Lots of different gamers tuned in to the Xbox Games Showcase today, but we can guess that there was a majority that were expecting news about Gears of War: E-Day. And we are so very sorry to say that we got next to nothing. What we got instead was a single sentence confirming the game would release in 2026.

So, no gameplay footage, no behind-the-scenes breakdown, not even a new teaser. For a franchise that helped define the modern Xbox brand, the absence is very obvious. We did get news that Gears of War: Reloaded is coming out this August, but the last entry in the franchise was Gears 5, which is now nearly six years old.

Gears of War: E-Day gets no news or teaser at Xbox Games Showcase

Originally announced at the 2024 Xbox Showcase with an exciting cinematic reveal, Gears of War: E-Day has been one of the most anticipated Xbox titles in recent history.

The producers of Broadway’s Maybe Happy Ending and Buena Vista Social Club have announced national tours for the shows to launch in 2026.

Both shows were nominated for 10 Tony Awards last week, including Best Musical.

Maybe Happy Ending by Will Aronson and Hue Park directed by Michael Arden will embark on a multi-year North American tour beginning in the fall of 2026. Launching in Baltimore at the Hippodrome Theatre at The France-Merrick Performing Arts Center, the tour has stops planned in 30+ cities including Los Angeles, D.C., Chicago, Tampa, St. Louis, Detroit, San Francisco, Providence and many other cities. Additional engagements, casting and the route for the tour’s first year will be announced soon.

“We’re thrilled to launch the North American tour of Maybe Happy Ending in the vibrant city of Baltimore, where the spirit of innovation and storytelling runs deep,” said Ron Legler, France-Merrick Performing Arts Center President.

The gaming world is abuzz with excitement as The Coalition prepares to take players back to the pivotal moment that sparked the epic Gears of War saga. Announced during the Xbox Games Showcase 2024, Gears of War: E-Day promises to be a groundbreaking prequel that will explore the harrowing events of Emergence Day, set 14 years before the original Gears of War game.

E-Day, as fans of the series know, marks the catastrophic emergence of the Locust Horde from beneath the surface of Sera, an event that decimated the planet’s population and plunged humanity into a desperate fight for survival. This new installment aims to capture the raw intensity and horror of that fateful day through the eyes of a younger Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago, with John Dimaggio and Carlos Ferro reprising their iconic roles.

The reveal trailer, showcased at the Xbox event, immediately set the tone for what players can expect.

Milly Alcock is rumored to be a candidate for Supergirl in DC's upcoming franchise, and fan art imagines her in the iconic costume. Several fan art pieces depict Alcock as the next cinematic version of Supergirl, with different costume designs and color schemes. The casting for the Dcu Supergirl has not been confirmed yet, but there are speculations that she may appear in Gunn's Superman: Legacy movie before her solo film.

Sony Pictures International Productions (Spip) is co-producing with Zamora Films and Alameda Films La Boda De Mi Mejor Amigo, a Spanish-language adaptation of the 1997 global hit My Best Friend’s Wedding.

Production on the rom-com takes place in Guadalajara and Mexico City. Celso García will direct from Gabriel Ripstein’s Spanish-language adaptation of the original screenplay by Ronald Bass.

Gears of War 3 launched across the world last night. Game's Oxford Street branch hosted the official launch for the UK, which included an appearance from Carlos Ferro, voice of Dom Santiago. Jon Aston of Harrow, London, queued from 2:30pm on Sunday to be the first person in line to pick up a copy of the game, a Samsung 40" D5520 Smart Led TV and signed merchandise. Gears of War 3 will see midnight launches across the country next week. Some 258 Game and 170 GameStation stores will open their doors early on Tuesday, September 20.
