laughing.

“And by the time I had gotten to the gate, it had leaked online that I had a cameo.”

With the fans keeping their eyes on the news to watch out for the movements in such big films, it seems that the...

First 'Tulsa King' Season 3 Images Bring Back Sylvester Stallone’s Crime Boss
Image
Sylvester Stallone is back in the saddle — or at least the high-thread-count sheets — as Dwight “The General” Manfredi in Tulsa KingSeason 3, and Paramount+ has dropped our first official look at the upcoming installment of Taylor Sheridan’s unlikely mobster epic, via USA Today. Premiering this September, the new season promises higher stakes, grittier rivalries, and the debut of Samuel L. Jackson as the newest player in Sheridan’s growing crime-verse. And if the first-look images are anything to go by, Tulsa King is leaning even further into its pulpy, gun-toting roots.

The Season 2 finale left Dwight and his oddball crew briefly basking in victory before being yanked—literally—out of bed by a government task force. Now, as seen in the images, the fight for Tulsa is only heating up, and the crime world is expanding fast. One of the most exciting developments? Jackson, 76, joins the cast as Russell Lee Washington Jr.

Peacemaker Season 2’s Dance Number Is “Way Bigger” With “Twice as Many People" [Exclusive]
Image
One of the most unexpected highlights of Peacemaker Season 1 wasn’t a fight scene or a plot twist — it was the absolutely unskippable opening credits sequence. Choreographed to Wig Wam’s “Do Ya Wanna Taste It,” the dance became an instant fan-favorite moment. And with Season 2 less than a month away, Peacemaker star Steve Agee just confirmed the new dance number is doubling down on everything fans loved. Collider’s Steve Weintraub caught up with Agee at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, where the actor teased just how much bigger the new number is going to be — in every sense.

“Way bigger. I mean, at least twice as many people. Maybe more in the dance number because we have a much bigger cast this season. We've got Frank Grillo with us. Robert Patrick's back. Judomaster's back. We have Tim Meadows, a wonderful actress, Sol Rodriguez. It's a lot of people.”

'Peacemaker' Star, 60, Defends His Bad Dancing in the Show's Opening Credits
Image
PeacemakerSeason 2 is heading to Max later this summer and the cast took San Diego Comic-Con to promote the show. Including letting fans know that the opening number for this season would be featuring a song from James Gunn's favorite band. Gunn announced as the VIP experience for "Peacefest," an activation for the show at Sdcc, that Foxy Shazam's "Oh Lord" would be the opening credit music for Season 2. Season 1 featured the song "Do Ya Wanna Taste It" by the band Wig Wam. But with the opening credits comes dancing for the cast and John Cena's dancing in Season 1 became famous. According to Gunn though, one cast member wasn't great at dancing: Frank Grillo.

"He is a terrible dancer," Gunn said on the Peacemaker panel at San Diego-Comic Con. "But he was a trooper." Grillo responded by telling the crowd "My knees were dying!" But Grillo went on to...

James Gunn Names His Favorite Superman Character, And You'd Never Guess It In 100 Tries
Image
David Corenswet's Superman may be the star of James Gunn's Superman, but he's not the writer-director's favorite character. Instead, that honor falls upon the alien-like creature, Mr. Handsome, who was shown controlling the hovercraft used inside Lex Luthor's artificial pocket universe.

In a new post on X, Gunn revealed that Mr. Handsome was his favorite character in the DC Universe movie. As part of this post, the filmmaker also shared how exactly Mr. Handsome, was was created specifically for Superman and is unrelated to the DC Comics character of the same name, came to exist within the Dcu. "When people ask me my favorite character from [Superman] it just might be Mr. Handsome. Lex created Mr. Handsome in a Petri dish when he was 12 - he was trying to make a human. He didn't come out so well, but he just might be the only one in the...

'Peacemaker' Dcu Star Reveals Season 2 Finale Have Some "Crazy Stuff"
Image
Peacemaker Season 2 is giving Dcu fans déjà vu, as the main stars of the HBO Max series have revealed that the finale will include some "crazy stuff" that won't be shown to journalists. The long-awaited second season of James Gunn's raunchy superhero series will directly follow the events of Superman.

The cast of Peacemaker revealed to Cbr that the final three episodes of Season 2 will be withheld from the press ahead of their premiere on HBO Max. They confirmed that "there is some crazy stuff" in episodes 6, 7, and 8, but did not elaborate or hint at what that might be. Fans are already speculating that a Superman crossover could be happening over the three-episode stretch. That speculation has some merit, especially since the Peacemaker Season 1 finale was also not shown to the press due to having a Justice League cameo. Whatever it is, it appears that Gunn is not holding...

John Cena On What Superman's Success Means For Peacemaker Season 2
Image
Peacemaker lead John Cena recently opened up about his continued partnership with James Gunn and how the positive buzz surrounding Superman could impact the upcoming second season of the hit Max series.

On filming his cameo, Cena said it was a no-brainer as Gunn is someone that he would show up for, no questions asked. "The cameo came about because he asked me, and he could ask me to go to the ends of the Earth and if I could do it, then I'll do it. He's one of the people on a short list, which I admire and respect and really do as much as I can for them. He's changed my life completely, as I stand here in [the Peacemaker costume]."

And as for what Superman's positive reception means for Peacemaker season 2 and the larger Dcu, Cena replied, "I think to have audiences around the world, embrace James' vision of Superman,...

‘Peacemaker’s John Cena, James Gunn & More Get Nsfw About Season 2: ‘C**ty!’ (Video)
Image
Peacemaker‘s long-awaited second season is quickly approaching as HBO Max gears up for John Cena‘s return as the titular anti-hero. In anticipation of the premiere, the team stopped by TV Insider and TV Guide Magazine’s San Diego Comic-Con studio to tease what’s in store for the R-rated series’ latest chapter. Creator James Gunn and stars John Cena, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, Steve Agee, Frank Grillo, Tim Meadows, and Sol Rodriguez were all on site to pull the curtain back on the latest chapter of the DC Universe following this summer’s blockbuster hit, Superman. But as with any superhero project, details are limited to prevent fans from being spoiled, so the stars offered some Nsfw words to tease their journeys. As fans watched on from outside the studio, the cast got silly with their answers before Cena was asked more seriously to sum up Christopher Smith...

The Peacemaker Season 2 Trailer May Explain One Of The Dcu's Biggest Mysteries
Image
Spoilers for "Superman" to follow, so beware!

James Gunn's new DC Universe has been a breath of fresh air in the comic book movie space, largely due to the breezy reception for "Superman" from both audiences and critics. However, before he reinvented the Man of Steel for the big screen, Gunn decided to basically create the fandom around Peacemaker. John Cena starred in 2021's "The Suicide Squad" as Christopher Smith, a "peace-loving" mercenary that was as funny in that film as he was thoroughly rude. Similarly, his follow-up appearance in "Peacemaker" season 1 on HBO Max was warmly regarded by tons of people around the world. At the same time, it created a problem for the Dcu. Namely, if we're getting rid of the DC Extended Universe's Justice League (including Jason Momoa's Aquaman), then how in the world can Peacemaker make the jump to a new continuity that's so...

12 Superman Easter eggs and references you may have missed
Image
After years of underwhelming releases and an overall lack of cohesion in storytelling, DC bounced back with a bang on July 11 with James Gunn’s reliable, comic book-loving direction.

Superman, starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, was loved by fans and critics alike. From incredibly positive early reviews to a $125 million domestic opening weekend, Gunn’s film soared to a summer blockbuster status while delivering a promising revival of the Dcu.

In the movie, Gunn drops us into an existing universe where metahumans are already established. Instead of seeing Kal-El land on Earth in his Kryptonian spaceship, we catch him on just another day in Metropolis—a nod to Gunn’s experience of reading Superman comic books.

However, what the movie does not say out loud in as many words, it makes up for with Easter eggs.

Peacemaker Season 2 Trailer: John Cena Tries To Be A Hero On A Parallel Earth As DC Series Returns
Image
What a difference a month makes, eh? With Superman flying high at the box office for the Dcu and The Fantastic Four: First Steps following hot on its heels to give the MCU a timely pre-Doomsday boost, the great superhero fatigue discourse that's dominated social media in recent years has suddenly abated. Which is just as well, because at this past weekend's San Diego Comic Con, DC Studios' head honcho James Gunn capped off a star-studded Peacemaker panel — which, may we add, featured bit-committed mensch John Cena in full helmeted costume — by dropping the official trailer for the hotly anticipated Season 2. If parallel Earths, morally dubious heroes, and scorching hot needle drops are your thing, then check out the new teaser below;

Ozzy Osbourne on the soundtrack? Check. Cena's Chris, Eagly, and the 11th Street Kids — Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks), Vigilante (Freddie Stroma), Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), and Steve Agee...

Peacemaker's John Cena Trolls James Gunn With 'You Can't See Me' Joke: 'He Doesn't Like It'
Image
John Cena worked his signature line into a Peacemaker panel to his boss' face, and the results are hilarious.

Appearing together at San Diego Comic-Con with the rest of Peacemaker's Season 2 cast, Cena -- dressed in his full Peacemaker costume -- pulled a variation of the much-memed "you can't see me" taunt by posing his helmet next to Gunn. Dubbing this image "James Gunn next to John Cena," he then poked fun at Gunn's extended reaction to the invisible Cena sitting next to him, joking, "Look at how he's so frustrated, I love it. He doesn't like it so much."

Frank Grillo Admits He Refused to Do One Thing in ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2: “I Was Really Against It Because I’m a Serious Actor”
Image
Frank Grillo has become a key player in the rebooted DC Universe, playing Rick Flag Sr. He’s been busy, appearing in every Dcu project released so far.

Grillo had a major role in Creature Commandos last December, a smaller part in Superman which came out two weeks ago, and now he’s set to have a big role in Peacemaker Season 2.

But Grillo wasn’t excited about one particular thing in the new season, the opening credits dance. The DC series is introducing a new dance sequence that’s both silly and serious. At San Diego Comic-Con, director James Gunn and the cast visited Entertainment Weekly’s video suite before their Hall H panel. They had a laugh about Grillo’s dancing skills.

Gunn joked, “He is a terrible dancer,” making everyone laugh, but added, “But he was a trooper.” Grillo admitted, “My knees were dying!”
